  1. Already being discussed in the Cedar Point 2016 thread. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/30729-cedar-point-2016-talk/page-18
  2. Shoot The Rapids reportedly being demolished, not confirmed with Tony or the park. http://www.sanduskyregister.com/Business/2016/02/11/Shoot-The-Rapids-coming-down.html
  3. ^ Seconded. I would assume a lot of the GP doesn't know that Carowinds, Kings Island, Cedar Point, and so on are owned and operated by the same company. I've been to a couple of SIX parks. America and Great Adventure. My main gripe is the excessive advertising throughout the park. Why is it necessary to hang advertisements on the sides of Wild One at Six Flags America? Why is it necessary to wrap one train of El Toro to look like a Kia Soul? One thing I did like, if I used my Discover Card at Six Flags, not only could I get ERT into the park on certain days but I believe I could have gotten discounts in the park with it. I never tried it out so I'm not 100% sure.
  4. Don't forget to ride Fury 325 at night. Sadly, I did not get to ride during the day. My only ride was at night. One of the best night rides I've ever experienced. The green LED strip is visible from miles away headed north on Interstate 77. Also, the light gives off a good amount of green going up the lift hill.
  5. Camden Park is only a couple of hours from Lexington and you're probably, I'd say 8 or 9 hours from Kings Dominion. I believe Busch Gardens Williamsburg is further east than Kings Dominion but I don't think by much, maybe 50 or 60 miles. One thing to keep in mind...traffic. I would allow extra time as traffic in cities like Washington DC, Richmond, Baltimore, pretty much any city in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast, has way more traffic than in our region. If it takes you 30 minutes to go 30 miles here, it could take you 45 minutes or even an hour there. Being that Terpy is in that area, I'm sure he can relate in this situation. 6. Kings Dominion is about 25 miles north of Richmond, VA and 85 miles south of Washington, DC on Interstate 95. Dorney Park is about 60 miles north of Philadelphia in Allentown, PA on Interstate 78. Where would you be coming from?
  7. Same thing with the All-Season Dining Plans, the park may be in the process of evaluating these for the upcoming season.
  8. When I went on my trip in 2014, I visited three Cedar Fair parks. Dorney, Kings Dominion, and Carowinds. First year having a platinum pass, I was determined to get my money's worth. I'd say that I did and more. I also visited Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags America. Recommend all of them, except for Six Flags America. Two people in our group skipped Six Flags America and drove straight through to Doswell, which I wish I'd done as well. But I did ride the first B&M ever built, which was cool. Definitely visit Kings Dominion. Their front gate isn't as grand as ours and the layout of the park is weird as well. For example, on our International Street, Planet Snoopy is off to the right. Kings Dominion's is off to the left. There's nothing but backstage areas to the right of International Street. Dominator is in it's own little area which I thought was weird. Definitely ride Volcano, Intimidator 305, and Dominator. Backlot Stunt Coaster and Flight of Fear are identical to ours so I rode for the credit only. Avalanche is also a must ride. One of the coolest coasters I've ever been on. And don't forget Rebel Yell. If you've seen the 1977 movie "Rollercoaster" with George Segal, Henry Fonda, Timothy Bottoms, and a very young Helen Hunt, that coaster was featured. Speaking of Rebel Yell, that's the first and the only coaster I've ever been evacuated off of. Fun Fact: Dennis Speigel was in the movie as the GM of Kings Dominion, his actual job at the time. Make the most of your platinum pass. It paid for itself in spades in 2014 and 2015 for me.
  9. I've been to Carowinds twice, but never to Dollywood. I'm hoping to check it out at some point in the near future. Driving: If coming from Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, I would assume you'd stay on I-40 and exit onto I-77 south near Statesville, NC. I've never been this route. As I live on the east side of Cincinnati, I usually take I-77 from the park north to Charleston, WV, head west on I-64, come up US 35 and it's a straight shot west on State Route 32 in Ohio. From Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, it's only 5 hours or so from what I've heard. For me here, it's 8 hours to get to Charlotte. Hotels: First visit was in 2014, with LoraX and company. We stayed at the Motel 6 right off Carowinds Boulevard. This is one of the hotels closest to the park itself. In fact, going out to the car that morning, you could see Intimidator and Afterburn not too far off in the distance. There are numerous restaurants and gas stations right nearby as well, in case you need something before heading into the park. In 2015, when I went down to ride Fury 325, I stayed at the Quality Inn in Rock Hill, about 10 miles south of the park. Again, numerous gas stations and restaurants in the area before you get onto Interstate 77. Carowinds is a neat park as it straddles the South Carolina/North Carolina state line. When I first visited in July 2014, the construction for Fury 325 was underway and I knew immediately something big was on the horizon for the park. Also, the old plantation house entrance was one of the most unique entrances of any park I've experienced. Also, I did get a ride on one side of Thunder Road. Sadly, I never got to ride the other side before it closed for good. The new entrance at Carowinds is cool as well, as Fury 325 interacts 4 different times. The new gate itself? I would think I was up in Sandusky if I didn't know any better. Definitely ride Intimidator, Afterburn, and Fury 325 is a MUST RIDE. It's one of my top coasters to date. Also, our old Flying Eagles are at Carowinds. Definitely do not leave without riding those. I have forgotten both times I was there. Let us know about your experience to Carowinds!
