seriously if they re-open it till the next injury that would be horrible for a company to do, it would show a major lack of judgment. Possibly they are waiting out the economy before deciding what to do with the coaster. I mean they may have 2 options (tear it down/redesign-refix issues) and are deciding what would be better in the long haul with the economy possibly changing in the off-season or next year. It costs the park almost no money for it to be SBNO for this season and next. (BTW do they inspect it daily if it is SBNO?) If the economy does not improve they may go with the cheaper option, which ever that is. Sadly I do not think that fans of the ride will persuade anyone from changing the outcome of this ride. I enjoyed SOB but do agree it does need some work, but as stated before it is what it is, and thats a 200 + foot drop and a coaster going at least 70 mph, so you took the good with the bad. It will b very interesting to see what happens over the next few months. What I wouldnt pay to be a fly on the inside of those walls....

Hey BoddaH I may be a newer member to KIC but if I can offer my slight expertise to the newsletter I would be more than willing to help out with it in anyway you need. An article written or such and such. I have a degree in Digital Media Convergence which incorporates Radio/TV/Print journalism. I may not be able to get to the park as often as I like as I will soon be going to grad school this fall at Kent, but would love to offer up my ability to help the common goal....

which works great for a thread in another segment saying we need to build a parking garage and add rides in the current parking lot haha... (please dont hate me I was only messing :)

thanks for the research. If I am in town I will see if I can get the fiance to go with me to the park if not then I will be riding rides mentallyy that day and giving money to a charity anyways

screamingnight you should have said yup hahaha

so does the tix money go to support anything other than the inside of CF pockets? I have never been to a pride day but always wondered about it......... plus I didnt know it was open to straight people........ so I just sort of assumed I was not invited....

you know why you didnt like The Beast.... you didnt grow up on it. I think for people who go to the park The Beast is the ride that is your first step to adult roller coasters, or at least it was in the 90s. Sure you had Vortex but before you rode a steel coaster with a loop you had to handle the "sharp" first hill of beast. I think this is why so many people have so many positive memories of the coaster. Plus the fact that it is so long for its time may be a reason the older KI people love it. To be truthful The Beast is much better at night too bad you couldnt ride it at night... but glad you enjoyed your day

I got yellled at once on the tower for sneezing...... I had a continous sneeze , like 4 or 5 in a row, i covered my mouth the first 3 times but I some how hit my head and sneezed again and the lady who was up there said something like why were spitting off the railing... I was like ummmmm I was sneezing...... after a few moments she understood but they do take it semi serious..... this was about 3 or four years ago.... the yr before college so maybe 2004..... ok or 5 years now ... wow im old

As a working member of the Media (Not in Cincy) its important that the difference between personal opinion and fact be stated. But then again if a media member only uses one site for his or her "fact" checking they deserve the punishment and what else that comes for reporting rumors

well how old was the girl?
-
you forgot hip hip hurrah..... but why does it fail it allows people an opportunity to discuss the options of having a ride open.....
-
to be truthful I really hope that when it comes to safety and money issues the planners do not think "how will the skyline now look?" Even though I must say it is very impressive when driving south on 71..... but the thought process has to be at this point how much will it cost to keep the ride open and fixing (or major overhaul) every 4-5 years and would it be cheaper to build a ride that operate more often for a cheaper price........ Side note does anyone know for sure that the wood would be unusable after (if they would) tear it down? It can not be used anywhere else?
-
maybe they are afraid of future speculation.... sort of like well they think we may reopen it so lets let people think "hey it may open" versus people going "oh C*** its closed for tthe season that means its done for start the bonfire...." but then again people are already doing both soooo..... maybe they think that by not announcing it people will keep coming to the park hoping it is open..... who knows... And Side note I just heard gangstas paradise being played during sunday night football talking about people in the Football Hall of Fame.... now back on topic....

I just wanted to make sure I was not crazy...

is it just me or did the original thread disappear?

Well I would have to think the massive size difference has alot to do with the time difference between the coasters. Plus it could be that CF has decided they need to find a way to "fix/change/alter/etc" SOB before they reopen it while FH was much easier to check and since it has no previous incidents it was easier to clear. Sort of if you get pulled over for speeding, and you have no other tickets or record you may get off with a warning where if you have multiple tickets you may get a larger ticket and have your car impounded..... (Just an example)

mrsteele glad you brought this up. The ride may just be down for the rest of the season and we will not know anything new until next season. The difference between Firehawk and sob was a man maybe died because of outside reasons and not the ride

My bad on the double post but a test on KI history I would fail since I am only 23 and only know from personal history about the park. However a common sense test would not be so bad

its also society, everything works well in a small test, when everyone agrees on a certain topic. The problem arrises when more and more people join and other ideas or perspectives are thrown into the mix. The extra ideas are not bad but what is bad is when people can not understand why others would disagree wiith other people. For example I may not like drop zone but someone may take offense and try to bash me for my lack of enthusiasm for rides or something else. I am proud to say I am new to this site and am veryy happy to be able to discuss things on here and try (key word here is to try) and not revert to the LCD (lowest common denominator) in discussions that turn ugly.....
