  1. There are some unconfirmed reports (supposedly on employees Facebook pages and TPR) that the employees were not paid today. If true, that cannot be a good sign.
  2. Dollywood has stated that there with not be any additional on-ride theming besides the trains during a construction tour given the day after the announcement. They did say that they have big plans for the queue though. I think the view from this ride will be more then enough theming!
  3. They have a very fun/intense looking invert going in at Parc Asterix in France as well. http://rcdb.com/9675.htm Good year for B&M!
  4. Wild Eagle a new B&M Wingrider for Dollywood in 2012! http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23793&start=1480 This ride looks like it is going to be absolutely awesome!
  5. I think as a fan of Kings Island that this is a great addition. It will help with capacity issues at the water park and offer a few new experiences that families can enjoy together. I have not been to the water park at KI in more than a decade but this may very well be what gets me back there next year. The not-so-lazy-river looks very fun and tubes in a wave pool sounds like a great time. I want KI to be a well rounded park and I think these last few years of additions/upgrades has gone a long way in making sure that it is a place that has something for everybody. Think about it, if you are a thrill seeker we have a park that offers rides like Diamondback, Beast, Drop Tower, Firehawk, and Delirium among others. If you are someone who prefers a little bit less in the way of intensity you can spend the day on Adventure Express, Racer, WindSeeker (depending on how you feel about how this ride should be classified). If you don't like roller coasters or high thrills at all you can take a few spins on Boo Blasters, or ride the Scrambler, Monster, or Carousel. We have three water rides highlighted by a great rapids ride and an award winning kids area. Even if you don't like rides at all there is a great selection of shows to enjoy. In my (nowhere near expert) opinion I believe that a pattern of additions that looks like what we have gotten from 2009 on does a lot more for the long term future of the park then adding 3 new coasters over that time would have done. Personally I expect that that may be a theme moving forward: additions that are family friendly. Families are where the money is and the new CEO comes from a company that has more or less perfected the family theme park experience. While I have no experience in the industry and no inside knowledge to this effect, but I think we will see most CF parks focusing more on family oriented additions with far less frequent 'high thrill' rides being added. The exception to that rule may be Cedar Point which has long marketed itself as a thrill seekers paradise. To me there is more then enough to at Kings Island to keep my thrill seeking side happy for a season. Would I love to have an El Toro or Afterburn? Of course. But to me the long term viability of a park I truly love to visit is far more important then having the biggest or best coaster collection.
  6. Sundays in October are some of my favorite days to visit KI. Crowds (especially earlier) are usually quite light outside of Planet Snoopy. Haunt isn't really my thing so going on Sundays works out great.
  7. Action Theater was free last year showing Sponge Bob and is an upcharge this year with the dino movie.
  8. It's the same logo as last year. Edit: Looks like I was a little slow typing lol
  9. I don't know where Intamin track for U.S. is manufactured but it is worth nothing that Skyrush at Hershey has bright white track.
  10. ^^I noticed that as well! Seems to put to rest any doubt that Ms. Parton may have a some very similar news this weekend.
  11. ^Mexico is rumored to be getting Pandemonium that is being removed from Discovery Kingdom.
  12. ^I believe you are correct.
  13. X-Flight looks really cool, as does the new drop ride at the mountain...but to me the new Superman coaster at Discovery Kingdom is the most intriguing of the bunch. That looks like it could be a very fun ride. Nothing wrong with a new Premier launcher!
  14. At KI? Drop Tower. I am sucker for the Falling Star at Michigan's Adventure though.
  15. Seems to indicate a more regional marketing strategy as opposed to a national 'Six Flags' marketing campaign.
  16. It's 100% not a dino egg. The coaster is confirmed to be from B&M and has long been rumored to be a wingrider with an bird/eagle theme.
  17. Sounds like a good trip! If you get a chance to go back don't overlook Blue Streak. Some awesome air on that ride! Oh and... Fixed.
  18. ^I agree with GYK as far as the price of relocating Inverti-Face-Go-Off. I would think it would have to be more then a million. I'm sure the transportation costs alone are insane. With what has been announced so far this year it does seem like there may be room for one more 'big' project in the budget somewhere. (Not $28 million big, but perhaps $8-$12 million big.) Though I kept thinking that last year too and turned out to be wrong. Even though I haven't been to Boomerang Bay in more than a decade I would be happy with an addition over there. It seems to be a decent draw and if it shortens the lines for the dry park a tad thats fine by me. As for the rest of the chain, I would bet we will see a WindSeeker at KD either this year or next as well as the dinos. I know WoF was also rumored at one point to be on the candidate list for a WindSeeker. VF reportedly had a record level of season passes sold this year and they haven't had a significant thrill ride added in a few years so maybe they are due. I would think CGA and MA would get smaller additions as seems to have become the norm (I would kill for a Drop Tower/space shot of some type at MA - it would fit perfectly and give them a good thrilling flat ride). Knotts also seems like it may be due for another big addition. Guess we will find out soon! P.S. I'm on my work computer and for some reason the little red spell check line isn't showing up so if I missed a few spelling errors I'm sorry.
  19. The park has hundreds of undeveloped acres. Though I don't think we need to worry about where a new coaster would fit for another year or two.
  20. It's been discussed on here about how bad Cedar Fair wanted Kings Island. Could we begin to see the results of that in the near future? My interpretation of that has always been "we need to buy Kings Island to make sure it does not challenge Cedar Point as a destination park in the region" not "we need to buy Kings Island so we can make it just as thrilling/good/well known/etc. as Cedar Point." Just my opinion though, perhaps I am way off.
  21. http://www.wlfi.com/dpp/news/local/Former-workers-protest-Indiana-Beach An interesting read and something I would certainly like to know more about (from both sides) if anyone else finds anything or has any knowledge about this.
  22. Always great to hear about other people's coaster trips! Glad you had fun. As far as your reviews go... 1) Maverick is far and away the best ride at CP. 2) Diamondback is better then Millie...but I never have gotten a ride where I didn't get awesome air on the hills. 3) I'm sorry but but Flight Deck is way way way better then Iron Dragon. Thanks for sharing!
