  1. Maybe my memory is fading but I'm assuming that those referencing the first drop mean the main drop after the lift hill. Didnt Sonny have a little bit of a run with a first drop out of the station before the lift hill (heck, some may count the fakey drop off the lift hill as a second and the big drop as the third)
  2. Here is a crazy idea - first thing I'd do is sit down with those that know the park inside and out, listen to their current plans, listen to their ideas, and listen to what they'd change. Following this, I'd do nothing for a while - observe from the inside while working with my leadership team update the plans I know, not sexy, but probably more reality. My focus on where to change things would be around the guest experience: customer-associate interactions, food quality/value, ride wait times/experience, and park cleanliness.
  3. I'd actually say yes - they should. Would I want it, no. Do I think it needs it, no. But in the interest of ensuring that they provide the best experience for guests for a long time, then this should at least be evaluated as an option somewhere along the way.
  4. So true - I've got several Fairly Odd/Woodstock Express on ride photos and pictures as memories of those times - although the joy continues as said riding partners obtain 48" and finally 54" status.
  5. AKA Manhurtin' Express... You guys are talking boring rides in Vegas and chose this over High Roller? While I would agree that coaster is painful, High Roller was just such a let down as a ride. Great concept (coaster on top of 1000' tower), Great opportunity (unbeleivable views), poor execution (less exciting than most kiddie coasters - Great Pumpkin style).
  6. Something interesting - when Larralu typed smart--- it spelled it out - When quoted by Diamondbacker it was censored with the *** Seems a little unusual to me
  7. There are videos and threads that you can search for that will show trims on the first drop and second hill of Beast since the ride opened. What's changed most recently is the style - moving from skid trim (which is less forceful over the short run but typically longer) to magnetic trim which can feel like sudden deceleration at times. These changes are advertised as not having made a difference in speed on The Beast - although there are those who might disagree with that assertion.
  8. Having been on a few Mothers and Fathers Days, with the $9.99 deal, they typically haven't been that bad line wise.
  9. For what it's worth, I've seen Greg out and about in the park on many occasions in the past. Most of the time he is with a group of 3-4 suits, but he has also been very personable and taken the time to interact with guests when approached. Don is also in the park frequently, although I don't know that I've ever seen he and Greg wandering together.
  10. That sure is a long time to wait for a new attraction Oops - thanks, fixed.
  11. And being a PR guy, he may be walking the fine official line right now. I personally believe that decision is made, has now been reviewed and agreed to with the new guy, but is just not ready for announcement yet - which leads me to beleive SBNO for 2012, construction area in 2013, new ride/attraction and update to AZ in 2014. There are all kinds of reasons that a business would not want to announce plans too soon.
  12. I have to admit that I'm surprised that the 2012 season has kicked off and there Is no announcement or indication of activity on the SoB site. Personally, I beleive a decision has been made (and agreed to now by the new boss), but the park is not ready to share this news yet. I don't know what this means, but I'm thinking replacement attractions in Action Zone in 2014 earliest. Just my opinion.
  13. Since so many happy posters are also commenting on the actions of employees, it would be interesting to know if there was a significant difference to the training, approach, expectations, this year
  14. Looks like it could be an interesting watch, but I'm holding off (for now at least). The idea of encouraging this kind of action seems wrong.
  15. I could definitely see a meal plan option available at KI. It seems obvious that this is an area of in park spending that is being targetted for improvement with the moves going on corporately at CF and locally at KI where food is concerned. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out over the summer as the park is upping its game, but at the same time, there are also many new options that have opened up very close by within the last year or so: - Blue Ash Chili, Donato's, Penn Station on Western Row - Chipotle, Jimmy Johns on Kings Island Drive - Remodeled McDonanalds on 741 There is also a Panda Express and Jack in the Box going in on Tylersville Road near I-75 that is only ~10 minutes from the park For me, I don't know that I'd use a meal plan, but improved quality food and better allergen options (Gluten Free Pizza is a big step) will help my family enjoy the park more.
  16. To me it's even more painful if you try and put your hands up
  17. Today's newsletter says all parking spaces are available first come first served this year.
  18. Tacos is already fixed - who says we don't help the park
  19. I love aerial photos - and these are wonderful. The BB one really shows the width of the wave pool (compare to others like at the beach and you see the magnitude of it), and it's not often you see an entire Beast layout in one picture! Thanks for sharing, and I'll express my interest in seeing every last picture from the flight.
  20. As a parent of a child who must eat Gluten Free (among other food allergies), this is much appreciated news. As I've stated elsewhere, I hope there is an improvement in overall availability of allergen information, but I welcome the changes that have been announced. Thanks in advance KI for improving the park experience of at least one 8 year old and family - somehow I imagine our in park spending will rise this season.
  21. If its just me (or me and the non food allergy son), I like LaRosas - either watching the splashdown or enjoying the I-street experience. With the food allergy son - based on the lack of good allergen info we typically only eat blue ice cream. I remain hopeful (with all the tweets about foods) that updated allergen info will be available this year. Maybe this is another area that Mr Quimet can copy the Disney experience - but at a minimum, I'd like to see KI upgrade to the experience I've had at many parks where the info is at least available.
  22. What makes you say this land belongs to the beach? A quick search of Warren County Property Records indicates the 44.8 acre vacant parcel directly adjactent to the Beach is owned by 'Kings Mills Farms' not 'The Beach at Mason' which owns the Beach parcel. Not saying it doesn't go back to the same people, but I'd have assumed different ownership.
  23. Same here, I could hear at least 5 groups of people from states all over, some at least 10 hours from here, asking why the ride they came for was closed. Makes you wonder what research they did before coming to the park - if this was 1983, I could understand someone taking a Vacation only to find their Favorite Family Fun Park closed, but in 2011/12 - little things like the internet make it so much easier to find out what's open/closed before travelling.
  24. Maybe I just don't pay attention, but there really aren't that many songs I relate to Kings Island. I know music is always playing, but the only place I ever listen/hear it to remember is on the train. I can't help but assume that for Gator, this song/movie soundtrack reminds him of The Beach more than KI
  25. When the policy is not to enforce the return time, why is it abusing the system if you use it post the return time? I did so and have no problem having done so - I also have no problem with them changing the policy, that is their choice.
