Another trim on I305?
shark6495 replied to gigacoaster2k's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
actually your build could have an effect. If you are more muscular you are more likely to be able to keep the blood from rushing into your core. Plus its all about "the body." Fighter pilots experience the same and more (much more) g-forces that riders experience. They do not (and cant, for safety) gray or black out. Its all about conditioning and getting yourself trained to keep your blood in the right places. If you tense the muscles (the right ones) you are more likely to keep the blood in the brain and to keep yourself from graying blacking out. Personal story, I only ever grayed out on one ride and that was king Kobra with the last turn (helix?) on the ride. Back lot doesnt bother me but boy that little Kobra packed a punch.... And thirteen play nice -
Just because a lightbulb is new and checked doesn't mean it won't short out? Any logic otherwise is absolutely laughable... And as for Flight Commander, I suppose your right. A woman fell out, but the ride was checked and "there was no possible way to fall out." So it must've been the Twilight Zone! And since it was the Twilight Zone, Paramount rigged it since they own the awfully-similar, but much-updated Outer Limits, because they knew that years later they'd own the park and have a ride themed to it so they sent in disguised (but for their Paramount name tag) Paramount spies to rig the ride, then killed off a couple guests to ensure they'd own the park and voila! The rest is history! I think you're trying to make it seem like Kings Island has some dark, unexplained, horrific things that have happened just to build up mystery. That, however, is not the case. Sorry. hahaha.... man goodyellowkorn you make me laugh.... and very true. Just because something is "ok" the day before does not mean something didnt happen (a kid could have picked up a rock dropped it in the lake and it hit the light.) or maybe the light burnt out (happens, bad bulb) caused the light to burst and short.... so many things could have happened. And yes the ride was checked out after the accident but that does not mean she still could (and she did) slip out.
-
well I have never heard the rumor that paramount rigged the park... seriously who ever started that is dumber than a rock... and what do you mean no one found any reasons to explain them? A light shorted out causing the lake to conduct electricity (explained). Lady was intoxicated slipped out of her seat and died (explained).....

Another trim on I305?
shark6495 replied to gigacoaster2k's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Blacking out doesn't kill anybody anyways.......so why would they care about it? That's the intensity and thrill of it! Now watch, I305 will end up being like The Beast. More and more trims added on, until the point the ride gets slower and less thrilling. havnt we been through this before? the ride has not received more trims. unless you count from the day it was built till the day it was open.... -
one arm.... if you want a drink it will cost you the leg
-
yup you are right... my bad... I dont know what I was thinking...... carry on
-
well if you watch the flash banner on the main page, the page that says Opening day shows Son of Beast.....
-
yea no doubt that web site has now gotten bumped to the top of my kill time when i am doing nothing list...... lol
-
yea i quit cub scouts (mainly because i thought it was dumb, I painted a prayer rock... a rock you put under your pillow so when you go to sleep you hit your head and remember to pray.... blah) but then I joined boy scouts when I was like 12 or 13.... I got my eagle scout. Best thing I have ever done. If you join scouts for one camp out, please stay for a few more. I promise you, that you will get more out of scouts than what you put in.....

Backlot Stunt Coaster Trains Being Stripped of Their Theming
shark6495 replied to DBru's topic in Kings Island
I know that the Terp has his sources, I was just head scratching for a minute. I have mentioned in the past that the change was all about money, but then I was told not necessarily. My personal opinion, LOL, Is that with Viacom opening their parks in the big mall, and in Louisiana, I think, that they wanted to have a proprietary park. A small scale Disney of sorts. The best way to do that? Jack up the existing parks using the license to where they would be crazy to re new it. My point is, with all the information that is ultimately leaked, why hasn't the license amount came out yet. Maybe I am speaking for just myself here but, I would be a lot more apt to embrace the changes at the park if management came out said what the price to renew Nick was going to be. Now, before you say it's not my business, and they don't have to reveal that info, I will reply by saying that pro athletes salaries are released even though they may not be necessary for me to know, it helps me understand why when two different players have equal numbers, one gets cut, the other does not. I hope I am making my point clearly, I have a tendency to ramble, and no, I was not just poking The Interpreter with a stick! I think that the numbers come out, for athletes, to help athletes. Its not because of the business. I think its more that the agent will use those numbers to help their player. Taking our own local pro-team (bengals) and their owner (MB). Brown does not release his spread sheets to anyone. If it was up to that business (same with baseball, etc) the salaries may never be known. But they are released to help make bigger future deals. (if this is disjointed I apologize, little sleep and pain killers) Plus releasing numbers wouldnt help me "accept" the change....... lol -

anyone could do anything..... with that being said what you want and what a business will do, well most likely that will never happen. It would be nice for a company to be transparent in everything it does, but it does not work like that. Sometimes you dont tell everyone every reason for the reasons you do things. -

If there comes a time when a companies finances require they only run what is "essential" on a ride (ex. the breaks, the chain...) and they couldn't run extras even if they wanted to (flames, water, music), then perhaps, just perhaps, they should not own said ride, or the park in which it resides, anymore. If Cedar Fair is going to "die," it is not fair for them to drag us down with them. You are right but no one ever does it like that. Why do people push their fuel (in the car) to the last drop? or even let said vehicle to stay on the road even if it is dangerous? because they think it will be alright. A company does cost cutting because they think it will work. just my 2.5 cents -
Oh I didnt mean to point you out. I find cloning very interesting, so thats why I asked the question of how they did it. http://www.popsci.com/scitech/article/2006-08/cloned-beef-its-whats-dinner I think I found your article. Way cool. Slightly different from what you said but great memory for over a year. So it seems (at least to this article) that if you find a perfect steak you can basically send it out to be cloned into a whole cow then you would be able to have that perfect meat over and over again. But how can a cow (or any other animal) that is cloned be the exact same. If its put in a different environment (if you were cloned just to be eaten....) then the food intake and out take may be different. If the exercise was not the same the marbelization of the meat would be different.....

