  1. Agreed. I don't forsee KI going down the route with a stand-up coaster anytime soon, if ever. Last new B&M installation of a stand-up was Georgia Scorcher at SFoG in 1999. All others since then have been ones relocated within the Six Flags chain which I've both ridden at their new parks, Apocalypse at SFAm (former Iron Wolf at SFGAm) and Green Lantern at NJFTP (former Chang at SFKK). I never got to ride King Cobra when it was at Kings Island, but I did ride Shockwave at Kings Dominion earlier in the month. Safe to say I prefer B&M stand-ups more than TOGO. Stand-Up coasters are still offered by B&M per their website so it could happen, but given the amount of installs I wouldn't hold my breath. Giga...I would love for Kings Island to have one of these. Millennium Force and Intimidator 305 are both in my Top 5, with a slight preference to I-305. I would love for KI to have something identical to Intamin's latter installation, but I'm pretty sure that Cedar Fair and Intamin have already burned bridges permanently- Shoot the Rapids is a good example of why. I haven't been on Leviathan so I'm not sure if it delivers airtime in spades like Diamondback but given my experiences with B&M I would be satisfied with a giga made by them. I wouldn't mind an Intamin Blitz Coaster (Maverick) but again for reasons specified above, I don't think it will ever happen.
  2. I was at Carowinds for the first time ever at the beginning of this month. Look what me, LoraX, Princess Sparkles and company did! We scared him off and we scared all the nickels out of his pockets! Andrew, who just HAD to...
  3. Good article but I'm quite surprised Cedar Point wasn't mentioned more. Magnum XL-200 (1989) was the first coaster to surpass 200 feet and Millennium Force (2000) was the first to surpass 300 feet I'm surprised The Racer didn't get a nod as it was the coaster that re-ignited the coaster boom.
  4. Ride El Toro in the front seat...best airtime I have ever had on a coaster hands down! I need to get back to NJFTP to ride that, Bizarro, Nitro, and (finally) Kingda Ka.
  5. I heard this on CPFansite, not sure how credible it is. Paging Hydra...
  6. Like Devan said, Maggie got a new PLC this past offseason. B&M actually came in from what I heard and was responsible for the new system. From what I've heard, the airtime hills toward the end of the ride are much more tolerable than in years past. Rode it for the first time this year, one of the rides being in 1-1. Very painful. If that statement holds true, I would have left on a stretcher and that's no lie.
  7. 27 years old, Gary Wachs and Taft throw him the keys to Kings Dominion and tell him good luck. One lucky man right there...
  8. Have you been up to Cedar Point since they installed Gatekeeper? It's a huge ride that stands out against the rest of the coasters. Keep in mind that Thunderbird will only have 2 trains, which saved the Koch's a pretty penny as well...
  9. I've been wanting to get to Holiday World for years. I've heard absolutely nothing but good things about The Voyage. Next year I will be there, without a doubt. Ed Hart- ball is in your court, sir
  10. Already being discussed... http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/29477-66-days-at-sea/
  11. While on the topic of Dennis Spiegel, I was watching "Rollercoaster" right before we went out of town on our weekend trip. Sure enough, he was cast as the GM of Kings Dominion in the movie and IMDB has him credited. He must have been, what, in his 20's when he opened Kings Dominion? He certainly looks like he's in his late 50's/early 60's!

  13. "Ye olde big book of Racer: MCMLXXIII edition, forward written by Ann B. Davis"
  14. I'm interested in hearing about the sign! "The International Showplace dedicated to the biggest Dick in Hollywood." Now, that's excitement!
  15. Ahhh thanks bud. I see what you're saying now. Makes a world of difference!
  16. Well...it's gonna be awhile! 100,000,000 divided by 42 gets me 2,380,952 per year which of course means jack diddly. 1,000,000,000 divided by that number estimates that it will take 420 years for that to happen. The year? 2392.
  17. Chuck Yeager won't be happy to hear this...264 years before he broke the sound barrier.
  18. Gets to the top of the stairs, waits 30 minutes in line...ride goes down. Typical Vekoma. Oops, this isn't the Six Flags America forum? My bad...
  19. This...any ideas? I got nothing. VP of Operations Chris Kearsing provided this nugget: “My clue was in the title. Try misspelling Bastille.”
  20. I rode Diamondback 65 times in it's opening season. I'd say less than half of those were spent waiting in the single rider line. Once I saw people abusing the line, I started waiting in the regular queue. It wasn't fair to those who truly were riding by themselves.
  21. Can't tell you how many times I saw the single rider line for Diamondback abused. It was there only for 2009, maybe 2010. I can't remember. There's a reason it no longer exists.
  22. I figured he would have waited until tomorrow. That's when they are supposed to start selling the on-ride video, so I'm told...
  23. I will vouch for Terpy. Him and Devan rode in the row right in front of me, in a non-wheel seat. I was in the very back row with Upstop and it was one of the smoothest rides I've ever had on The Beast.
