  1. Surprised this didn't end up in this topic (and apologies if it's already in another one): @KIGMGREG: "Stunt Crew Grill no more!" Photo: Greg Scheid/Kings Island. The original tweet can be found here.
  2. ^^ I guess I was under the assumption that your subscripts were meant to be superscripts. If they were, a1 = 21-1 + 1 a1 = 20 + 1 a1 = 1 + 1 = 2
  3. BeastForever: Yeah... we'll go with that. Also, your equation is right, except it doesn't work for ohiocolts' first year at Haunt, as that would return a1 = 2. I'm too lazy to think up a new one, haha. Terp: Of course, I agree that math(s) is important. I was just being self-deprecating and a little sarcastic, including during the comment about English. I've got a huge knack for not making sense when talking/typing on the fly or if I'm otherwise preoccupied, which is what happened in the original post to ohiocolts. Sorry!
  4. How does anyone here, apart from (maybe) Don and/or Sara, vote for Banshee? Y'all haven't ridden it yet.
  5. I mean, math isn't actually THAT important, right...? (Neither's using English to properly communicate what you actually meant by "up by odd numbers," either, haha.)
  6. No. Let's not go crazy here. Clearly he would rather go up by odd numbers instead of powers of three. One haunt in 2012, three in 2013, five in 2014, etc. Just trying to be helpful...
  7. Does anyone else feel like there's some weird forced perspective (or whatever the appropriate term is... do I look like an artist to you?!) thing going on with Eve? No matter what direction pictures are aimed at it, it always seems like the eyes are looking towards the camera and the claw is opened towards it.
  8. ^ I'm a pretty big sucker for coasters with a sense of increasing pacing and/or quick/forceful changes in direction. I generally tend to love most of the CCI rides I've been on because they typically have one or both of those features. There's also a tendency on their rides (as well as GCI's and TGG's, though not as noticeable) to combine airtime with a sudden increase in laterals, which really makes this unique out-of-control feeling that just doesn't exist elsewhere. It's unnerving and exciting to get thrown out of your seat, then feel like you'll be tossed over the side of the car while you're still in midair. Boss has all of those features. There's big drops, unexpected airtime, sudden and strong laterals, and quick changes in direction. The first half is slowish-paced but fun, and then you go past that turn after the MCBR and the thing kicks into overdrive and starts taking these airtime-and-lateral-filled quick turns down the hill it's sitting on. The intensity of the ride doubles, and it's just awesome. It feels something like a hypothetical prequel to some airtime-focused cross between Legend and Voyage at Holiday World, and it's amazing. *cough* I mean, uh... It's just cool and stuff. Yeah.
  9. Hmmm....contacted the park via their website 3 days ago....still no answer. Simple question, will lockers be available? Have you tried emailing or private messaging Don directly? If you're on the attendee list, you should have his email address. He sent out the informational email. You could also try calling the park. I don't have a reason for why you don't have your answer already, but Don's evidently been quick to answer everyone else on here who has asked something.
  10. Fun PTR! Thanks for posting. I love Six Flags St. Louis like I built it. Sounds like you had a bit of a rough day there, what with Boss, Boomerang, and Batman all down. (Curse of the B-coasters?) Have you visited it before, or was that your first visit? Glad you seem to have had a good enough time in St. Louis to make up for it. You might have already read some post of mine somewhere about this before since I tend to not shut up about it, but I love Boss something crazy. It's my favorite wooden coaster, even above Voyage and El Toro. It's a polarizing ride (with most enthusiast opinions to the negative--it gets a bad rap for being rough), but I think it's amazing. If you haven't ridden it before and get the chance to revisit, I can't not recommend a ride in that thing in the last row. But that's just me; I also think that Georgia Cyclone is the best ride at Six Flags over Georgia and that there's no better row to sit in on Beast than the last row. Your mileage may vary!