  10. There's a vest restraint on Firehawk for your upper body which fastens shut. Below that is a ratcheting restraint similar to a lap bar on any other coaster. You board the ride seated in an upright position. Prior to dispatch, the seats will tilt back so when you leave the station you're looking up at the ceiling. The first ride may seem intimidating, especially the boarding, dispatch, and lie-to-fly element at the top of the lift but it's an enjoyable ride. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  11. One can only hope there's a larger flume making a return to Rivertown. For those who don't know, Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal stood on the site where the big box sits now as well as part of Diamondback. It closed in 2001. Per Google, from Kings Island's website. Again only time will tell and it's sure fun to speculate given the clues thus far. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  12. I was waiting for someone to say it! This is not an implication of any upcoming attraction to Kings Island in 2017. Additionally, I am not disclosing any rumors I may or may not have heard, whether credible or not. This is a disclaimer. Now I feel like Terpy! Had to... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  13. Same here. There's still a long while until opening day and until the public and the majority of us gets a better footing on what's taking place. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  14. I'm not sold on the speculation that the blueprints and Rob Decker's recent visit to Kings Island warrants that a new coaster is imminent for the park. Furthermore, I'm not convinced that when we do get a new coaster, that it will go over in the area where the queue line for White Water Canyon was previously, or in the area where the funnel cake stand was previously as well. Obviously time will only tell but for the moment I'm not buying into it. Rob Decker is the Corporate Vice President of Planning and Design for Cedar Fair so I'm sure he's involved in any new attraction for any of Cedar Fair's 14 properties, be it WindSeeker, Tropical Plunge, Woodstock Gliders, you name it, he's probably involved in some fashion. Just because a picture of Rob Decker and blueprints are posted on social media does not mean, in my opinion, that we are getting a roller coaster. It could be some other type of attraction. The park can always use more flat rides and more rides that cater to those who don't like roller coasters or who are scared of them. Just my two cents. Agree to Disagree.
  15. It is hard to believe. What's also hard to believe is 2008...8 years ago. I came to KIC then when the speculation was underway for Diamondback. Can't wait to see what speculating the future holds.
  16. I haven't ridden White Water Canyon in at least 5 years. Where exactly are the geysers on the map that jcgoble3 posted?
  17. How do we know Don was heavily involved in Fury's construction?
  18. I, for one, definitely like the nostalgic pictures Don and company are posting on social media. I'm sure there's plenty other interesting pictures that will be posted in the near future. Keep them coming Don!
  19. If it is Jeff Siebert, I expect a video such as this. Taken from KIC's YouTube page. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se4JwKazE8s
  20. Wonder if they've ever had plans for one on the EPCOT line? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  21. It used to be Disney's Golf Resort back in the day, I believe?
  22. Something I just realized, and I'm not sure if it's been brought up already or not. The closest Chick-Fil-A to Cedar Point now that the one in the park is gone? One in Perrysburg, which is south of Toledo. The rest are southwest of Cleveland. None of which are within 35 miles of the park. Kings Island? 4 within 10 miles of the park. Mason, Springdale, West Chester, and Bridgewater Falls.
  23. The only hotels on the monorail line are the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian? I swore there was one more in there somewhere.
  24. There were also numerous occasions where I saw the single rider line on Diamondback abused, which also possibly lead to its discontinuation.
  25. I've been to Walt Disney World several times. First visit was in 1998, where we visited Magic Kingdom and Disney's MGM Studios. We also visited Universal Studios, and keep in mind Islands of Adventure was still under construction- it would open the following year, but Animal Kingdom opened just days before we arrived. Second visit was 2001, this time around we visited just Magic Kingdom and also visited Universal Studios. These two visits we stayed offsite at a Days Inn or a Howard Johnson on U.S. 192, the main drag heading east toward Kissimmee. Third visit was in 2007, and this time we did stay on property at the All-Star Music Resort. We took my car down as it was fairly new and had a decent amount of room for a family of four and their luggage for the week. With the transportation onsite (buses, monorails, ferryboats, etc) I maybe drove 100 miles the entire week if we went to the beach, had to go to the store, left property to eat, etc. We visited all four Disney parks that year...Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney's MGM Studios. I have not been back to Walt Disney World since. Last visit to Central Florida was in 2009. That year, I visited both Universal Parks and got to experience a B&M for the first time. We stayed offsite then as well. A trip to Florida is long overdue. Eventually, I would LOVE to stay at the Contemporary Resort. The way it was constructed fascinates me and the monorail system is fascinating to me as well.
