  1. I don't think with keeping the current trains (from Top Gun to Flight Deck to now The Bat) that is an option. They'd have to re-do the fiberglass to even attach The Bat heads. The cars may be a little bit closer together than the original The Bat trains too, as they were a prototype, so having a bat head per each car to me, wouldn't be possible. Not trying to shoot your idea or thoughts down, as I'd like to see it too, but it doesn't look to be possible.
  2. The heads from the trains may have been auctioned off, I remember reading something about that of some sort (or it could have been the castings), but that doesn't mean the trains were auctioned.
  3. One ride is a two-person zipline featuring a 600-foot drop over the wave pool. Well, that's safe! What is that number supposed to be? I like the additions. Not much detail, but I'll just have to wait and see. I haven't been to The Beach since 2011, but I could possibly go this summer. As malem stated, it's more than likely the length of the zip line. I've ziplined over water before in Michigan, it ended with the rider skidding into the water, about 40 feet away from the shore line, had to swim back (it was fun but tiring), so doing this over a wave pool will be a cool view!
  4. You failed to look over the "steel coasters SHOULD NOT begin operations UNDER a certain temperature, but they are able to continue operation if the temperature dips below that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Sorry for bringing this back from a page ago, but Terp you are correct.
  6. Typically the low points with the gravel are for maintenance, to check the track, electrical components are sometimes near-by, etc. The gravel? Most likely it's to make sure that those who enter that point while the coaster is NOT in operation are able to have traction, because lets face it, it gets wet at some point during the season and maintenance men do not want to lose a boot or face plant into the mud.
  7. ^^ that is easily the most entertaining and creepy post! Lol. I was quite confused when reading it at first! Thanks for the smile! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. As for the way Kings Island does it, as I worked Diamondback and often was at co-dispatch (that green button near row 16), we were trained to not hit that button until the driver (yes Driver beep beep!!) gave the all clear. I'm pretty sure the button being pressed down on (HTCO can clear this up for me as he worked at Diamondback more recent than I have) doesn't let the panel know the button is pressed. The driver's dispatch buttons and the co-dispatch has to be pressed at the same time or within 3-5 seconds (can't remember) in order to dispatch the train or the ride would set up. It didn't work as the "thumbs up" for the clear....we had to get the clear from the station floor, give the high clear and announce clear so the driver (yes, beep beep ) would know we were ready to dispatch to give the all clear.
  9. Very sad! It looks like it will be sold by auction in September...wondering if it'll operate this summer? I hope so, I'd like to visit it with Gator and the Gator family if we can before it closes!
  10. Do you have a picture of it that you can share? Sorry for doubting the eBay posting, just seems like it was too good to be true, but I still think $50 for a shirt is insane. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. That's not worth the $50. It looks like someone created a screen print to piece the Banshee logo and the Cedar Point logo together. I'd say it's not authentic, from what I remember around the time Banshee at Cedar Point was announced the logo was the green similar style to the current logo. The current logo (blue) got started I believe around 2007. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. The answers have been laid out for you. That is not enough for you as you have said, you wouldn't consider them good enough, please contact Dane to answer your questions. If his answers aren't good enough, contact Cedar Fair. There isn't any more knowledge that we can send your way on the topic further than we have. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Really, it doesn't matter why. As the owner of the intellectual property in question, Cedar Fair has the right to impose conditions on its usage. They've been generous enough to allow us to use their intellectual property with very few restrictions. For those still curious as to why Cedar Fair might care, read the past several pages of this topic. Many members, most notably Terp, have given numerous very good reasons. Cedar Fair has a legal obligation to its unitholders to preserve the value of its intellectual property. With trademarks, this value includes both exclusive use and goodwill. The company must ensure that entities allowed to use their intellectual property - including KICentral - are not hurting its brand(s) or contributing to the genericization of its trademark(s). To you it might not matter why, but some of us are curious. People have given reasons, none of which I would consider to be "good" reasons for this specific issue