Kings Island 2026 Special Events
CedarPointer replied to Losantiville Mining Co.'s topic in Kings Island
No need to worry, I'm sure those will be a disappointment too. -
At least that part of it makes sense, since they bought the version that was limited. In the past, since they started allowing newly purchased add-ons to be used in the fall, renewing passholders always got whichever was the better of the two they had purchased. And that still seems to be the case, except for the "unlimited" (subject to change, no refunds!) dining plan that more than doubled in price.
-
I appreciate them making it such an easy decision to not renew. I guess I just don't trust buying a $400 dining plan from a company who, in recent memory, has... Sold dining plans advertising them as being valid at 40+ parks after already knowing the parks were being sold off, then only gave $10 in FunBucks (tm) as "compensation" for the devaluing of what you purchased Sold "all parks" add-ons for an additional cost, then upgraded everyone who purchased the "home park only" add-ons to the "all parks" version for free, and didn't compensate those who wasted money on the more expensive versions Turned the mazes into an upcharge when Haunt (which has always been advertised as including mazes!) was advertised as a benefit of passes Started offering free Pre-K passes at parks that didn't previously offer them months after passes went on sale, and refused to refund those who wasted money on buying a pass for their preschooler in the fall Allowed legacy members to pay for their passes over the whole offseason, letting them miss the discounts available in the fall and winter, before springing it on them that their memberships they had been paying for had been significantly downgraded Advertised parking as being included at Canada's Wonderland with other parks' passes as recently as January of this year, then took it away for no particular reason other than they wanted more money Taking away seasonal events that were advertised when passes were sold I'm probably forgetting some things, too. But don't worry, I'm sure this will be the time they don't change the rules on people long after their purchase.

That'll happen when you give away the gate constantly. -

I have a suspicion they're rewiring them or something when the buttons break. Maybe they already ran out of replacements. The flashlights, especially the buttons, seem extremely flimsy for something used by hundreds of guests per day, so it doesn't seem like a surprise that they're not lasting even a year. -
The unlimited option not working at parks outside your region is a pretty big downgrade, especially given the significantly higher cost. Can't wait to see all the food that gets thrown away next year because people didn't know they were out of meals or that the rules changed yet again.
-
I think it's interesting that the unlimited option does not specify that you're limited to 2 meals per visit, which implies it works like an all season version of the (frequently actually abused) All Day Dining. Seems like that'd make it a lot easier for families to just buy 1 and split the meals, especially with the reduced wait between meals, so they'd end up spending less money overall.

It's amazing how many people will enthusiastically make excuses for how anti-consumer Six Flags has become.

I noticed today that all 3 flashlights in the car were permanently turned on and the buttons didn't do anything. Definitely a good change, with how many of the buttons had been broken or difficult to press. -
Season Pass Complexity and Unfairness

And then they have to keep lowering their prices more and more every year to draw in people with low standards, like they did this past year. Doesn't seem like a great business strategy. -
Can't forget that pre-merger Six Flags tried to get rid of the dining plan, because of the news story about one (1) person using it every day at Magic Mountain. It didn't go well for them, and they had to bring it back. If they're concerned about abuse, perhaps they should look into the giving away of used Fast Lane and All Day Dining wristbands that happens daily on Facebook.

Kings Island 2026 Food Reviews and Discussion

I think the problem with food is that they, as a chain, are trying to do two things, which are diametrically opposed: Act like their food is "elevated", "fancy", etc to try to get people to pay out of pocket for it Continue selling hugely underpriced dining plans because (as Disenchanted Parks is finding out) passholders will not pay out of pocket for food after having dining plans for 11 years, and raising the prices will only get the people they actually make money off of to stop buying them The thing is that a lot of the issues with food don't have anything to do with the chef or even really the park, it's corporate budget cuts due to the failure of the merger. Even the worst chef would admit that, say, selling a $20 burger that doesn't come with any toppings is an obvious fail, but the parks do it because it saves a little bit of money.

Didn't they just post a video with their other chef yesterday? 🤔

Is it really that hard to get the name of the park right on the food receipts? -

I like how the solution to the signs on the nearby map still saying Boo Blasters was to remove them, leaving rusty holes where they were originally attached. -

Busy Saturday, and they're only running 3 cars on each of the trains to save on labor. Have a Cedar Flags day! -

Meanwhile, on my ride just now, the first No Legs Larry, Hilda, and the second Maestro at the organ had no sound or movement, and the two unused flashlights in my vehicle managed to score around 300k points (in addition to my 999,999). Still fun, but I feel like that's a lot to not be working on a ride that's only been open for a month and a half. -

I think the issue is two-fold. At the park level, they care, but they aren't given the resources to spend labor on things like cleaning tables, having a greeter at the Eiffel Tower so people don't mash the nonfunctional elevator buttons, etc. At the corporate level, they do not care, because, by the point you're in the park, they already have your money, so who cares if you have a clean place to enjoy your meal. Sad but true. -

Careful, then people would try to relitigate trams being gone for like 20 years now. -

The complete and total refusal to tow illegally, dangerously parked cars in the parking lot amazes me. Other than the people who park in the literal road in the row that only has parking spots on one side, you have the people nearly parking on the sidewalk in preferred, people parking in the new second exit lane from the parking lot, people parking in between cars in handicapped, etc. I know they need some quick cash- I'd certainly pay for footage of people coming back to find their illegally parked cars gone.
