  1. UntamedBeast, what are you talking about? I caught something about The Beast and the Eagles in your post, but I didn`t catch much else. Try using some grammer and avoid run on sentences, becuase I have no idea what you are trying to say (something about a train almost coming off on The Beast?)
  2. I thought that these locations could be for new park maps. However, why would they have three of them outside the entrance to the park? I honestly hope they don`t plaster them with advertisements. I do believe the old ones had some advertisements on them. Why did the park remove the old park map locations anyway?
  3. I have seen a full viking ship this season. Every row was full, however the line that remained was for the highest seats on each side. Also, in 2001 or 2002, there was actually about a ten minute line for it and they had two of the queue lines open. I`m sure on BAFFD, the line for that ride is long. On busy days, the fact that it can seat 77 people helps the line move quicker.
  4. Has anyone else noticed the new concrete squares that have sprung up around the park? The pads are about 4 feet by 4 feet wide. In the center of all of them there is a metal receptacle box, which I assume is for electricity. There are three scattered in the grass outside the metal detectors. There is also one outside the Skeeball building in Coney Mall, one across from the restrooms in Rivertown near the Wild Thornberrys River Adventure. There is also one located outside the restroom in Rivertown by the Rivertown Pizza. I would assume that they are for some sort of map? But it wouldn`t make sense to have three of them outside the entrance. Has anyone else noticed these? Any clues to what purpose these will/do serve?
  5. When I rode Flight of Fear on Sunday, it was extremly dark. There were only a couple of the colored lights on, and most of the time, the ride was in complete darkness. For most of the ride, I couldn`t see my hand in front of my face. Despite having riden Flight of Fear numerous times in the past years and this season, it disoriented me. Part of this could have been because the trim break was actually on, not as hard as it used to be, but you definantly notice that it is on.
  6. Including the pass holder previews? Wow, that`s a lot of times!
  7. On Sunday, I got the first ride of the day on The Beast, courtesy of the ACE walkback. It was running rather slow. By the time I got off and walked back into line and rode again it was going faster. When I rode it again around 1, it was going pretty fast, with the first car or two reaching the first booth on the second lift. Also, I`m assuming just for the spring, but if you look at The Beast`s secon hill, you will see that the park has temporarily removed two of the trim brakes. They are sitting on the right catwalk and you can see the spot where they were removed from.
  8. Yeah, I was a little surprised how crowded the park was on Sunday. the line for Son of Beast around 11:30 was already out of the station and started where the line left the Top Gun plaza! However, after I saw that long line for Son of Beast, I headed to The Beast and walked on! When I left at about 12:30 there were still a lot of people coming into the park.
  9. I didn`t go to the park on Saturday because of the rain. However, I went yesterday morning, before it got slightly crowded. Anway, while I was riding Top Gun at about 11:30, one of the workers (on the entrance side of the station) told me "nice shirt" in regards to my SFWoA X-Flight shirt. Was that anyone on here?
  10. I was at the park today a and have some small updates to offer. While on the train, I noticed that there were still workers working near the entrance of Boomerang Bay. Also, it appeared as if they were testing some of the water effects on Jackeroo Landing. Additionally, they must have been training/testing Coolangatta Racers because i saw two or three peopl in swimsuits heading up the stairs with mats. A little chilly to be testing that ride today. The bright colors of the park look pretty good. It should be interesting to hear the reviews after the park opens.
  11. I did not enjoy Smash Factory. It was fun, but I found some of the movements in it to be a little violent and jerky. To each their own though.
  12. I went last year for AP Physics. We went on one of the alternative days, which happened to be the day after Memorial Day, so the park was open to the general public. I was the only person who had a season pass and got in free. Even though the park was open to the gp, lines were almost non-existant, because most schools were still in. My Physics teacher gave us a packet and told us to complete it, but since there were only two days of class until we graduated, he made it an extra credit assignment, which I didn`t do because I already had an A in the class.
  13. It was called Gulliver`s Rub a Dub and was located next to the restrooms in HB next to the Busytown grill. In fact, the current location of Atom Ant Airways is about where the ride was located. Additionally, before the Paramount Story, that area was known as Tower Gardens. Before that, that location was indeed home to an open air balloon theater, which I believe was home to a Sid and Marty Kroft marienette puppett show. I don`t know when the theater disappeared, but I do know that Sid and Marty had shows at Coney Island before their shows at Kings Island.
  14. Gold pass holder night shouldn`t be that bad, certainly not as crowded as this past weekend at the park. However, all the local channels are calling for rain and thunderstorms tomorrow, so the park may not be fully operational for the entire night.
  15. I was figuring admin could change their post counts. Especially when i saw that you went from being one of the top posters to haveing a negative post count.
  16. Thanks for the update Coasterdime. I know that he was busy promoting the Coney book. I also know that originally a date of 2003 was tossed around, but nothing official. Whenever it comes out, I hope it is as good as the Coney book!
  17. PKI will not remove smooth "family" rides for new roller coasters. Afterall, they are a family theme park going after families. Sure, they market to thrill seekers, but unfortunatly, that is not where all the money sits. If PKI wants to get money so that they can attract those thrill seekers, they have to first attract families with all the money.
  18. No problem. Incidentally, Jeff Gramke is featured on the 25th anniversary Beast documentary.
  19. Actually, I read somewhere on the web about two weeks ago that PKI only makes about $2 million a year off of games. While this is a large amount of money (I personally thought that this total would be higher, and it might be that the place I read it at had incorrect information), it pales in comparison to the money the park generates from food, merchandise and admissions. I heard that the park has a revenue of over $100 million a year. Although most of that is spent on staff wages, replacement parts (they spend about $100,000 on new wheels alone each season), landscaping, utilities, taxes, etc. What is left over is what the park spends some of it on new attractions.
  20. No offense, but in my opinion, the original theming on Top Gun while it added some experience to the ride, was not the factor that made it a fun or not fun ride. The theming added little to the overall ride experience. Top Gun is still one of the best suspended coasters I`ve riden. Yes, it would be nicer if it was longer, but I`ll take what I can get.
  21. I know that in Charles Jaques Jr.`s book, in the first couple of pages he said that the Coney Island book was the first in a series of three about Cincinnati amusement parks. The secon book was to be about Kings Island and the third book about American/Lesourdville Lake and Chester Park. Last I heard is that Charles was busy promoting the Coney Island book. However, that has been out for more than a year now. Does anyone know if he has started writing the Kings Island book or when he plans to release it? The Coney Island book was very well written and had amazing pictures! I can`t wait until he releases his Kings Island book!
  22. I was surfing the net when i came across this article from the Cincinnati Post. It was written for The Beast`s 20th anniversary, but has some nice information and tidbits in it.
  23. I having a feeling, based on comments that I have heard, that the movie in side B will probably be similar to the well recieved movie that started playing in the IMAX theater at Union Terminal recently.
  24. To be honest, does any one really care what type of creature The Beast is? I know it is fun to speculate, but I could care less. The only thing you actually see are the two claws in the logo, and the eyes on Son of Beast. To go along with the theme from SoB, The Beasts are supposed to be wild creatures that are on the loose in the woods of Ohio. You are supposed to go out on a scouting mission to try ans spot these dangerous creatures.
  25. TraderJake, it sound like you have seen BB, which at this point, all the construction should be wrapping up. What do you think of the waterpark now? How does Kookaburra Bay look? I`m glad to hear that the new attractions look and sound fun. Only about one more week before gold pass holders can catch a glimps of BB.