being discussed. Your last paragraph, I get all that. Makes a ton of sense to me. But for them to care about a capitalization error here or there on an internet message board just seems excessive to me. If there was rampant misuse of their trademarks on here, I would understand. But the ocassional non-capitalization of rides? Come on. It's all a moot point anyway since it appears that it is now impossible to not capitalize ride names on here, which is a smart move by KIC. But it's a message board. I'm here for discussion. My biggest problem is with the people that say "just do it, it doesn't matter why." Why can't we just talk about it? I will leave you with this: Terms of Service. If that doesn't satisfy your quest for why, please contact Dane or any other site admin. I get that you're inquisitive, I am too....but it's at the point now, we need to move on. Dane and his team have updated the TOS to reflect the stance on the issue. It has been explained why many times but the answer isn't good enough for some people. As a user of this free "anonymous" message board, you agree to the TOS. If you do not follow them, you are at risk for suspension/termination of your account, etc by Dane and his team. To quote the TOS on trademarks, etc, everyone here has agreed to them by signing up for an account and/or continuing to use their account: If there are any questions from this point, they should be directed to Dane and his staff. Back to Banshee construction progress, we've seen one picture of the ride envelope on the track, do you think there will be any more of that happening? Will we see a pull through? I know we've recently not seen a lot via B&M on the subject of pull-throughs, but was just wondering.
  14. A 90 year old rode, Diamondback in 2012 I'm not sure if she rode last year or not!
  15. As for the next challenge, I believe Ouimet was speaking about what we know now as Banshee.
  16. I think we're jumping to conclusions way to quickly. Not every detail is out yet about Media Day as well as Opening Day. While it's one thing to speculate, to speak as a matter of fact on a detail (First Rider T-Shirts) that hasn't really even been announced yet is a little silly. Per First Giving: Bolded and Underlined for emphasis.
  17. What you see as a non-obstruction, the local fire marshal may see as an obstruction. I hate to be this blunt about this, but guests will either buy a locker, leave their stuff in the car, risk losing their items by putting them in a "hidden" spot or they don't take their items with them. If you have a medical condition that requires you to carry items with you in the lines and into the stations, please proceed to Guest Relations before entering the park to have a medical documentation for your required items in the line.
  18. The more and more I see updates on Banshee's progress whether it be installing the chain, work on the station, etc. I can't wait for my first ride! The ride looks great! I'd love to see the installation of the controls and the PLC!
  19. Wasn't sure where to put this..... So I'll spin it to fulfill the thread idea. I would love for something like this would come back to KI, but a much updated version.....I found this on Facebook and figured I'd share. From KD Golden Years Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=360370077437083&set=a.232180120256080.1073741829.229513350522757&type=1
  20. That'd be a waste of the new person in position with Cedar Fair that is in charge of the in-house TV programming. I believe queue tv was removed in the early 2000s. If it was under Cedar Fair's management.....it would have been under Dick Kinzel. There's a new man in charge. You can't judge the future of Kings Island and the rest of Cedar Fair by the past CEO/President.
  21. That'd be a question for the park. You need to call them. 1513-754-5700 Are you sure you quit paying because they should have automatically taken it out of the card you used to sign up. If you did quit paying and they didn't take the money out, then you probably will need to pay what you haven't last year to renew for this year plus all the applicable fees. If you were to renew this year, please make your payment in full and don't take the offers for granted as they may not be there always and could stop due to abuse.
  22. No major changes to the station will happen, per Don Helbig. The cars are going to be what you have seen on Top Gun/Flight Deck previously. The difference will be the color scheme, with black cars and possibly a little bit of orange.
  23. I honestly want to see a POV from the park on this slide. I'd never ride it, so virtually would be okay! One thing about the stairs, it doesn't look like you'd have to carry your tube up them with the belt on the side.
  24. While this isn't a PKI Pass, it's a Kings Island Fun Pass....it was good for Kings Island, Kings Dominion and Carowinds. Were Carowinds, KI and KD owned by the same people at that point? http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-1970s-EARLY-1980s-KINGS-ISLAND-FUN-CLUB-CARD-/111262560001?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19e7c3ef01
