  1. Is this really that weird of an idea - anyone know the details of all the licensing agreements for the Intimidator roller coasters at Carrowinds and Kings Dominion? And I know that Terpy (or someone else) will answer this question "Yes, someone knows" and that it is unlikely that the general public will ever be privy to those details. I'm only trying to show that current events indicate a move in a more commercial direction with rides at CF this year.
  2. After scrolling through the entire slideshow, I am again amazed at the power of rain/water. Unfortunately, I'm sure that the pictures don't really show the devastation that this kind of event can cause and the impact that this can have on people and a community. Wow.
  3. I laughed so hard when I saw the pictures on FB earlier and was imagining the "captions" that went along with them so really appreciate you sharing the story with us. While not a huge ride count day, it sounds like you had a good time and have generated some memories as well. In addition, you got to ride Chang on its final day at SFKK, got a Zen ride, and also got to ride one of your favorites in a washout downpour! What more could you really ask for? BTW, I hope Tom at least offered to help with some of the driving - on a day like that it gets very stressful and tiring. Glad you made it home safe!
  4. Random question - is the Blue train, train 1 or 2? Based on that photo the answer is....Yes! That would be a picture of Car 1 on Train 2. who has a picture of the front of the red train? If Ty had every weathervane in the park ...
  5. ^wouldn't want facts to get in the way of your rant, but would appreciate some citations. - I don't think Mason has one of the higher city tax rates in the state - I don't think Mason owns the tennis stadium disclaimer - yes I live in Mason, no I don't think there should be an admissions tax at KI, no, I don't think the city spends all it's $ wisely, yes I understand the article was talking about Sandusky
  6. Random question - is the Blue train, train 1 or 2?
  7. If I understand correctly, ride ops are assigned to more than one ride. What is the log flume paired with?
  8. Beast early morning rides are just ok to me - later in the day and especially night rides are still something special. Try and ride it without focusing on the trims (I know its hard to do since it's talked about on KIC so much) - you may actually enjoy it more. Note that this is not to imply that I wouldn't like to ride Beast w/o the trims one time, but since I have no control over that, I still plan to enjoy it.
  9. Yes, there were lots of people there today at P&G day and no, none of them saw anything going on with SoB today. But, I did take a couple of looks at SoB today (once from the Eiffel Tower and once from the Flight Deck exit) to see if I noticed anything that could be considered evidence to support Dvo's post. I can't swear to it, but I believe I saw water dummies sitting in or near the Red train - iPhone camera not good enough to document though.
  10. I'd also like to point out that this is just a rumor without any evidence to support it. This is not to say that Dvo is intentionally misleading us - I don't know Dvo and to date have no reason to doubt his credibility, but I do have a brother and he's been known to pull a prank on me before.
  11. Nick characters, heavily themed, on the edge of Nick U - hmmm, I wonder why people associate it with the kids area, could it be because it is part of the kids area. Also note the following quote from the KICentral timeline http://www.KICentral.com/history/timeline.php 2001: King’s Mill Log Flume, renovated and renamed as The Wild Thornberry’s, reopens as part of the new Nick Central area. Of course Scooby is part of I-Street, so you can't always let geographic location enter into the equation
  12. Agreed, but for the record, nobody from Kings Island actually announced that Planet Snoopy was coming to Kings Island - unlike the other parks getting the PEANUTS gang for 2010, the official announcement for KI was made as part of a Cedar Fair press release if my memory is correct.
  13. Upgrade to an iPhone and you shouldn't have any problems Seriously, the first question I'd ask is was the error a KIC error message or a provider network/Blackberry error message? If network/BB, try clearing you cache as this will sometimes cause me problems with the work BB.
  14. Like Terpy, I don't know for sure, but based upon some best estimating analysis, I think that it is Racer. These laps would have been mostly on the current Red/former Backwards side. Trying to figure out where my ~130 Diamondback count fits (this is the first time I've counted laps and spent a lot of time focused on one coaster in a season). I believe it is well behind The Beast, but somewhere close to Beastie/FOC, Vortex, and King Cobra.
  15. The thing I found surprising on that website was the prices for a season pass. Considering the prices for a Season Pass for 2010 (Ten Years later) is currently listed as: - Adult Regular $79.99, Gold $89.99 - Jr Regular $64.99, Gold $69.99 - Cut/Paste from archive website link in first post - Individual Adult Pass (ages 7-59) $84.99 Individual Child/Senior Pass (ages 3-6, 60+ or 48" and under) $57.99
  16. I am not aware of a better resource and often use RCDB myself. I've just learned over time to cross reference things, especially when things don't seem right based upon my knowledge or experience. Typically somewhere between RCDB, park websites, and POV videos, the right information can be found. Although the park websites have also been known to be in error (for example, earlier this season the SoB page on the KI website still referenced 36 passenger trains - which was changed shortly after it was mentioned on a KIC forum) To note, I'll freely admit to being a "fact geek" about some items on roller coaster (specifically capacities) and have been known to use a stopwatch or other timing devices (there is a big second hand on the floral clock at KI visible from the top of the Eiffel Tower) to check data.
  17. FYI- Beast is 7359' long with a duration of 4:10. SoB is 7032' long with a duration of 2:20. I assume you got these stats of rcdb.com, but will warn you that this website is not always 100% accurate (and it is very hard to be/stay accurate on things like ride times). As an FYI, if you search youtube and watch a POV of SoB, you'll quickly learn that it is longer than 2:20. Also on Beast, while I'm sure at one point it was a 4:10 second ride, this is no longer the case as the first lift hill is significantly slower than it used to be as I believe the blocking scheme now requires the train ahead to be clear of the second lift hill before the following train leaves the first lift hill.
  18. Standbyme about covered my response to question 1&2. Offseason meet up could be fun.
  19. All I can say is Yay for the group name "Banned" that now shows up next to him/her/it's posts. I'd noticed the forums a lot less argumentative the past week.
  20. I have been told that a 2009 Jr moving to an 2010 Adult can obtain the renewal price.
  21. Kenton Cove Keelboat Canal was the other flume ride.
  22. Thanks for sharing this trip report - sounds like I need to add SFOG to my "parks to visit list" especially with a Stand Up, Invert, Flyer, and Hyper B&M to try. Unfortunately the visit list is getting kind of long at the moment, but I know I'll be able to start knocking them off as my boys get older and I get to take a trip with them like this was for you and your Dad. Sounds like you had a great time and only the game was a little disapointing!
  23. ok - which one of you is TheGoldenHour on youtube? ---cut/paste from the comments section of the youtube link above posted by TheGoldenHour--- this is music played on The Beast roller coaster lift hill!
  24. I'm one of those people who like SoB and Mean Streak (although I haven't been to CP in years), but would rank a couple of rides that many other love closer to the bottom of my list - Gemini and AE (especially when you follow Jacksons advice and try and turn around and look behind you - ouch!).
  25. Not a specific response to Justin or Markr (its just that your posts made me think about it). I find it interesting and amusing to see what people of different generations define as a big, major, adult coasters versus junior, kiddie, family coasters. There is also a coaster battle that references Flight Deck and Racer as "family thrill coasters". I guess its the difference between growing up today and growing up when Racer was one of the two major coasters at KI and when big new coasters like King Cobra and Top Gun were introduced. More data to prove I'm old.