  11. The park has stated their expectations for attendees. If anyone's worried about how much the park will split hairs when it comes to apparel, contact the park. They have made it clear that they are open, willing, and speedy to answer any questions concerning Media Day. They want it to go as well as you do. There really isn't a legitimate reason to have the whole "I drove an hour and got turned away because the park didn't like my shoes" scenario at this point. If it seems questionable, then ask the question so you won't have a disappointment on April 17. They're obviously going to answer.
  12. There's no yellow or red at the bottom of those two legs of Delirium. It seems awfully late in the off-season to start repainting--well, anything--but Delirium would seem to have quite a lot less surface area to paint than The Bat or Xtreme Skyflier... Hmm. Maybe there's something to that rumor about repainting it that Screamscape posted a few months back? EDIT: There also appears to be some sort of cherry picker entering on the Banshee side, with its bucket extended toward the motor at the top. I'd post a webcam capture if I could.
  13. ^ Which actually makes me think... Wouldn't it be neat to have the Phantom Theater organ music (sans Maestro--or maybe just one laugh, toned down in the background somewhere to add a spooky edge) play in the Banshee queue? It'd be a neat throwback that continues the "deceased rides" theme from the announcement while still adding something to the theme? I mean, I'm really not getting my hopes up that they'll do something special music-wise. (Not that I mean to sound disappointed! Kings Island has vastly exceeded my expectations this season, and I love just about every thing they're doing for 2014!) I just know that Carowinds' version of FUN TV, while a nice change, didn't feature any music you wouldn't have expected from Diamondback's queue since 2009. It's just a thought, that's all.
  14. ^^ If you have the audio file that I have, the track is split so that the music is on the right side and the voice is on the left. You can split the audio in certain computer programs. Thanks to that, I've got a text ringtone of just the voice of "now you will pay". That also means that I have to switch my phone to vibrate every time I go to the bathroom. I have a recurring fear of having some voice say "NOW YOU WILL PAY" when there are other people in the bathroom and it's quiet.
  15. Correct. That event was also open to the public. Also, it was before any significant requests had been made by the park related to our coverage of Banshee. I'm not saying I know something; I'm just saying that it isn't going to hurt to contact him.
  16. ^ I would highly recommend getting Don's permission before trying to stream anything online from Media Day. With all the requests that have been made so far related to Banshee, that seems like it could easily be something they don't want happening if you aren't actually part of the news media.
  17. Whaddya know... It does say "Haunted Hill". Fooled me! Also, the new front gates look nice.
  18. Universal Studios Singapore MAY remove Battlestar Galactica by the end of the year: https://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/what-is-buzzing/troubled-universal-studios-singapore-ride-battlestar-galactica-closes-084334087.html Thought this was fairly interesting. Vekoma seems like it's really turned over a new leaf recently, but the quality of this ride from a business standpoint seems to leave quite a lot to be desired.
  19. Like Dane posted in the other topic, let's not discuss the schedule for the day in any further detail. Like malem said, can we please automatically divert any Media Day questions to Don, Dane, or your enthusiast club? There really isn't a good reason to post any questions about Media Day on the forum at this point, apart from general questions that new members might ask (like "what is Media Day", etc.--nothing that covers any specific information from the email.) I don't mean to sound like I consider myself any authority on the forum. I'm not calling out anyone in particular, either, even though this post sounds like I'm calling out Coasterama. It's just a suggestion, and I'm hoping people will join me in playing it safe. I like having the opportunity to participate in Media Day.
  20. If The Beast would leave behind footprints, The Bat would leave behind... Oh dear. That's an awkward thing to paint.
  21. Yes. To attend media day, you have to 1. Be a part of a coaster enthusiast club, and 2. Register within the registration period. The registration period has passed, so no one can register to join the event. More than likely, a registration timeframe is done so that Kings Island can have an accurate head count for how much food to make during meal(s), etc.
  22. I was going to point out that it didn't have them on Saturday... so yeah, that IS odd. Why the (possible) change, I wonder?
  23. EDIT: Oh, for heaven's sake. I was the third one to post that picture!
  24. ^ Oh no! I was afraid of this! Do I at least get a gold star for trying?
  25. It certainly matters at Carowinds. Hurler and Afterburn are awesome, for the record.
