What's up with Kings Dominion?
Creed Bratton replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I feel as if Cedar Fair really struggles with this park...in part of being out of touch in the early days of ownership and the local enthusiast group. As far as out of touch in the early days of ownership, they installed I-305...which I think is where the park started to go wrong. While the general coaster enthusiast community love the coaster, it was too intense for the general public. It didn't bring in as many guests as it hoped, not to mention the ride had to be re-profiled as well. Had they installed a different model coaster, whether B&M or Intamin, they could have benefited from a less intense, people eating coaster such as a hyper coaster. As far as the local enthusiast group, which I can kind of understand, they publicly dog the park on Social Media about everything....when they announced Shockwave was leaving, the enthusiasts complained about how the park never invests, then Delirium was announced and the enthusiasts complained that it wasn't a new coaster.....then they announced Hurler was closing....the enthusiasts complained about another losing another coaster....when Twisted Timbers was announced the enthusiasts complained because it wasn't as big as they wanted....etc. I understand that when they have announced 2 coasters closing (now 3) how disappointing it can be, but it also seems as no matter what the park does, the local enthusiasts are never satisfied. It's like KD and Cedar Fair cannot win with whatever decision they make (whether it's viewed as good or bad). I hope with Volcano leaving as sad as I am, they can be redeemed...especially hoping they announce a new coaster that is a people eater and highly rated. -
Change, you can expect change

I honestly agree! As much as I love the trees for shade, I can see them being gone this year. If they are gone this year, I do hope that they have more tables with umbrella's...those are easier to see around vs trees.

I don't really remember all of the details, but I had a dream last night where I walked into the park opening day, to find a big wooden box labeled "Mack" on it....there was a sign near it that encouraged park go-ers to open this "viewing window." So I did, and when I looked in, I saw coaster trains like Time Traveler at SDC. That's all I remember though.

Switch those two coasters for me, including the garbage can operation! lol -
I enjoyed Plants Vs Zombies, maybe because each time I did it, I won on my side :). It definitely isn't amazing, but it's not too bad. I can't remember, but that'd be a good question this year if they do a Q&A.

From me, probably a good 200 times or so! LOL! Not really that many but a handful of times

No....Zamperla Flyer....Flight Deck is their SLC. -
Fun story....Don doesn't control what comes and goes from the park...nor does he plan such things...so you're barking up the wrong tree.

Is X3 a newer coaster? -
I usually ask for the front seat/row of WindSeeker. It's the best!

Under Ouimet's reign, the chain had 4 dark rides(?) added? Wonder Mountain's Guardian Voyage to the Iron Reef Plants Vs. Zombies (loose definition of dark ride) Overwatch? (I can't remember what park, but in their action theater...loose definition of dark ride)

Mine would either have to be Vortex at Carowinds, Mind Eraser at Six Flags New England or Flight Deck at Canada's Wonderland. Honorable mention: Super Flight at Playland Park, Time Warp at Canada's Wonderland and Soarin' Eagle at Luna Park. -

Good find. I'm pretty sure one of the names that didn't win was "The Tony Clark Experience." -
I didn't know you worked at the Dayton location! That's awesome! I've not heard a specific date being thrown around....but have just heard "early 2019" and "the beginning of 2019." @pianoman and I recently stopped by the location and couldn't tell of anything going on (the windows/doors from the outside had block out graphics on and the inside portion of the mall also had blocked off access/viewing).
