  1. Well as far as capacity goes, you can't do much better then the B&M hypers. Since this is running the same trains as the old B&M hypers (and has 3 of them at 32 passengers each) I think the capacity will be on par with Golitath, Nitro, etc. (i.e. nothing to worry about). The length is because it will essentially function as the MCBR for the ride allowing it to run three trains.
  2. Supposedly that rendering is just background art for the site, I would expect that it just was not included. Someone in the TPR thread I linked before had posted some other stuff that referenced lift hight (doesn't rule out a launch, but doesn't point towards one).
  3. Makes one wonder if they may have had more then a little to say about the coming change in management.
  4. Some leaked art from the CW website has been post in this thread on TPR. http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=38407&start=2310
  5. Overall it sounds like a pretty good day! Thanks for taking the time to share it with us.
  6. Here is an interview with Jeff Pike from GCI. When asked if he still visits Kings Island he responds: "They're customers of Great Coasters now, and I still get a little bit of that magic when I go back." Did GCI have a hand in the retracking work done on Beast or have they done other work at the park that I am not aware of?
  7. It is scheduled to open in 2013. Here is the RCDB.com link.
  8. Match 1 The Beast (13) vs. Flight Deck (2) Match 2 Magnum XL-200 (12) vs. Vortex (4) Match 3 Top Thrill Dragster (11) vs. The Racer (5) Match 4 Millennium Force (9) vs. Diamondback (7)
  9. I think this is a great addition for HW. Splashin' Safari is the parks bread and butter and I think its a smart decision on their part to continue to invest in it.
  10. ^^Be prepared to be disappointed...though there is one more aspect of the new ride that is a 'world's first'...less then 2 hours to go!
  11. Sounds like you guys had a pretty good time. I have a soft spot for MA myself...I really can't pin down what it is either, I just really love that park. Shivering Timbers (which has gotten a tad rough this year) and Falling Star alone make the 4.5 hour drive from Indy worth it for me (we actually are making the trip twice this year...).
  12. Match 1 The Beast(7) vs. Wicked Twister(4) Match 2 Firehawk(5) vs. Adventure Express(5) Match 3 Invertigo(0) vs. Top Thrill Dragster(9) Match 4 Flying Ace Aerial Chase(0) vs. Maverick(9) Match 5 Son of Beast(1) vs. Diamondback(10) Match 6 Wildcat(6) vs. Iron Dragon(4) Match 7 Mantis(3) vs. Vortex(6) Match 8 Surf Dog(1) vs. Blue Streak(8) Match 9 Woodstock Express CP(1) vs. Flight Deck(10) Match 10 Woodstock Express KI(6) vs. Mean Streak(4) Match 11 The Racer(8) vs. Corkscrew(2) Match 12 Flight of Fear(11) vs. Great Pumpkin Coaster(0) Match 13 Millennium Force(9) vs. Backlot Stunt Coaster(1) Match 14 Gemini(9) vs. Junior Gemini(1) Match 15 Magnum XL-200(8) vs. Disaster Transport(2) Match 16 Cedar Creek Mine Ride(1) vs. Raptor(9)
  13. I would use it if it's not too expensive. For one, it would give me more choices for days to go (i.e. right now I stick to weekdays to avoid lines, but with this I could go on a Saturday and not have to stand in those lines). Also, if it's free (or super-cheap), it would let me ride Firehawk more often, which, while I love it, isn't (to me) worth the 45- to 60-minute waits that it can produce even on weekdays. I see this as a way for the park to bring in more revenue and therefore do not expect it to be free. I also think that we can probably expect price points similar to what is seen at Six Flags parks simply because if its too cheap and everyone is using it, then it defeats the purpose.
  14. How many of you guys think you would use something like this? I realize that price would obviously be a factor, but I just can't see myself using this service at KI...now CP might be a different story...
  15. According to this thread over at TPR King's Island will make an announcement on Mondayregarding a virtual queuing system coming to the park.
  16. ^Wrong park... As far as tackling summer crowds goes, I don't have much to offer as I have only been there in the winter. I can say that the Butterbeer is pretty amazing and that even in January we had a 90+ minute wait for The Forbidden Journey so I would imagine it would be at least that long.
  17. Glad you had fun! Always good to hear about others having fun at CP! I haven't ridden Shoot the Rapids yet, but I also am yet to hear of anyone really loving the ride yet either.
  18. I didn't hate Mantis nearly as much as I thought I was going to, but without a doubt I like Vortex better. I also love the sound of the chain carrying the train up the hill...its just very 'amusement park-y' to me for lack of a better term.
  19. I think with Millennium Force, Maverick, Raptor, Top Thrill, and Magnum they have a line up that can certainly sustain a 'dry period.' In my experience a lot of the GP (even here in Indy) still see Millennium as the end all be all of roller coasters. I would love to see the rumored B&M Wingrider come to fruition and I believe it would be an excellent addition to an already stellar thrill ride line up. That being said I don't think that the Point would see a significant drop off in attendance even if they didn't install a new coaster until 2014.
  20. The mouse is a good one. Thunderhawk is my only SLC but I found it to be fun and reasonably smooth. They actually have a pretty decent water park too. Personally I doubt you'll need a plan of attack for the dry park as I've never waited more then 15-20 minutes for anything. Their falling star is a must, and I would suggest riding Shivering Timbers in the back.
  21. Spirit Song is/was taking place from Thurs-Sat. The park is usually a complete zoo during that event.
  22. I feel like a Screamin' Swing would fit well in the park. It would add another thrill ride to the dry side of the park within busting the budget.
  23. ^They did...they just did it 12 years ago. While I agree that there are certainly rides that have long term marketing potential, (Beast is a great example) Invertigo isn't one of them, IMO. To each his own though right? -thekidd33...always a little frightened by those who enjoy Invertigo...
  24. My instinct is to say "100% YES!!!"...but let me categorize it by saying the following: 1) Holiday World is a one day park for most people so driving all the way from NC for just Holiday World may be a bit much. 2) The park's 3 wooden coasters are all top notch, but as far as thrill rides go on the dry side of the park there isn't much else. (A lot of good family ride options though.) 3) A big part of the draw of Holiday World is the water park (which is awesome btw). All that being said Holiday World has the best food, employees, and customer service this side of Disney. It really is an amazing park that truly tries to cater everyone in the family.