Research shows meat isn't as healthy as one might think. On average, vegetarians live longer, healthier lives. People are under the impression meat is great because of protein, but really protein can be found in other sources. Also meat can be high in bad things such as cholesterol, and getting a large order of fries with that burger really doesn't help the cause, for example. As for why switch to vegetarian, visit a factory farm or slaughterhouse or ride on a transportation truck or train and see how billions of animals every year in the U.S. face their death; things certainty aren't a walk in the park for them. There are sympathetic/empathetic people out there, for instance, Michael Jackson was, who do not believe in the unethical aspects from raising to slaughtering animals. Also people are vegetarians for the health benefits and to help the environment. In South America, rain forests are being cut down in part to build grazing areas for cattle. Well eating meat is considered a healthy diet option. Adding french fries and a burger are not healthy. To be correct a playing card size of meat is actually beneficial to the human body. Red Meat contains zinc/iron/protein/"good fats"/b vitamins/can promote weight loss. however like anything else if you are eating a 14 oz steak for dinner and had a Double Cheese Burger for lunch then you run an increased risk for diseases such as: Alzheimers, bowel cancer, high cholesterol. Pork is the healthiest red meat while beef the most nutritious. Cutting out meat from a diet can be very detrimental if you do not actively change your entire diet. The body needs certain proteins to stay alive. Many of these proteins are found in meat. Proteins are responsible for duplicating DNA to building muscle. If you are to adopt a vegetarian/vegan life style one must be willing to find the important proteins elsewhere. If you are going totally vegan then you must, may i reiterate, you MUST MUST MUST research healthy living from reputable nutritionists, not just a website on the internet. Talk to a nutritionist and they will tell you what sort of foods and vitamins you will need to keep your body healthy..... In defense of the health part though many non-vegetarian or meat eaters are also just as healthy as vegetarians. Becoming vegetarian does not make you healthy. Eating the right foods in proportion with exercise makes you healthy. To be truthful, I am an animal lover btw, but a factory butcher shop does not bother me. If it was not for the factory I would have to raise my own cattle and slaughter/clean/package my own meat. As long as they dont destroy the environment pollution/forest clearing/etc I have no qualms about it. I understand animals have feelings, but so do I and if I need to eat to keep my self alive then I will do that..... In high school I worked at a softserve ice cream mini golf course (that may or may not be next to a bowling alley on the west side) and It was not ice cream but it did taste good. I didnt know you could make frozen cream (from animals) and make it vegetarian/vegan friendly.... who knew.... and from working there for all those years I can not eat soft serve anymore. Too much deliciousness becomes blah How do they clone meat? If I am not mistake doesn't cloning require an egg to be fertilized? Like the egg begins to develop and somewhere in the early stages of division (well before division) the insides are cleaned out and the cloned DNA is inserted? Thus cause the division of the egg to proceed and create the cloned animal. To create a cloned object (since meat is not alive) wouldnt they be able to create any inanimate object? Just like Urkel did in Family Matters.....

Jell-O - Gelatin - Protein - And I may be wrong about this but for a "true" vegetarian/vegan meal it must not even touch possible animal byproducts? I'm willing to guess dimes to dollars that many of the items in the original menu are not prepared in their own kitchen with a staff who has sterilized and retreated everything to avoid "contamination" from the animal products.

actually if they re-did Vortex's station and removed The Bat remains (I am assuming the old looking house style and the cut out for the track) it would not be received with much negative. More positive. Sort of fixing up an older ride.... but the de-coopering of the mini-coopers im not sure how this can be turned into good, but oh well..... Edit: Haha thanks hookyboysb -

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
shark6495 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I see what you are saying but would it be wrong to say that the trains they used because of the loop were heavier than the replacement trains? I just want to know if I should edit my statement from above.... -

shark6495 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
well because of the loop they had to use heavier trains. Because of the heavier trains it caused more stress on the track, in certain areas. Because of the more stress the wood cracked in a certain area. It was later found that the wood cracked sooner because it was inferior. So I guess if there was no loop the trains would have been lighter. If the trains were lighter the wood not have cracked at the time it did. If the wood did not crack then there would have been no accident.... -

well as the news business finds ways to make more money it means less time to shoot updated file footage. And unless a park gives you footage you use what you have. In a perfect world the tv station would have the time and funds and the bodies to get updated footage for every article. However when you have a camera man who makes about what a walmart greeter makes, or just slightly more, who has a full plate of things to do with a boss who is more interested in the time deadline than story then you have a photog who will just shoot what they can do. I have been there and done that its not fun but you do what you can. If it means you can save an hour of your day by just shooting the lift hill and the station you do that. If it means you can save 2 hours of your day and run some file footage you do. And as I said with news stations cutting salaries and cutting workers there are just not enough people to shoot all that. So dont knock the news for giving you stock footage (just not the right footage) of the ride. Heck they could just give you a shoulder box.... -
well the first video was before the ride opened.... the second was after that. So I would go to guess that after some testing someone said "we should slow this ride down. So we should make the skid brake longer. This may cause some sort of argument on the 'internet' in the future. But it will keep the ride running that long."

^^ was that the all you can eat back in the area between the water park and Wild Thornberrys?
