I can imagine it. Transitions so abrupt that I would shout Ron Toomer's name in vain! Hey I've done it on Vortex and Anaconda!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us! I would love to visit Hersheypark and BGW! Kennywood as well! Of the parks we went to Fourth of July weekend (I was with LoraX) I would have to say SFGAdv and KD were the top ones. SFAm? The feeling is mutual...

Yes it is. Kings Dominion is laid out completely different than Kings Island. Check out this park map Ryan, it gives you a good idea of how Taft designed the park. Seems like they took what worked at Kings Island, incorporated it into this park while improving what didn't work or what could have been done better at Kings Island. Their front gate is nothing like ours, at all. https://www.kingsdominion.com/images/uploads/file/2014%20Kings%20Dominion%20Park%20Map%20&%20Guide.pdf I highly recommend you get there as soon as you can, this season if at all possible. Not sure if Cedar Fair is planning on keeping Candy Apple Grove or the Mushrooms after this season, or if it's a 40th Anniversary only type of deal. Avalanche and Shockwave are must rides, as are Volcano: The Blast Coaster, Intimidator 305 and the list goes on...

I'll handle it on his behalf as Terpy is having a Dipper of a day! Yes. You know you love it! #jonathan

Yes. I have been on Rock N' Roller Coaster at Disney. That one slipped my mind. I actually enjoyed that one. I have not been on Expedition Everest. Last I was at Disney was 2007. In general, I'm not a fan of Vekoma.

^ This. You think the view from the top of KI's Eiffel Tower is beautiful. See nothing but the rolling countryside from the top of KD's! Interesting fact: Me and Lora were talking to the attendant at the top of the tower. There is a plant behind the park and supposedly they will provide power to the park in case of a blackout or power outage. Additionally, KD's elevator only runs in slow mode at a speed of 3 feet per second. I'm guessing it's against State Law for it to run faster or is it CF policy? For what it's worth, Kings Island runs their elevator in fast mode which is 6 feet per second.

The only suspended Boomerang I've been on is Invertigo at Kings Island. There's a reason I've only ridden it twice over the years. Like Lora, I rode Carolina Cobra at Carowinds a few weeks back, and surprisingly that was the most enjoyable Boomerang I've been on. Andrew, not a fan of anything that is made in Vlodrop, Netherlands...

I noticed this when I was sitting in 8-4 last night. They were added somewhere between last Saturday and yesterday . There's also a control unit for the camera between the second and third seats of each row on the bottom of the train. Was talking to Devan last night about it, I'm curious to see what the pricing structure will be on this. Two cameras total for each row. For example, if sitting in Row 8 they were mounted to the back of 7-1 and 7-4. You can see what I'm talking about in the above picture. Also it looked like the lens was moving around getting views of 8-3 and 8-4 while the ride was in motion as well?

I'm not sure on this so I apologize for not being able to help you out. If this is your first time to Kings Dominion, be sure to check out The Singing Mushrooms, and do not leave without riding Intimidator 305, Shockwave, Volcano, or Avalanche. Ride all coasters if you have the time, but those 4 in my opinion are must rides. Have FUN!

I'd be up for a return trip as well Lora, especially to Kings Dominion and Six Flags Great Adventure. Next year would probably be the best. Between my week in Tybee, Coastermania!, Banshee Media Day, KI Opening Day, and 2 days last week, I need to be as conservative as possible the remainder of the year with PTO. Everyone in our group that has a Platinum Pass got their monies worth...I will definitely be renewing and doing the Easy Pay just like I did this year for 2015. And this time I will be riding Kingda Ka, come Hell or high water...

My vote, of course, goes to Banshee. Honorable mentions go to Afterburn, Talon, Raptor, and Dragon Challenge (when they actually dueled)

I live 1 1/2 miles from the one in Beechmont...doesn't surprise me. I heard Union Township Police is there ALL THE TIME. Supposedly this, the Days Inn up the road, and Motel Beechmont have MAJOR drug problems as well.

Walked past Shake, Rattle, & Roll the other day on the way to Vortex. Down at the very bottom almost to the concrete, you can tell where wires were just cut and hanging.

What would you think if kings island was not owned by Cedar Fair.
Hoeter replied to CP&LERR Fan's topic in Kings Island
If CBS still owned the park, Kings Island (or any of the other former Paramount Parks: Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Canada's Wonderland, and California's Great Adventure) I believe wouldn't be operating today. -
Understood. Got there at 9am yesterday for the GOCC event, came back to my apartment in Eastgate and got a shower and quick nap in, came back to the park from 8-close. I was feeling rough when I left the first time yesterday. I'm still whooped over the trip last weekend. I'm surprised quite honestly that I stayed until Midnight.

I was out visiting Grandma earlier, she lives right down the road from the park. Was at the Columbia/Western Row intersection and got on I-71 South. I should have!

If I didn't just throw laundry in the dryer I would be there!

Once again, I've been Terpied... When will I learn?
-
Don, are you able to elaborate on how close you are to 100-million?
-
I think I can count on my hands the number of times I've seen the red side win this season. I went on the red side of Rebel Yell at Kings Dominion and the blue side still won. Went over and got on the blue side and got evacuated!

^ Ghost riding the whip?
-
^ I second that. Who better to ride with than the guy whose been on it 12,000 times and counting. Well deserving for Don to take part in that ride. For the 50 millionth ride on The Beast it would also be fitting if Carl Eichelman was in attendance and participated.
-
They have a counter on their operator panel (similar to Diamondback) that counts empty seats. Which leads me to this...how do you all keep track of the rides on, for example The Beast and The Racer? I assume you all have a log someplace of riders every year from 1972 or 1979 to now?
-
Ten days ahead of Diamondback...I really hope you all hit 2 million this year as Banshee is an amazing ride.

The Racer will give its 100-millionth ride this season, Diamondback will give its 10-millionth, and there is a chance The Beast could give its 50-millionth. Don, Comparing Banshee to 2009 when Diamondback opened...how is Banshee set to stack up this year against Diamondback in terms of riders its opening year? I'm almost positive Diamondback gave its millionth ride in 2009 but recall it being 2 million or more?
