Oh I didnt mean to point you out. I find cloning very interesting, so thats why I asked the question of how they did it. http://www.popsci.com/scitech/article/2006-08/cloned-beef-its-whats-dinner I think I found your article. Way cool. Slightly different from what you said but great memory for over a year. So it seems (at least to this article) that if you find a perfect steak you can basically send it out to be cloned into a whole cow then you would be able to have that perfect meat over and over again. But how can a cow (or any other animal) that is cloned be the exact same. If its put in a different environment (if you were cloned just to be eaten....) then the food intake and out take may be different. If the exercise was not the same the marbelization of the meat would be different.....

Research shows meat isn't as healthy as one might think. On average, vegetarians live longer, healthier lives. People are under the impression meat is great because of protein, but really protein can be found in other sources. Also meat can be high in bad things such as cholesterol, and getting a large order of fries with that burger really doesn't help the cause, for example. As for why switch to vegetarian, visit a factory farm or slaughterhouse or ride on a transportation truck or train and see how billions of animals every year in the U.S. face their death; things certainty aren't a walk in the park for them. There are sympathetic/empathetic people out there, for instance, Michael Jackson was, who do not believe in the unethical aspects from raising to slaughtering animals. Also people are vegetarians for the health benefits and to help the environment. In South America, rain forests are being cut down in part to build grazing areas for cattle. Well eating meat is considered a healthy diet option. Adding french fries and a burger are not healthy. To be correct a playing card size of meat is actually beneficial to the human body. Red Meat contains zinc/iron/protein/"good fats"/b vitamins/can promote weight loss. however like anything else if you are eating a 14 oz steak for dinner and had a Double Cheese Burger for lunch then you run an increased risk for diseases such as: Alzheimers, bowel cancer, high cholesterol. Pork is the healthiest red meat while beef the most nutritious. Cutting out meat from a diet can be very detrimental if you do not actively change your entire diet. The body needs certain proteins to stay alive. Many of these proteins are found in meat. Proteins are responsible for duplicating DNA to building muscle. If you are to adopt a vegetarian/vegan life style one must be willing to find the important proteins elsewhere. If you are going totally vegan then you must, may i reiterate, you MUST MUST MUST research healthy living from reputable nutritionists, not just a website on the internet. Talk to a nutritionist and they will tell you what sort of foods and vitamins you will need to keep your body healthy..... In defense of the health part though many non-vegetarian or meat eaters are also just as healthy as vegetarians. Becoming vegetarian does not make you healthy. Eating the right foods in proportion with exercise makes you healthy. To be truthful, I am an animal lover btw, but a factory butcher shop does not bother me. If it was not for the factory I would have to raise my own cattle and slaughter/clean/package my own meat. As long as they dont destroy the environment pollution/forest clearing/etc I have no qualms about it. I understand animals have feelings, but so do I and if I need to eat to keep my self alive then I will do that..... In high school I worked at a softserve ice cream mini golf course (that may or may not be next to a bowling alley on the west side) and It was not ice cream but it did taste good. I didnt know you could make frozen cream (from animals) and make it vegetarian/vegan friendly.... who knew.... and from working there for all those years I can not eat soft serve anymore. Too much deliciousness becomes blah How do they clone meat? If I am not mistake doesn't cloning require an egg to be fertilized? Like the egg begins to develop and somewhere in the early stages of division (well before division) the insides are cleaned out and the cloned DNA is inserted? Thus cause the division of the egg to proceed and create the cloned animal. To create a cloned object (since meat is not alive) wouldnt they be able to create any inanimate object? Just like Urkel did in Family Matters.....

Jell-O - Gelatin - Protein - And I may be wrong about this but for a "true" vegetarian/vegan meal it must not even touch possible animal byproducts? I'm willing to guess dimes to dollars that many of the items in the original menu are not prepared in their own kitchen with a staff who has sterilized and retreated everything to avoid "contamination" from the animal products.

Backlot Stunt Coaster Trains Being Stripped of Their Theming
shark6495 replied to DBru's topic in Kings Island
actually if they re-did Vortex's station and removed The Bat remains (I am assuming the old looking house style and the cut out for the track) it would not be received with much negative. More positive. Sort of fixing up an older ride.... but the de-coopering of the mini-coopers im not sure how this can be turned into good, but oh well..... Edit: Haha thanks hookyboysb -

