  1. Also- Good googly moogly are there a lot of people on the site right now.
  2. Are you making those lift length predictions going on a straight line? This thing is going to be going up at a 45 degree angle. The elevation change will probably add more length.
  3. Current giga lengths (all info from RCDB)- Millennium Force- 6,595 ft Steel Dragon 2000- 8,133.2 ft (longest coaster in the world) Intimidator 305- 5,100 ft Leviathan- 5,486 ft Fury 325- 6,602 ft
  4. On the yellow box- look at how many of the footings line up. The supports will be paired, with one footing perfectly vertical and the other being to the side. Looks like the footings for the diagonal supports switch sides through that element (probably the final elevated brake run going by previous B&M gigas). EDIT: See the black line I added.
  5. If I understand the lengths enthusiasts go to after years of underestimating them, setting the time aside to analyze that is no issue. silver2005, who plans on being very meta this decoding season.
  6. Enthusiasts often tout bogus rumors to coming from Dippin Dots employees as they are branded as 'Ice Cream of the Future'. But Lemon Chill employees are responsible for the even more bogus rumors IMHO.
  7. And now, KIC will explode from online traffic.
  8. Bansheeback should now work for a Dippin Dots stand so that they now can leak real news and restore their reputation as rumor mills.
  9. What, you guys don't want a hockey themed coaster named The Don Helbig Experience?
  10. Part of me is thinking they might still do a Beast reference just to get the SOB crowd off their backs.
  11. So, you guys thought you actually found permits. I have a feeling we could be bringing up this meme quite a bit this summer.
  12. That kind of exposure is part of why we need to continue to be thorough with verifying information and siting sources properly.
  13. With the other 2 B&M giga's, did CW or Carowinds announce before or after they went vertical? Granted, both of them had little to no clearing necessary.
  14. How does the 1/3rd factor in?
  15. I'd be on board with that, but I'm not going to be disappointed if its not. Its still a giga coaster after all.
  16. You can make the arguments that people can want a record breaking giga and acknowledge that KI is already on the map at the same time. They aren't mutually exclusive from one another.
  17. And I made my point with adding my info about KI's history and the history of the industry in general. Kings Island is in a healthy position from a business standpoint, which means they're 'on the map' despite the lack of what you think are record breaking rides and rides that are the first to do something. Amusement parks aren't successful entirely by building roller coasters. One flashy giga won't change that. The people claiming that KI 'isnt on the map' are suggesting, whether on purpose or not, that KI's business model hinges on this one ride being built for 2020. Saying and defending the notion that KI isn't on the map proves that point (this last sentence was edited in). That kind of claim is going to get backlash and will have people that don't agree (including yours truly). Like if you want to discuss it, by all means do so, but don't think your ideas aren't going to meet resistance. And yes, I, and I imagine many others, will continue to have the opinion that the notion of Kings Island not being 'on the map' is ludicrous.
  18. ^You made the claim that KI somehow 'wasn't on the map' without providing any proof or a logical conclusion of how you came upon that claim.
  19. @New Horizons @DonkeyKong So I can't rebut opinions with facts and my own opinions? That's a huge gaslighting argument. Do you not have your own opinions that can back up your claims and rebut mine? If you're going to get involved in a discussion like this, you ought to be prepared to defend your positions. Claiming I'm somehow preventing you from responding is disingenuous and putting words in my mouth.
  20. There's a lot of nuance in this discussion that some you guys are really ignorant of. 1. This whole argument that somehow, Kings Island isn't 'on the map' and needs to be put on it has been thoroughly lambasted and debunked tons on this site, why some of you choose to still die on that hill is beyond me. 2. What 'firsts' are there really to do with a giga? Back in the 80's, the coasters that pulled off the 'firsts' were easier to come by. If you go through the history of roller coasters, steel coasters didn't really start becoming a thing until the 60's, and then adding inversions (only loops and corkscrews) in the 70's, which Arrow, Scwarzkopf and eventually Togo were the spearhead of. The 80's was when the diversity of types that you can only accomplish with a steel coaster came into fruition, which was supercharged in the 90's with what B&M and eventually Intamin and Premier would bringing to the table in that period. Now a days, we're closer to the of a plateau of what coasters have reached so coming up with the 'first' for something has to be something pretty creative. Giga's have been done before (there are 5 of them currently from 3 different designers) and aside from adding a few new elements or padding the stats, you can't really do much with a giga that would have the impact that Millennium Force had back in 2000, and even those few minute changes won't come close to what Millennium Force accomplished. We're not going to see anything like we saw in the 80s and 90s happen again in the industry. 3. Also consider where Kings Island stood in the food chain between the Paramount era and the Cedar Fair era. Paramount only had 5 parks and had the backing of a huge multimedia company for finances. Now, they're in a chain of 11 parks with some pretty big hitters such as Knott's and Cedar Point added to the mix where CF has to rotate their spending to accommodate all their parks in a way that has the best outcome in the ROI.
  21. One other thing I think KI ought to do while they're paying attention to X-Base (along with adding restrooms) would be a more thorough refurb of the Flight of Fear building, particularly the queue. Also, perhaps tune up the block sections so it doesn't come to a complete stop at the MCBR? Also, has Premier ever dabbled in using on-board audio? I could see that not working as the added weight will affect how the trains pace through the course and it is a bit prone to roll-backs, but if they could make it work, that'd be sweet.
  22. When I rode Blue Racer tonight, I saw signs of digging around the former Firehawk grounds, like around 4-5 parallel lines of dug out soil, and they were somewhat close to the Flight of Fear building. Maybe we'll see footings start to be dug out?
  23. So I have been pretty critical of the food service in the past, but tonight I have to give credit where credit is due. The food service so far this season is really good for this time of year. Props to the food department for the improvements.
  24. From my perspective, the taller water jets reflected more of the light and that difference alone was an improvement. I also noticed what lights are there now are more in sync with the Eiffel Tower lights. Also, the new trees along International Street are starting to really pop now that they're getting their leaves.
