I guess you don't remember what entertainment used to be like at the park. Big Sigh! That doesn't just make me sigh! I'm having chest pain! I think if we would drop Ringmaster into the park in say "1982" his head would just explode with the diversity and quality of shows that were in ever part of the park and at least two or three shows going on every hour from 11am to 9pm. OH SO TRUE! It is amazing how the people that were born after 1985 don't know pre-paramount Kings Island. If they did, they would so understand! -adam12

Oh, my friend, you could not be further from the truth! I'm a big fan of Kings Island, I LOVE THE PLACE! It is Paramount I'm after, I've never had words with a corporation before, but if I ever get the chance with Paramount or Viacom should I say... LORD HELP EM'!!! I hope they remove 110% of it, and for the Paramount Story, they need to burn that area and call in the HAZMAT crew. Once it is cleaned up, open a memorial about how a corporation wiped its A$$ with an amusment park. The following are not original creations for the park, they are named after Paramount creations... They will have to remove a lot of theming and figure out what to do with it, I would probably just remove all the theming and keep it as a huge inside top spin. Maybe freak people out by turning the lights on and off. SOB, like I said before, is a FREAKING miracle! I don't know how they ever convinced the execs to spend the money and not have Paramount branding on it. I think Delirium was a nice addition to the park; it has to be the coolest flat ride I have seen in a while. All the new owners will have to do is change the name. The Hanna Barbara name wasn't used because the original owners owned the name. They paid for the rights because they characters where popular. Paramount uses names because they own them and they want them promoted, not because they are popular. I really don't think I could be convinced that Kings Island has made more money because everything has Paramount branding on it. People don't go to Kings Island due to the ride names, they go to be entertained (amused)! I guess what I'm saying is that Kings Island needs to be something special on its own without help from other entertainment media. Kings Island was not created to promote movies or serve as toilet paper for a large movie and TV production company. -adam12

If these attendance numbers are so great, lets see them! Everyone talks the talk but never walks the walk... I have heard the numbers are down in the last couple of years. They changed the kind of park Kings Island once was. Kings Island started out as an amusement park not a theme park. The park had all kinds of entertainment and AMUSEMENTS, such as, awesome shows, and other entertainment like a clown band. Disney World still does things like that, I feel so much more entertained at Disney. Don’t start in on the funding, it doesn’t cost that much to have more entertainment compared to installing a 10 million dollar ride. Atmosphere (theme) is one thing, but being entertained (amused) is another. The last thing that burnt me that Paramount did other than putting the "Paramount" name on everything is they removed the show from the Festhaus. Now there are 3 or 4 large screens with low end projectors promoting Paramount’s latest films and shows. It really burns me when I pay money to hear advertisements! 5 things Paramount has done that I appreciate: 1.) Expanded the water park twice –That was very impressive. 2.) Son of Beast –This should be like the 3rd wonder of the world, I can’t believe they cared enough to carry on the tradition! 3.) Completely reconstructed the royal fountain. –I was impressed with this one! 4.) Brought back Winterfest –After they killed it 10 years ago. 5.) Installed Metal Detctors I have had a season pass to Kings Island for the last 5 or 6 years. Before that I had a pass in 1990, 91, 92, and 93. The difference between 1990 and now both good and bad seem to be VERY extreme. For instance, they Built Son of Beast, but yet they don’t take care of the other rides like AE, few of the special effects work, they have removed all the shows but 2, and the cleanliness and up keep of the park isn’t anywhere near what it once was. -adam12

There are 2 key points you hit on here that drive my thoughts home. :-) 1.) Yes I'm talking about "leasing Viacom rights" They should have made the rides original to the park, just like the creators of the park did. 2.) Yes the parks are worth a lot, but they would be worth more if they were maintained like they were meant to be. Paramount doesn't keep up the rides. Example: TRTR, FOF, TG, AE just to name a few. I have also noticed the park isn't near as clean as it use to be. I understand costs go up and labor goes up, but so do the ticket prices, but I don't see the quality of the park staying the same. sad... -adam12

Paramount shouldn't have ever put their name on the park. I personally think it cheapened up the park, it made it a little Wal-Martish if you ask me. I don't have a problem with the park changing owners every 10-12 years, but for heaven sake, leave the park as a single entity! Let it be the special one of a kind thing it is and let it show its unique beauty. If I were a prospective buyer of the park, I would be rather upset that everything has Paramount on it. I would feel like I was buying something that another company made their own, screwed it up and is now trying to sell it. It will cost 100s of thousands of dollars to remove Paramount label from everything. I'm also interested to know if this website will change its address/name when the sale of Kings Island goes through. You all need to read this article!!! It pretty much explains how Kings Island has been tossed around like a red headed step-child. Kings Island hasn't been owned by a company that really cared about the park other than what money it was bringing in since the original owners. The only reason Paramount owns the park is because it came with the package deal that Viacom acquired. Since ONLY the parks are being sold this time, who ever the buyer is will want to be in the amusement/theme park business. When they think about spending money on the park, bean counters will probably not be involved near as much. They will want to see the park be all it can be. In conclusion, yes the park will be bought as an investment. BUT it won't be packaged together with other companies that have nothing to do with the amusement/theme park business. I agree 110%! I Like Rock as well, but most of the artists I would want to see are dead! Or at least the group is not together anymore.