I see what you are saying but would it be wrong to say that the trains they used because of the loop were heavier than the replacement trains? I just want to know if I should edit my statement from above.... -

shark6495 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
well because of the loop they had to use heavier trains. Because of the heavier trains it caused more stress on the track, in certain areas. Because of the more stress the wood cracked in a certain area. It was later found that the wood cracked sooner because it was inferior. So I guess if there was no loop the trains would have been lighter. If the trains were lighter the wood not have cracked at the time it did. If the wood did not crack then there would have been no accident.... -

well as the news business finds ways to make more money it means less time to shoot updated file footage. And unless a park gives you footage you use what you have. In a perfect world the tv station would have the time and funds and the bodies to get updated footage for every article. However when you have a camera man who makes about what a walmart greeter makes, or just slightly more, who has a full plate of things to do with a boss who is more interested in the time deadline than story then you have a photog who will just shoot what they can do. I have been there and done that its not fun but you do what you can. If it means you can save an hour of your day by just shooting the lift hill and the station you do that. If it means you can save 2 hours of your day and run some file footage you do. And as I said with news stations cutting salaries and cutting workers there are just not enough people to shoot all that. So dont knock the news for giving you stock footage (just not the right footage) of the ride. Heck they could just give you a shoulder box.... -
well the first video was before the ride opened.... the second was after that. So I would go to guess that after some testing someone said "we should slow this ride down. So we should make the skid brake longer. This may cause some sort of argument on the 'internet' in the future. But it will keep the ride running that long."

^^ was that the all you can eat back in the area between the water park and Wild Thornberrys?

^^ there are many reasons of why a tv station only has footage of the lift hill. The first helix is hidden from view by being "off in the back" and the second helix is hidden by the lift. So if a reporter/photog was told to "just spray some footage of the coaster" the photog will set up his tripod out front of the ride and shoot the lift. Another possibility is that the park does not want news reporters stomping around in the back filming what may be considered some sort of trade secret. Thirdly it could be the only thing the park wants shown as the other part was under construction at the time (odds are its all file footage of the ride at this point).... I dont understand why if you dont like the pain rides that SOB gives you are a hater and if you enjoy the non-pain rides SoB gives then you are a non-hater. You all are simplifying it for no reason. I would guess no one on here wants to see a ride taken apart. But no one on here wants to see a ride cause pain either. If you are luck enough to experience a pain free ride on SoB then good for you, you are the body type the ride was made for. If you are unlucky enough to get a painful ride on SoB, Im sorry you managed to either experience what everyone is talking about or were just unlucky. I have had both. I have not had a pain free ride since the removal of the loop (take that as it is). Could we not just say haters and non-haters because you all make it sound like we are defending/accusing an actual person.... its a ride...... -
heres my tips. Buy one of those refillable cups and share among the family. But the biggest thing is not to eat inside the park, especially if you have a family of 8! There is a Biggs just one exit south of KI(if you want to buy some cold cuts or ice to refill the cooler) or many fast food joints located exits north or south.

I dont see a major park company like CF (or whoever owns it) letting a ride rot. I see human upkeep on this ride being no different. Its a massive strucutre and the last thing the park/mother company needs is a ride collapsing during the season (looking a few years out). So with that being said I dont think youll see SoB in a pile of rubble unless some unknown "act of God" causes the ride to collapse -
best thing ever... i just booked marked that link and will use it now when someone does something aggravating....

true if you say the word "King" then you must be talking about mr Petty. If you are talking about a true intimidation, well I will never forget Bristol and Earnhardt and Labontee banging sheet metal..... now you say you are an Earnhardt fan so why would it be bad if the black and white #3 was leading the rainbow warrior to the finish line? I say nothing would be better than Gordon chocking on E's exhaust...... but I was a Mark Martin fan.... oh whoa is me... lol -

so if they repaint one of those cars to be the black 3, are they allowed (i mean do they have the rights) to showcase certain nascar drivers? I am sure they got some sort of ok from DEI but what hendrick motorsports for the gordon mobile? Does Nascar have to give an "all clear" for its drivers likenesses to be used? -
In the AP book of writing style (as of 2006) the "correct" way was to say that alcohol was involved. According to the AP you cant mention specifically how much alcohol was involved until it was officially released from the hosiptal/police. For example, a reporter could be on the phone and talking to an officer. The officer says "yeah they had a bunch of alcohol in their system" the reporter says "is that official?" and the police would then say "no, not yet." Same thing if the officer/doctor/etc would say there was slight alcohol in the system, the reporter has to use the generic term of "alcohol was involved."

well technically if you go back in time long enough ohio was under a lake.....

well if you remove the wood tracks wouldnt SOB no longer be the tallest wooden roller coaster? Would it have the title of the worlds tallest wood/steel hybrid coaster. Plus if you only replace the track then you would still have to inspect and replace wood on the structure (remember the structure was what broke originally, not the track). Steel actually transmits vibrations better than wood. So if you have a vibrating coaster on steel tracks it would probably transfer the vibrations quicker into the structure. Whoever has to make this decision will not do so lightly but retracking the coaster in steel may not, in my humble but educated opinion, fix all of the issues with the coaster. EDIT: Darn you goodyellowkorn....

but then again we dont know the weight of a single wood piece of track so its hard to guess. But remember a pound of lead and a pound of feathers are the same thing, its just a matter of density and distribution
