KINGS ISLAND TRIAL updates and discussion
shark6495 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
I understand what you are saying, but there is a small problem with only one part. Lets say, just for a case of argument, the lady does have some sort of degrading hip injury. This injury was caused by the ride, and in an extension the park. How is it fair for the lady to only get initial costs of the hospital visits and not further medical damage caused by the ride/park. I understand if she is faking, and as they say it will all come out in the wash, she deserves nothing, but if she is in as much pain as she says she is then the park should be held responsible to the fullest extent possible. Now some doctors can say "if you have to have your hip replaced now, the average life span of a joint is X amount of years. They can then take the expected life expectancy of this woman and subtract the life expectancy of the hip joint and get an average guess on how many hip replacements she may need. Think brakes on a car. Life expectancy is on average 30-45 thousand miles. But if you brake hard then they wear out much quicker, brake softer last much longer..... what were the 26 other ppls injuries?? Also didnt that lady have a prior workers comp case for a work related injury? i heard a few co workers talking about the case at work and over heard them talking about it. Hey I am not defending her... just giving an opposing view point, trying to keep things equal... Now if she has a current workers comp case going, well thats not good for her. How can you prove one injury was from what cause, work or ride. About the other injuries.... weird things happen. You could be in a car crash driver and have no injuries while your passenger in the front seat has three broken ribs, but the 2 passengers in the back have head injuries.... so who knows.... -

good thing she wasnt jogging, running, doing the stanky leg, jumping jacks, or arobics that day.....if that was on video she would have been torn apart in the court room. well some orthopedic physicians suggest walking to keep joints movable, and some places have under water jogging/swimming as post operation rehab..... Now I have no idea what the stanky leg is..... -

very true video can not determine the future, and if a very important join such as the hip joint is wearing down over time that girl is in for a load of problems. -

So the whole KI defense of the case is from one video? Saying she was carrying a bag of groceries, no idea what was in there-could have been cereal and bread, and she lifted her leg up while buckling in her son? Some people can still try to live a normal life 2 years after an injury. The fact remains she may be in pain and she has learned to "deal with the pain." So if I am wrong the lady's lawyer have an "orthopedic surgeon who no longer performs surgery but is an expert on the discipline" while KI has "a former emergency room doctor who works with various agencies on determining when injured people are able to return to work." This does not seem to be a very good person to have in your corner. Thats similar to have a transmission problem on your care and having the tire guy saying you should be fine........ -

well sadly its always an accident or a freak accident that can doom a ride... but it also leads to better ride designs in the future..... and hip injuries can develop..... sometimes a bone does not break but can bruise... it may take a few days for symptoms to appear, then awkward limping can result to permanent damage.... and then hip replacement.... I am not a doctor but just have been hurt a few times and your body over compensates... so its possible..... -
They do use the line for HH. It is now the line for Flight Deck. Instead of closing Flight Deck for HH like they did last year, the line goes through SOB's line, through one of the switchbacks and then one of the silver hand rails are gone, you continue down towards the exit of Flight Deck but right before you start to go over the bridge you take a left (not through the cut through from the exit to the line) and then you are in the line right before you head up the stairs towards the candy machine. Make sense? Probably not but I tried. I think I understand how they are using the line... but does that mean when you are exiting you are cutting through the line?

so amazingly you can not just google Roller Coaster Insurance.... (I dont think Flo from Progressive has a CF aisle...) but if you think about how the calculate auto insurance, its based on driving record, usage, model type etc...... so thats something to think about.... and side note KIC is such a refreshing blog to visit... no real shouting, and no random yahoos spouting off politics or hate speech.... yay for KIC....
-
Well, I am not a lawyer and I do not play one on tv, but I would think the trials are not hugely important to the future of the ride, unless a CF lawyer feels that this is just the beginning of a future tidal wave of claims..... but yeah I guess they can be added to my mental list......
-
besides the woman's trial happening... and the random lights on, reported a page ago, has anything significant happened around this ride in the last few weeks? Recapping what I know, and anyone feel free to add to this list as its here to help all who come after us.... Ride shut down. Ride Cleared by state, but remained closed Ride closed for remainder of year, given dreaded SBNO Ride Que is bolted and zip tied closed Signs removed from Que Line Ride was test some time in September Is the above all correct? any additions need to be added? Are they using the SOB Que line for anything to do with HH?

yeah attack the peacemaker.... i see how it is... Im like the Swiss... just minding my own business and ya'll just march on through here.... ...

