  1. The pedantics can self-rationalize it all they want. To me, Boo Blasters is in Planet Snoopy.
  2. I don't want just the sprucing up of Boo Blasters- I want it completely redone top to bottom- new theme and name, new animatronics, the whole nine yards.
  3. This is the part of this hobby I enjoy- hearing enthusiasts from other places go on about their parks. Good pictures for sure. I also like doing other things than parks on my trips just for the sake of variety and change of scenery.
  4. Yes, Wikipedia, the greatest of all sources. (/sarcasm) Hint: If you couldn't tell by the sarcasm tag, Wikipedia isn't a good site to source, so much so that college professors will auto-fail papers for listing them as sources. Anyways, I'm not here to go on about the ride, just a post to break up the tension of the thread. You may now return to your regularly scheduled decoding thread. silver2005, crossthreading.
  5. ^I've mostly had that happen with Beast. Sometimes if they request that I take another seat, I'll wait another ride cycle to get it, and they actually go along with that request more often than not from my experiences.
  6. The thing that weirds me out with them is when you request to go in the front row of a coaster, the line for the front is really long, and they still make you wait before the separation despite the fact they allowed the front seat line to be super long in the first place.
  7. Just out of curiosity, which area crew is the new Tiques crew with?
  8. If you're adventurous, Muskegon has some pleasant surprises. The areas around the bay and Lake Michigan are nice areas to relax. A few decent restaurants there as well. MIA is probably the most underrated park I've been to. Just don't go in expecting too much, enjoy the dated architecture (gives it its own charm IMO), get plenty of rides on Shivering Timbers, and its a pretty fun park. Next time I get the itch to go to CP, I'm absolutely doing MIA again (probably Waldameer, too).
  9. On launch coasters- LSM and LIM tech (in fact, I think its almost entirely LSM tech now) used on coasters has been made much more efficient than the days of Premier's early work.
  10. I think flying coasters are slowly going the way of the stand up coaster at this point. They're really not that comfortable regardless of who makes them. Inverted, floorless and wing coasters pull off that sense of flight and unobstructed views and seating better.
  11. Question- did the whistles on the locomotives used to be louder? I seem to recall being able to hear them from outside the park. I have no preference BTW.
  12. I think wing coasters are the new invert. They have the same visual appeal plus they're popping up more than dive coasters at the moment.
  13. ^malem and I have a giant message thread (by giant, I mean we're on 16 pages now) between each other titled 'Holiwood Nights' back from when I was contemplating going either last year or the year before and 95% of the message thread is not about HWN except recently while we're getting plans to go this weekend.
  14. Maverick was made by Intamin and Copperhead Strike was made by Mack. If you want a good site that helps explains types and manufactures- RCDB.com
  15. I have a question with the ease at which parks' blueprints can be obtained- why don't parks announce right after they file the blueprints?
  16. I distinctly remember this exact conversation around Banshee's construction that they somehow wouldn't surpass Raptor despite Raptor being one of the smaller B&M inverts, and, IMO, Banshee is much better than Raptor. Also, as nice as MF is in terms of ride experience, I think B&M can greatly improve upon it even if our giga in question is short on some stats comparatively speaking.
  17. I think at this point, no one would really shed a tear if this park went under.
  18. Holidays are really hit or miss. I've been to the park on July 4th a bunch of times with pretty lax crowds.
  19. Paramount did produce a few MCU movies before Emperor Mouse acquired Marvel...
  20. I would like to point out that they can open the Blue side and not the Red side as the Blue side was the forwards side when the Red side was recaR and they usually opened the backwards side later in the day.
  21. To be fair, the turn around does kind of look like an inclined dive loop/Immelman. It'd be cool if that turn around had some sort of ridiculous banking to it.
  22. He also pegged Diamondback as a dive coaster based entirely on the splash construction.
  23. I thought of a good record if terrain is playing a role in this- how about the most drops over 200 ft?
  24. I think the average park goer wants more than a one trick pony kind of coaster. Sure, TTD and Kindga Ka were big back in the day, but I feel tastes have changed especially with the likes of RMC and Mack being more inventive with element designs and having more meat in a layout and theming is more of a thing people want/expect. With the price you'd pay for a TTD clone, you could get a few other rides combined, basically boiling down to ROI. Intamin has so far been the only manufacture to even think about going 400 ft and not many are willing to go with them, though they are very slowly coming back. And I simply don't see the others trying to go for it.
  25. I don't think we'll see a coaster topping 400 ft again for a while, if ever.
