Timberliner trains were supposed to running on The Voyage in 2011. The way I understand, Holiday World wanted to wait to see how the coaster trains were going to operate for an entire year on another coaster. Does Holiday world plan to run the new Timberliner on The Voyage in 2012? I haven't heard yet, anyone know?

Take notes, OK. It was not meant to do numerous flips and does not like fog and water. So, what was it meant to do? Maybe a building for a new restaurant. The ride was reduced in size,(row of seats removed) I think, maybe this ride never lived up to expectations? Who knows??

Dollywood's Wild Eagle nears completion
thunderbeast1968 replied to 06jds377's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That sure was fast. There was no time wasted in this project. I cannot wait to visit Dollywood for the first time. -
This will be my last post on the Crypt. I would ride KD's version over the "slow loading" boring ride that occupies space at Kings Island.
-
Capacity? Well, the line for The Crypt at Kings Dominion did not have much of a line, the few times that I visited. So, I do not see a reason to build a larger (not as thrilling) TopSpin. for capacity reasons. That being said, the few times I visited, we basically walked onto The Crypt at Kings Dominion. I visited the second week of June on a weekday.

So, KI's is also a Huss TopSpin? KD's a Huss model also?? If so, why would they build one "Giant" and not be able to do as much maneuvers as the regular TopSpin? I am not sure why this would even be attempted? I am not trying to argue or disagree, just curious. I am to assume it was and is a prototype, that was not repeated again.
-
Why wouldn't it handle the outside elements? Kings Dominion has a Giant TopSpin outdoors. How would it differ? I would love to see The Crypt reprogrammed and themed just like the one at KD. I rode it several time and really enjoyed it.

I rode The Beast at night several years ago. It was the last 2-3 trains of the evening and it was in the upper 80s all day. It rained for 15 min right before we rode. The fog was so thick, you could not see 5ft in front of you. It was a front seat ride, which is ALWAYS my last ride of the day. Best ride ever..

Old Kings Island and Cedar Point Photos
thunderbeast1968 replied to flightoffear1996's topic in Kings Island
Thank you for the photo memories. With all the other Coaster/amusement park fans, We will keep you in our prayers for the loss of your father. There is nothing more important than family. -
I know this is a little off topic, but the other day, I was arguing with a friend. He says "The Beast trains were always solid red in color". I remember them being red, but I seem to recall them red and fading to a green/yellow?? I can't remember, and anyone (Interpreter) could find a link? Was this color scheme feature just with the 4-bench coaster car design?

I love wooden coasters and I expect them to be a little "bone jarring" The Beast is a rough coaster, but I do not personally think that it is so rough that it is not enjoyable. I quoted earlier about a rough coaster. Hurler at Kings Dominion is rough to me. Anyone else?
-
How about Hurler at Kings Dominion? OUCH!!
-
I overheard a guy say, and I quote "They used to run the train backwards on The Beast" Dippin' Dots guy??

I think that Kings Island needed an improvement on the water park side. That said, I do not live in the surrounding area and do not go to the water park. I did not go to Boomerang Bay at all. When I visit the park, it is to ride thrill rides/coasters. When I do attend parks, the trip is usually 1 to 2 days and the overcrowding at the slides is no fun at all. I hope this expansion helps in this area. The last water park I was at was the Geauga Lake water park(While it was still was an amusement park) The lines sucked and it took all the fun out of trying to cool off. GL did not have enough to do to keep me interested, so I hope Kings Island's expansion will help. I might give it another try, who knows???

How i got started riding roller coasters. Trip report/blog.
thunderbeast1968 replied to Dalefan's topic in Trip Reports
My first coaster was the Big Dipper at Camden Park(WV) Then we started going to Kings Island the first few years of operation. My Mom (Thanks) paid me to get on The Racers. I was very young and wanted a toy or something, in one of the shops. The Beast is still my favorite "wooden" coaster. I remember, when it first opened, there was no tunnel on the helix "Grand Finale" If I remember correctly the cars were not completely red, I remember them kinda fading red colors to a orange (or greenish) can't quite recall. If someone has a picture of the first trains for The Beast, I would love to know where to find it. Please post!! -
I had a similar experience with Dominator when it was located at Geauga Lake, I had noticed a little rattle (back of train) then the following year, it was smooth as glass. I mentioned it to a ride operator, he said. "The wheels were just changed out a few days ago". So, depending on wheel condition, I think this could be a factor.

Camden Park: Spider Collapses
thunderbeast1968 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The newspaper states that the arm broke free, and it also states the no one was in the cabin of the ride? So, what gives who exactly got hurt? -
Camden Park: Spider Collapses
thunderbeast1968 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Terpy, we have talked before. I live in Proctorville, OH(Just minutes from Camden Park) I hope there were not any significant injuries. I remember when the "Hurricane" flat ride collapsed at Camden, years ago, if I recall it was a hydraulic failure. Do you think this could be the same. It has been a while, so I don't recall just how the ride works. Another thought would be something broke on one of the "Spider" arms, causing it to collapse. I know it's too early to tell, just a thought. -
Thank you for posting, I really enjoyed the pictures. That said, I really miss those days of yesteryear, but I do enjoy the way the park has progressed. Nowadays, I get to bring my boy to the park, and see the excitement on his face. When I was his age, my family would arrive to the park, and we started a tradition of eating LaRosa's Pizza. My favorite still, and a tradition I try to keep up. The Racer was my first major coaster that I ever rode. Still one of my favorite coasters. Flat rides, I wish Kings Island would take Coney Mall, and bring back some classic "flat rides" The Rotor, Bayern Curve, Flying Eagles(not sure of exact ride name, sorry) to name a few. I know these rides are old and hard to find, let alone, hard to maintain. I was at Kennywood, several years ago and rode Bayern Curve, it was opening weekend, we rode it first. The ride operator left us on for two complete ride cycles. I thought the ride will never end, of course we had fun.

What a terrible story. My prayers go out to the family. My question, How was he allowed on the ride in the first place? Since I did not know how far up the leg was amputated, the restraints must have not worked properly.(I know, DUH) I would think there would be rules in place to keep this from happening.
