  1. Half day was requested back in January for this and it's been approved! See you two weeks from Friday!
  2. Well you can always cut over to Colerain since Putz's is over off the Montana Avenue exit on I-74 and head up from there! I-74 west to Miamitown exit is a straight shot to Stricker's also!
  3. We'll see you then! And I've never had Putz's Creamy Whip. Definitely will have to check that out sometime. Hopefully no rain like the last time we met up!
  4. I may hit Stricker's up again on July 14th. Looks like the shortest route from KI to Stricker's is to take I-71 south to I-275 and head west to Colerain Avenue, exit 33. Then north on US 27 to State Route 128, then west from there a couple of miles. In total...29.8 miles from the park.
  5. Do it. We got Saturday also and the park is closed (as I've seen in the past) the Sunday of opening weekend. It's only 8 or 9 hours from DC to Cincinnati!
  6. Not sure if mentioned already but per KI's website...season passholder preview night. Friday April 15th from 5pm-10pm. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/things-to-do/events-and-promotions/Gold-and-Platinum-Pass-Exclusive-Preview-Night EDIT: I see that a separate thread for this has already been created. Carry on...
  7. Flight of the Son of Beasthawk or FOTSOB for short. Sorry I had to.
  8. It's well worth it. A lot of classic rides, plus two roller coasters (Teddy Bear and Tornado) I visited for the first time in 2014 and I highly recommend it.
  9. ^ I thought that as well when the announcement was made that Shockwave was no longer. Tear down one of the roughest wooden coasters I've ever ridden or the oldest un-modified stand up coaster still in existence? The former was my decision. I'd like to know specifically what they mean by "extensive rehab"
  10. Per KD Golden Years on Facebook, Hurler will not operate for the 2016 season.
  11. It took so long according to her that the ride itself shut down and had to be reset.
  12. No upcharge according to the poster (mutual friends with IBEW_Sparky and me) and not required. Speaking to her in the group chat now.
  13. My vote was for Invadr. Good to see a GCI being built instead of an RMC for once!
  14. The other night, I saw the episode of "The Partridge Family" set at Kings Island for the first time. A lot of scenes that I saw were filmed at the Kings Island Resort. Did not know Johnny Bench had a cameo as a waiter. Any updated pictures of the demolition itself?
  15. I've registered for the event and the 1:00pm Beast tour.
  16. I recommend any coaster or theme park enthusiast to check out this documentary as it was very informative. I highly enjoyed it. Did not know Dana Morgan's father was one of the founders of Arrow Development.
  17. See...I like the 2011 style platinum passes better than the style I've had since 2014. Have they started giving out new plastic with the updated logo?
  18. I'm still not convinced that a giga is imminent for 2017. Thinking this may be fill dirt for the construction in Rivertown. I'm still waiting for that Aquatrax and green INTAMIN track that was rumored years ago...
  19. I saw green B&M track on Friday while I was driving through a funeral procession, heading south on I-275 towards Kentucky. I believe the track was headed for Orlando. Has it been confirmed that the new Hulk will have the same layout as the original?
  20. Diamondback- The restraints on this ride is of a clamshell type that rests on your lap with hand bars built in. If you are afraid of heights, I wouldn't recommend sitting in row 1 or 2 as there is nothing in front of you. Also, I wouldn't sit in the back couple of rows as the first drop takes you by surprise. Personally, I love both the front and back on this coaster, and was something I did after I rode it several times. I've ridden Diamondback hundreds of times and have never had a bad experience on it. Vortex- Sit in the first row of the fifth car, 5-1. It was the very seat that Mr. Ron Toomer designed this ride around. The transitions from turns to straight track is abrupt and isn't nearly as subtle as on newer coasters like Banshee and Diamondback, but this ride opened in 1987 and it's come a long way since. Be prepared for the different turns and transitions to avoid any headbanging on this one. Over the shoulder restraints similar to The Bat as this was built by Arrow as well. Firehawk- I'd possibly ride Diamondback and Vortex first as this coaster offers a very different experience than any coaster in the park. There's a vest restraint and a lap restraint. You board the train in an upright position, and prior to dispatch you are laying completely on your back. You'll stay this way up the lift hill and transition into a flying position at the top. I rode it the year after it opened and the first ride was disorienting and not something I was used to. Can't help you at all on Drop Tower, Slingshot, and Skyflyer as I've never ridden any of these. In closing, roller coasters are very safe. In fact you are more likely to be in a car accident than be injured on any of these rides. All computer controlled, Diamondback moreso than the other two from what I've heard, roller coasters are very safe and a lot of fun. Enjoy your visit to the park!
  21. Completely forgot about that. I'm thinking that may be in fact where it's headed. One of my friends was down at Islands of Adventure today and posted a pic of the launch tunnel for Hulk without track coming out of it.
  22. Disney's Animal Kingdom? Nahtazu. I've never been to SeaWorld. Mako looks like a great addition to their lineup of B&M's, Kraken and Manta. And if you want more thrills that a Disney park or Universal can't provide, Busch Gardens is right down I-4. Definitely want to check it out. Off topic...who is getting a green B&M? Saw track this afternoon near my apartment in Clermont County headed towards the highway.
  23. The Beast! I had to do a double take on that picture of Shatner. I thought it was you at first, Ryan.
  24. I've been to two SIX parks. Great Adventure and America. One park was highly enjoyable for me and I hope to return and ride my favorite wood coaster and several other of their world class coasters. The other park is Six Flags America. I'm debating on renewing my SIX membership. I definitely want to visit Great America, and if I get to California, Magic Mountain.
  25. Never got the chance to visit Geauga Lake. Hardly a building standing, and then The Big Dipper sitting there. Truly sad.
