I have no personal knowledge with regard to Racer, but paints of the past in some cases contained toxic materials that today are not allowed to be used. Such paint might lead to expensive remediation if it exists on a ride being repainted.

It has been posted by others, whom I'd trust, that painting Racer might Lead down a path the park is reluctant to take

GREAT AMERICA STADIUM DEAL!

Everybody loves a winner! Linking to another thread, I'll be the one pushing for a construction tour as this gets built. -
knotts windseeker
KIfan1980 replied to DBInternational's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Aside from what I have quoted you on being completely false, please tell me that Sky Cabin having a giant "K" on it is not how you came to this gem of a conclusion. I believe that the original plan (I don't know if it was a confirmed plan or an assumed plan) for WindSeeker was for it to go in the location of and replace Sky Cabin, with a giant "K" being used on top of WindSeeker to link the past with present. Plans changed and WindSeeker ended up elsewhere and Sky Cabin remains. -
Thanks for posting some excellent pictures!

Cedar Fair Is Not Disney--Motley Fool
KIfan1980 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Got to disagree here. My kids have both grown through the 48" requirement in recent years and never had a problem with not having rides to enjoy. What I believe KI is missing is more rides that the family can enjoy together. There are precious few options for a parent or grandparent, who doesn't want to ride a coaster or spin, to enjoy with the younguns. -
Track Spotted

Let's argue over footers over footings again too. This isn't just a local message board, you came off sounding like a jerk as usual. Batavia is in GREATER Cincinnati. "as usual" seems to indicate you have a predefined opinion of CoastersRZ posts. Others may have just thought that he is supplying additional info that can help people expand their knowledge. And he started by saying, "technically" which indicates he knows he is being detailed. -
Bayern Kurve is the ride I most associate with going to KI with my parents as a kid - great memories! The Olympic rings did tie into the bobsled theme as each "car" was a sled from a different country - as a kid, I was always trying to t into one of the good winter Olympic country sleds (not USA like most people).

It also suffered as being one of the last "old style" cinemas to be constructed before the newer "stadium style" became the standard. The article also mentions projection technology as a barrier to upgrades, but I can't say as I'm enough of a videophile to have noticed that.

Gator - that 48" height is magical at KI. I hope GatorGirl enjoys the new rides as much as Kyle did (late 2009) and Neil did (mid last summer). Your KI experience has changed - remember to include rides like Zephyr on your itinerary also, and be prepared for the "I want to ride by myself" big girl attitude! This summer, I resolve to enjoy a new season with my boys after last was cut short surprisingly. I look forward to more 54" rides with Kyle (he only has the DB credit) and seeing Neil expand his confidence on the 48" rides (BLSC and AE aren't favorites yet and he has yet to conquer Drop Tower).

Thanks for bringing this topic back for 2012! Of course, I wanted to see a Standbyme 2011 comparison and Hendrick fade after your 1987 Vortex shot . Things I noticed: Miss the 'Tiques. Nice to see how the trees around Shake, Rattle, & Roll have grown up. Wow has that end of Coney Mall Changed.

Ouimet wants to bring in more families
KIfan1980 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That was an encouraging article - just imagine, KI with more rides a family can enjoy and maybe even a campground -
In my opinion, a corporation must Balance the needs of the shareholders and it's customers - it can't be either one above all else if it wants long term success. And while corporate greed is part of the problems in this country - I'll refrain from commenting further to avoid the restrictions on political discussions. As for a decision - Leaders may not like the decisions they have to make, but good leaders will take the best available data and advice from trusted coworkers and make a decision. You can't avoid them.

No advice on Universal, but wanted to say I'm sorry to hear the news of the divorce - and will give you some advice on that. Please ensure you find someone - counselor, mentor, teacher, priest, etc.. that you can talk to about what is going on. It's going to be a major change for you and emotional so having someone outside the situation focused on supporting you will be valuable. Good luck!

JD - I have to admit that today's set left me disappointed with the 2011 picture - how could you miss the fact that you have the wrong train in the photo? Definitely choosing 1974 as I think the train ride itself would have been much more special then and I like the fact that it is open for people to see versus hidden by all the tables/umbrella's, etc...

I think many people (including potentially our moderators), think of the forums as the site. Prior to and when I joined, I spent much time on the site (and still reference it at times, but much less as it hasn't been updated since 2008) as well as the forums. I'd love to see it get some love, but maybe the traffic just doesn't justify it. That said, it would be interesting to know: If a member wrote a "KI History - Timeline update" (in the style of the original) for 2009, 2010, 2011 and sent it in, would it be uploaded? If Standbyme and Hendrick sent the 1974-2011 photo's and fades in, would they be uploaded to the "Park History - Photographs" section. Heck there are many other photographers that could easily "own" this section as well - and maybe merge the Photo Gallery and Park History Photo's section to avoid confusion. I believe offers have been made in the past - I'm assuming that they haven't been received in a positive fashion.

Does that website tease a new logo for Kings Island? It looks like there is different font, a star, and a color change on the flag from what is on the KI website.

Busch Gardens Tampa/Florida Trip plans for 2012
KIfan1980 replied to McSalsa's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I visited Busch Tampa in the Feb timeframe a couple of years ago. Park was not crowded at all and I got many rides and was able to eat well and see many animals also. I wouldn't think FP are necessary. Also, I'll say it before Avatar does. Don't assume that Disney is too expensive - he has shown many times that staying at a value resort (Pop) buying a multi-day ticket, and getting the free dining plan deal can make it quite affordable. Your interests should also drive where you go - are you looking for thrill rides only, an experience, Potter, a mix of animals, rides, theme. -
I doubt anyone can tell you exactly what led to SoB being closed. The park GM once stated he was not happy with the ride experience. Beyond that, one must look at the totality of the ride history for reasons including: - The accident in 2006 that led to many lawsuits, settlements, and in one case a judgement against CF - Multiple incidents of ride complaints including the most recent head injury claim from 2009 Edit - I should have assumed terpy was also typing a response.

Thanks for sharing - I was unfortunately unable to attend, despite living 10 min away but am glad you took photos and shared your experience.

Sad I was unable to make this event due to my medical issues as it sounds like y'all had a great time. It was great to see you, Sparky, and Avatar however, and I appreciate you taking so many wonderful pictures for those of us who weren't there!

So glad you linked to this thread as I think somehow I missed it on its first incarnation - but I have to share some bad news with you as you seem to have lost a year By my calculations since it was "Posted 26 December 2009 - 03:44 PM" that makes it almost 2 years old Edit - and one other thing, I got super excited and clicked over to look at a picture when I saw that you'd posted in this thread. Unfortunately I forgot it was Saturday

Have to go with 1974 - and kids still love slides (I was sad that the one at Legoland CA was only for kids)

From the same blog post comes this: I think there is a thread (or ten) around here about that, although I have to admit, I'd be hard pressed to pick just one FYI, here is the answer in the more recent blog update.
