  1. I'm really curious. What are those used for?
  2. Parking garages are too expensive. They are also not needed, at least at KI. Just fix the pot holes.
  3. I don't really see the need for a Ferris wheel, but Coney Mall would be the best area for one.
  4. Roller coasters (Griffon and Alpengeist), thrill rides/flat rides (Catapult... AKA Scrambler), family rides (Le Scoot Log Flume), vending/merchandise (lockers), food services (Cedar Point: Chuck Wagon), guest relations and other. My "other" would be transportation rides (Skyride and Railroad).
  5. It all depends what train you get. From what I have heard, two trains give smooth rides and then there is one that vibrates really badly.
  6. How does that work when they just went public? You think Blackstone is going to sell off their remaining ownership?
  7. I get that, but are they needed? Can you say that your upper body really moves that much during the ride that a vest is needed? I'm not a ride engineer, obviously, but I just don't see the point.
  8. https://suite101.com/a/sight-line-test-balloons-spotted-over-dineys-polynesian-resort-a407463 Basically, it is a balloon that is floated into the air to the approximate height of an upcoming attraction. They are used to see where in the park the new attraction will be seen from.
  9. As Carowinds is investing $50 million, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment is cutting, cutting and cutting. Specifically at BGW. The BGW fan sites are going crazy right now.
  10. I never understood the point of the vests anyways. The lap bar that comes down should be more than enough.
  11. Speaking of that, has Kings Island ever used line of sight balloons? I think those are more common with the Disneys and Universals of the world, but I wonder if KI cares about that.
  12. You could have that with Drop Tower, Power Tower and basically any steel ride. The difference being WindSeeker takes up to three hours to be fully evacuated. Coasters take, what, twenty minutes?
  13. Proof that eventually a ride op* will, in fact, know what ride is coming to the park next year. * (I can't remember what job Kinzel originally had at CP... It was ride operations, right? Or something? Hopefully I was somewhere close, or else the whole joke fails.) I think he sold Cotton Candy, and worked his way up in the culinary department.
  14. As far as I know, they did it in response to the Shoot the Rapids accident. There is nothing wrong with Giraffica, except for it being an awful ride.
  15. ^^ They are probably still waiting for Cedar Point to decide what to do with Shoot the Rapids.
  16. The fun and only! Zach, just tossing slogans out there.
  17. Sandors did for sure. I don't know if Dick did.
  18. Well, it did have a water feature on the heartline roll rock elements. It also disappeared. It was ugly, so it was a good choice. From TPR
  19. Maverick opened with railroad crossing lights, a sound package to sound like a freight train (or stampede), flashing blue lights at the end of the tunnel and thick fog and mist. After a week the mist effects were turned off because they kept setting off the fire alarms. The sound package and lights soon followed.
  20. "Enjoy your ride on Griffon, the tallest and fastest ride in the France area of the park."
  21. Busch Gardens still cuts their grass that way! http://www.wavy.com/news/local/sheep-help-maintain-theme-park-grounds