Hey gang.... Just want to take a moment and make sure every one takes a deep breath.... Old members please dont get angry at the newbies, and the new members please dont attack the older members because if you take the time you will see that some of the older members of the boards know more than you will know..... (old being old timers on here, not old in years).... with that being said..... I dont think the park will make an announcement till after the new year.....
-
were you inspired by the recent explosion of bengal haikus?
-
why such anger at each other over something the park did. As paying customers, everyone is entitled to their opinions about how the park is operating. If one person feels that the park is not utilizing something they promote, then that person has the right to stand out and say "Hey how come you told us this, but are instead doing that." SnakePit, check the tude at the door and be chill..... we all should be more chill while discussing the park.....

...but it was Twitter Facebook Twitter (Haunt Specific) Haunt Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather (KICentral) No Hallween Haunt Tonight (KIExtreme) All of this is in addition to it being posted on their main website. but what about the mobile site, I did not bother to run to my phone that day to check it out, and thus the main idea of my post. I understand they did the twitter and facebook sites, but if its as the dude said not on the mobile site why didnt they do that one. I included the twitter and facebook sites in my post as part of digital media convergence..... But we can agree that with the exception of the mobile site (which even I had completely forgotten about) and the robo-caller (which according to Terpy is illegal) they used every means they had to inform people of the closure, right? No I agree with you the park did a good job of trying to inform the park but my thoughts are more directed to my original question of are these extras (twitter, facebook, mobile site) for the use of information of guests or just some high tech, in fashion commercial for the park. I think it could be both, but why bother to promote any if you dont utilize all of them.... I hope my point is clear if not let me know and I will restate it, hopefully more clear...

As the original poster (or OP) of this topic, I said nothing about the mobile site. I was just trying to spread the word that Haunt had been cancelled that night. It wasn't until Reclaimer posted that the mobile site was brought up in the conversation. Thanks, and my apologies..... i fixed my mistake

i have noticed that going up the hill the restraints do go up a bit but i have never had an issue with the restraints after cresting the first hill.... no more movement.....

I agree and disagree at the same time. I agree that the park should update their mobile site, but I disagree on the fact that it cant be a final say on emergency scenarios. I worked in radio and tv and dabbled slightly with the web at both jobs (mainly during emergency storm situations) and I can tell you, this depends on the software they use, that it would not be difficult to post something on their mobile and land websites. I get the whole idea of this thread was started because KI failed to update their mobile site, and this is a very valid if not prominent complaint. RECLAIMER correctly stated that if the park is to "use" the social networking and mobile sites then they should use them all the time correctly. If they can make phone calls to the individual park managers why couldnt the IT or the web guy get a phone call that says "send out a message haunt closed for the night due to weather" it could be sent to twitter, facebook, and the mobile site. iPhone or any other phone that accesses the internet could have seen this update very quickly. Yes the OP could have made a quick phone call to the park at any point during his drive, but it raises another question: Are the new social networking accounts and mobile sites put in place to advise the public about the park or is it just a way to funnel money into Ceder Fair's bank account? Honestly it can be both, but it would take just an ounce of effort from the park to do such a thing..... Edit for content

well up here in columbus its wet on the ground and just cold..... as of right now....
-
reclaimer I agree with you that the park could update their mobile site more often, but with that being said you said you pulled over to check the web site. If the web site says one thing, and the weather is showing another why didnt you just make a 3 min quick phone call. Not attacking just offering up an idea for next time if there is one.... How did we ever survive with out cell phones and the internet?
-
great video... but the lil girl did not clear that ride requirement lol
-
If the park saw a huge amount of money not coming in, then they may decide to change the ink and the stamps, but in Mason people may have more morals about paying for the park. Or people who visit KI never think about cheating to get into the park. Time will tell eventually if the park will need to change their re-entry stamps....

Not sure if it belongs here or in the off topic segment and I am sure if I posted it in the wrong area it will get moved..... Now here is my ultimate question I want to know if I have in fact line jumped, or been jumped in line.... There have been many times when I have gone to ride Face Off (Invertigo) and they have the whole que line open, yet no one is in line. I sometimes walk the whole line and look up to see a group of people duck under the empty ques and walk to the last spot in line, and I too have done this also. Does this constitute "official" line jumping? I let the people who have walked all the way around to go in front of me unless the ride is a walk on ride, so dont harass me as I do let the people who walk the whole empty que line to get in front of me. So the question I am asking you KICers, do I demand my rightful spot in line or let it go for the one spot........

a one time only would then turn into a bunch of people who missed out then would get mad at the park for not extending it. then the useless conversation about why does The Beast not run with out trims all the time.... then heaven forbid what would happen if there was a massive accident when the train was running with out trims.... can of worms.... back to SOB..... it is its own can of worms right now........
