Maybe this year I'll actually go to Soak City.
-
And ask for free stuff. Don't forget that. "My fries were cold! I want free tickets, an apology, and Snoopy to give me a backrub!"

One More Disney Day

Don't get me wrong, I love Carousel of Progress. It just happens to be a nice attraction to catch a nap on. I just wish they'd update the last scene... "You're not going to tell us about the old days when you didn't even have a car phone!" "...not to mention laserdiscs or high-def TV's!" I'm glad to see it's better taken care of than a few years ago, when one could see holes in Father's neck and a massive tube TV in the "future". Also, Laugh Floor is a good idea, but it belongs in Fantasyland, not Tomorrowland. Anyway, I was actually referring to catching a nap while being in a park for 24hrs, not rating the entertainment value of those particular attractions, just pointing out that they're good places to take a break... -

To quote Iago (in the recently deceased Tiki Room Under New Management): "Boy, I'm tired! I think I'll head over to the Hall of Presidents and take a nap." (or Country Bear Jamboree, or Carousel of Progress: Starring Laserdiscs, or Monsters Inc Laugh Floor...) -
Am I the only one who thinks a CMS would be a good idea for the main site? It'd be easier to update without any "hard coding".

I really hope the crosswalk issue is corrected with Soak City- I can't believe that nobody's ever gotten hit at the crosswalk, especially since nobody ever seems to *look* before walking across the road...
-
I only remembered it because, for a few weekends, it was the home of the "FAMOUSE" deep fried potato!
-
Small note- in the theater/Paramount Story picture, it's actually Coney Potato Works now, not Midway.
-
Nope, it's in Clearface Gothic, just like the regular logo, I think.
-
I don't think that electrical access (which is for haunt props, I think?) can be blocked. Anyone know? Also, why can't they just replace the lamps instead of taking them out each time one breaks?
-
Check out the tape/paint on the ground in front of the slide peeling up.
-
I think it might have been removed when the front of Hank's was reconfigured for the show grill? Nevermind, didn't realize it was in back.

There isn't much interesting backstage. The offices are exactly that... offices. With some cool KI stuff, yes, but they're pretty much just offices.

Wasn't the path getting further away a 2011 change?
-
They may be difficult, but they're not rigged. Didn't say "rigged". Being set up to favor the park makes business sense to me. Maybe those big ol' turtles will help bring a coaster in 2013. I believe the smaller prizes cost less than the game does to play, so they make money either way.

Minors don't have to clock out by a specific time on Friday and Saturday, just Sunday (since they have school the next day). That's why there's no Haunt on Sunday and the park closes at 8pm.
-
Don't those cars use gas? I can see why they'd remove them...
-
I suspect there would be more landscaping there if the guests didn't destroy so much of it. I once saw an *entire rose bush* uprooted there...
-
KI was not built with backstage areas in mind for some reason.
-
Am I the only one who vastly prefers the old exit location to the new one, which gives you a nice view of what's obviously a backstage area. Yup, it's time for my "backstage area" rant. How easy would it be for KI to block guest view of that dumpster behind Starbucks that's visible over the fence? Or the blue siding that makes up the backs of the International Street buildings? Or even closing the big gates that seem to be left open for convenience, many of which give great glimpses of how KI handles its trash. It's disappointing that such easy things to fix (ok, maybe not the blue siding) are ignored year after year. And don't get me started on the odors anywhere near the dumpsters...

So, every time I said that Skyline really did have a serving area in back, I was right! I knew it!! Fun fact: If you look in the concrete in front of Skyline, you can see the spots where they filled in the holes left by the wooden fences that separated the lines. Some of the concrete touchups have even come out, so you can see wood through them.
-
Nature trails in secluded woods simply couldn't exist today. Thank the behavior of the park's valued guests for that one. You see what they do in line? Imagine what they'd get into in the woods.

If it were me, I would have just taken a picture of the wall of Congo Fall's station.
