Normally you sprint ... I wonder maybe if you were stopped because you've repeatedly ignored them and they recognize you.
-
Why? I just don't get why you would say this.

From the Toledo Blade article: "Mr. Helbig concedes the program's success will depend to a large degree on how patrons waiting in line react. He suggested they might boo the line-cutters. We wonder whether standing in line for long periods in 90-degree heat, only to have a bracelet wearer jump ahead of them, might induce a stronger reaction." So if you are against this, maybe you need to start booing and getting angry in line , although having now been to the park a few times since this was introduced, I can't really say it's impacted me to a degree that is worth complaining about. The only real impact is that when I visit with my family, I can no longer quickly run away and catch a ride on Diamondback via the Single Rider Line (which was not always a guarantee of a faster trip anyway, but was most of the time). If offered at other Cedar Fair parks, I can see myself using.

I don't think that anyone else should buy a pink Snoopy - a 1 in 12000 shot at winning a Mustang is just fine by me Actually, I hope that many more Snoopy's are sold and that plenty of money is raised for this really worthwhile cause. Kudos to the park for participating and supporting efforts like this (along with the others like Coasting for Kids and I'm sure many others that I'm not thinking of right now.)

With the change at Six Flags, I was wondering if the free parking across the chain would continue with Cedar Fair next year. At least as of this time, the WoF website does indicate "(Admission + Parking at all Cedar Fair parks)"

North American TOGO Stand-ups
KIfan1980 replied to dudecoasterman's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Staying off topic for a second. The site referenced below has an interesting assessment of Hawaii (and I'm sure many sites say many different things) "Hawaii is approximately 2,550 miles southwest of Los Angeles, in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean. Politically it is part of North America, but geographically it is not part of any continent." http://www.worldatlas.com/aatlas/infopage/contnent.htm, -
The entire experience of Main Street Electrical Parade, followed by Magic, Memories, and You (castle projection show) and then Wishes (fireworks) remains a lasting memory of my family trip - to the point that we watched again the second afternoon we went to MK (and often watch the poor iPhone video of the fireworks over the castle). As you say - amazing.

Coaster wise - I'll just tell you how much I love Silver Bullet, Montu, and Alpengeist and let that explain it. Flat wise - I'll refer you to the post above mine. Other - I'd love to see a museum type attraction that shows some history of KI and other amusement parks.

Note at BGW, there is an unlimited option, but at least on Alpie and AC, there was a limit of 4 QQ riders per train from my experience.

Cedar Fair v Six Flags or Cedar Fair v The Rest of the US might be fun to see.

Humorous Register article

I'm feeling nostalgic for Terpy -
ACE drama - kind of sad that an organization that has many things good about it and that many on here share a common passion and interest with continues to perpetuate a stereotype by dealing with this publicly. While I often disagree with raptorguy, I can't ever recall him claiming to represent ACE or speak for ACE here on KIC. Remove him if you want, but recognize that your actions did more harm to ACE than Raptorguy's did.

They might still claim longest in terms of ride time - even slow the lift hill down some more if necessary

That is the last week before Mason returns to school on 8/22. Assuming your 5 year old isn't a 48" tall thrill seeker, I'd recommend spending some quality time in Planet Snoopy, but also explore other aspects of the park like the shows and rides like Viking Fury, Monster, Scrambler. Also, take a trip on the Train and go to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Some specific thoughts: - Line for the Helicopters is VERY slow. If you are there early, hit it up first. - Dont get stuck in the front of Planet Snoopy, keep moving to try it all out - If you are staying most of the day, plan a break in the day (Air Conditioned show, long lunch, etc...) - Enjoy Snoopy's Starlight and the Fireworks (it's a late night, but the memories are worth it) Hope you have a great day!

Not a fan of assigned seating on The Beast as I experience a very different ride (some fun, some more painful) depending upon where I sit when riding. I can only assume the goal is to avoid congestion (and the potential for problems that causes) in the station and ensure maximum capacity for the ride. I'd prefer to see them doing this by pulsing people into the row queue areas and not by telling you where to sit. They could even remove one of the switchbacks in the station queues to provide more space if they think that is necessary as there are plenty in the lower queue areas. One question: When assigning, is there still a split for front or back or are they taking everyone through one part of the line?

Snowman - just realize, you weren't the only one who didn't know. You were the only one who asked - and many other old farts also learned something.

So as people think about a rumored BB upgrade, they'll start getting their hopes up for a water coaster, new slide complex, etc... Somewhere in this thread are hints toward a 2nd Wave Pool - be prepared for disappointment. Also, as you look at the map and layout of BB, it is already fairly long, so expansion may be in an unexpected direction - parking lot?

Hmmm - could this be more evidence of a Boomerang Bay expansion for 2012. Maybe they are prepping to do some soil testing.

New at Holiday World for 2012
KIfan1980 replied to Colonel_SoB_fan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
When it comes to anniversaries, you have to think about it from a marketing standpoint. In a year with a new ride, you market the ride. Without a new ride, you market something else like anniversaries. From what I've heard, the wait times on Wildebeest justify adding a second water coaster. I personally think that this will be a good add for the park and that the desired steel coaster will come later. With this level of complaining though, I may have to boycott KIC after the KI announcement (especially if my guess is correct) -
Gary is a very friendly person who I've talked to and ridden with several times. Kudos to him for doing something he enjoys, same to other marathon riders.

Hershey SkyRush New for 2012
KIfan1980 replied to DaveStroem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Looks like a fun ride - yet another reason I need to visit Hershey! -
I am surprised that there have not been police reports of the cars being into. Even when I Googled it, nothing came up- which leads me to believe the stories are fabricated (which we all know never happens on the internet ). I can confirm that the police blotter in the Pulse Journal Mason edition has had several reports of thefts from cars in the KI parking lot - along with reports of thefts from BB (I've quoted those reports a couple of times in the BB thread). Doesn't mean that every story is true however.

What constitutes this "quality parking" you speak of? Parking seems pretty cut and dry to me...just give me a lot to park in which my car won't get hit when people pull out, can be easily navigated, and won't get a flat tire traveling through the lot... Your definition seems to catch what I'd consider minimally acceptable - this should be available at a minimal price. A balance of cost and quality would include a lot that is well maintained, has good signage or people providing directions, and has efficient traffic flow during peak times. For above average, add things like transportation, landscaping, security, etc. And no, I don't pay for parking as I have a pass, but that just goes back to my belief that KI is too cheap when it comes to passes/discounted admissions.

Coasting for Kids 2011 - Worlds of Fun edition
KIfan1980 replied to DaveStroem's topic in Trip Reports
I hope you know someone who can do a quality job framing your certificate Also congratulations on your fundraising and support for a worthy cause, and thanks for sharing your experience in this TR. -
Thanks for sharing the photo's and your experiences of what looked to be a fun event - hope to be a participant myself next year! As for the caption on the picture above - this almost seemed like a challenge to go cross reference this picture with your other picture, and those from other trip reports to identify the "missing man"
