Oh, joy.

Thin is good, actually. It doesn't break as easily as the DB cups did, also the carriers and straws don't get lost nearly as easily. I personally like anything that fits under the drink machine without removing the ice tray, which is pretty much everything except the 2011 cups. If it doesn't fit under the drink machine, maybe that's a sign that it's too big...?

I can't believe that the instructions posted next to many of the phones that say PKI on them are still there. So easy to change...
-
1. I think the credit card thing is more difficult to change, since it's not totally controlled by the park. 2. The original logo? Yes. Not where guests can see it, but yes. 3. The PKI phone menu only showed up when you "broke" the real phone menu ("Thank you for calling Kings Island and including us in your vacation and entertainment plans...") and got into what supposedly the phone menu for the park's internal phone system. (Try calling the park's public phone number and pressing *...) 3. Paychecks don't say Paramount Parks anymore. They've said Kings Island since at least 2010, but direct deposit didn't say Kings Island until this year.

Remember how the TVs left in The Beast station looked last year? Those TVs would mostly be broken by now, and the Pantel TVs that are in DB's line are really expensive, they'd need to sell quite a few Fast Lane wristbands to make up for the cost of just one. http://panteltv.com/outdoorproducts.html

It's a glass made by a marketing person who's probably never ridden any of the listed rides. I wouldn't give it too much thought.
-
That reminds me... you know, it's funny seeing a shipping label that says "PARAMOUNT'S Kings Island WindSeeker 2011".
-
No, they actually kept it at the park. It's what the metal backings for the employee nametags are made from. (I love starting stupid rumors)

"Do you have root beer?" "No." "Ok, then I'll have root beer."

I always thought it still drifted, just a little bit.

If you look at a receipt from the bar at Outer Hanks Bar it still refers to "Hank's Favorite" as "Forrest's Favorite".

Dippin Dots Guy: What's His Future?
CedarPointer replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Every time someone wonders why KI's (and everywhere else's) Dippin Dots are so expensive... http://www.dippindots.com/products/lines/originalDots.html $30 per gallon... I wonder how much blue ice cream costs per gallon! (I never understood why I would pay more for Dippin Dots than regular ice cream for a much smaller portion. But I guess that's just me. Or maybe not.) -
My English class had a lengthy discussion today about how Vortex is sinking and WS opened late because the water dummies all fell out during testing. I don't think I can spend the rest of the year with that class.

I still have a strong, strong suspicion that CF was going to try doing that... look at all the original Cedar Fair KI logos that have the corporate logo with the two coasters crossing and "Cedar Fair Entertainment Company" underneath.

Snoopy Rocks On Ice? Gosh, that sounds familiar.

Carowinds to get Windseeker in 2012

This one doesn't seem like their fault, though. -

Unpopular compared to the rest of the rides at CP. I'd bet that it has one of the worse operating cost to ridership/popularity ratios in the park... Although I guess means there'll be more explaining where my username came from... -

I can see how this is a win win on CP's part. A new money-making attraction to replace a old, money-guzzling, fairly unpopular (with the GP) ride. -

Something I felt like mentioning about souvenir cups...
CedarPointer replied to CedarPointer's topic in Kings Island
If it says KI or PKI on it or is recognizable as a KI cup (I suspect if it had a logo/character but no KI logo, the less knowledgeable among us might not know it's a KI cup...), it can be refilled. Also anything is refillable with ice water (ice as long as they don't need to touch the scoop to the cup to get it in, anything with a wide opening should be fine). -

The DB cups broke a LOT more easily than the WS/DA/pink cups, but the WS cups don't actually fit under our drink machines, which is really annoying. I do, however, think it's funny how they don't fit through the order window with the lids on... it's a sign from above, you need to take the lid off! (I think the other CF parks tended to use the bigger cups... the old Maverick and STR cups were taller than the 2011 ones) -

They probably don't know that they aren't supposed to, or they get tired of arguing with people about it. It really needs to be enforced better, since it is a company policy. -

Because being dishonest is totally okay, right? -

They shouldn't be replacing an old cup with a new one... same with refilling a non-KI cup, the $2.12 is a discount for refilling a KI souvenir cup that you paid $10 for, not for refilling the water bottle you got at Dollar Tree. It's not the "people who take their jobs so darn serious" who don't do it, it's the people who don't think the guests should to be able to get away with whatever they want. (I personally can't believe they replace current year's ones... if I bought a water bottle at Walmart and then dropped and broke it, I certainly wouldn't expect them to give me a new one for free!) Oh, and maybe if you took your job seriously, you would still work there.
