Don tweeted that he'd like an event like Beast Buzz to happen again in 2013, and CoasterBuzz/PointBuzz replied that they'd be interested. Hopefully other coaster clubs would get involved as well, should it go forward. This was discussed awhile back: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/5872-beast-buzz Speaking of events, we should make sure to have a big event/meet-up for KICentral this year. Those were apparently a lot of fun several years back, and Don told us on Closing Day that we should have more and bigger meet-ups this year.

How much can possibly get on your hands while eating an ice cream cone? And you had the guts to stand there and look at ride photos after splattering those behind you? I'm sure those next in line weren't very happy with you either, after you presumably left them with a very sticky seat belt.
-
Trash cans at queue entrances can make it confusing from a distance as to whether a ride is open or closed. Using them for purposes other than the collection of trash (i.e. to close a ride or as theming) is tacky. Any sort of sign indicating that the attraction is temporarily is better. Ride closure signs should be seen rarely by guests, so elaborate designs based on the specific ride/area are overkill. Unless the ride is a WindSeeker.

^ If you have a fear of flying, Firehawk is the coaster you should avoid. Flight of Fear is a sit-down coaster, despite the name. If you decide to try it, try the front seat and keep your head back during the launch.

Looking at the newest update to the park's website, it seems that problems spelling the word "excite" aren't exclusive to this forum: EDIT: It got fixed 3 hours and 56 minutes after I made this post.

I knew absolutely nothing about it before I rode it for the first time. I think I was startled by the launch (upon entering the station) and by realizing (on the ride) that I was going upside down. I used to avoid things with inversions. I'm pretty sure I was expecting something more similar to Disaster Transport. I think I had a headache afterwards; I definitely didn't ride it multiple times! I probably missed the printed instruction to have my head flat against the headrest during the launch. It did get me to (finally) ride Vortex, however.

I like the name "Dragster H20". Would somebody please explain to me what's wrong with it and presumably why you don't want me entering naming contests? It's memorable, so perhaps "Dragster Hâ‚‚O" has one positive aspect. I have no idea what KI's mat slides are/were named without looking it up. It's a bad name because a simple mat slide isn't connected in any way theme of auto racing, except for the fact that sliders "race" down the slide. Would "Dragster Kinda Wooden" be a good name for Gemini?

^ You'll be sharing the front row with Original on Opening Day, in that case?

You'd be most likely to encounter me on a midway, since that's where you'd pass the most people. I'm guessing that I traverse the Coney Mall and Rivertown midways most, so I'll give those as my answer. Or perhaps you wanted to know where in the park I could be found at most often. For me, that would probably be in the queue for The Beast, Firehawk, or Flight of Fear. If you went to KI on a particular day, it would be unlikely that you would find me even if I also happened to be at the park. Such is the case when a majority of the day is spent in lines.

Good Wikipedia articles are cited, so you don't have to. In 2007, Son of Beast was using trains from the same manufacturer as Villain's.

Cedar Fair Growth Hits A Snag
malem replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^^ It was in a comment, but these appear to be broken at the moment. Something about whether winter events could further lengthen the profitable portion of the year. Considering that WinterFest at KI was cancelled twice and hasn't been retried again, management seems to believe that it would not. In Ohio, at least. Note that California's Great America leases the entire park to another organization during the holiday season for a winter event. Weather in the SF Bay Area is a lot more predictable than in Ohio, where we could have upper 60s with sunshine or lower 20s with a foot of snow. This article is a great read for anyone who thinks Madam Fatale's or Wolf Pack is wasted space. -
^^ The terms of sale most likely included a deadline for removal, which has presumably long passed. I can't imagine that the buyer would still have a claim after leaving it abandoned on Cedar Fair property for years. Of course, IANAL and I have no information on the actual terms of sale.

So much tragedy as of late. She had her entire life ahead of her. I wish her family, friends, and extended Kings Island family all the best.

^ A park would want a name chosen before a major announcement, so the resulting media coverage could build the new brand. The reason to name something via a poll isn't because the marketing team lacks creativity; it's to build a sense of community or ownership. Hypothetically, if a major roller coaster is announced, this wouldn't be worth name confusion hurting public awareness. Besides, "Dragster H2O" at Cedar Point is a terrible name for a mat slide.

Can't really speak for Don, but I'd say that Fun Perks is certainly returning next year. Don's even mentioned its return here, in another thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25686-gold-passes/page-2#entry482730

^ Simply start to buy a Platinum pass through the Accesso Flash store on visitkingsisland.com. When you add it to your cart, you will be asked if it's a new pass or a renewal. Choose renewal, and type in the old pass number when asked. The price is currently $169 (up from $164 in October) for both new and renewed passes. (Plus the $5 online processing fee per order.)

Holiwood Nights, June 1st-2nd, 2012 (Much Delayed TR)
malem replied to Joncars05's topic in Trip Reports
Thanks for posting; I really enjoyed your elaborate details! It sounds like I really need to try HW's coasters at night. I couldn't re-ride Voyage even with functioning trim brakes, so I can't imagine speeding into its final turn. Were you holding on or putting your hands up? Did you find Mammoth more enjoyable during warmer weather? I'm not sure even I could have enjoyed it in the lower 50s, and I tend to be unusually tolerant of temperature extremes. (I rode it about a dozen times in the lower 60s last August.) By the way, for your photos, you have three options: (if one doesn't work, try another.) Use BB Code for each image, like: [img=http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg103/coasterfusion/20120602_210957-2.jpg] Open your formatted HTML post in a web browser window, and paste the formatted text and images directly into the forum rich editor. In the rich editor, click the Image button to manually insert each image. You'll get a popup form asking for the image URL. Note: to change between the rich editor and the plaintext/code editor, use the lightswitch button when editing. If you're stuck in mobile mode, you'll need to use the workaround to get out of it before options #2 or #3 will work. -
What's the point of voting on what you want to happen, when it's already happened?

^ You can also use the fix directly on the iPhone directly. All you have to do is add a bookmarklet (special bookmark that contains javascript) to enable a "view source" feature on iPhone Safari. See this post: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26521-videos/page-2#entry497129 You seem to be dragging photos directly from your desktop to the edit box in this forum. That doesn't work - you have to upload them to a web server first. See TombRaiderFTW's guide for step-by-step instructions: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26752-tutorial-how-to-upload-photos/ Clear your browser cache. See this post: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26831-site-update/#entry496156 If it's still a problem, it could be a browser toolbar/add-on, an ad blocker, an anti-virus program, or something else either injecting code into or blocking code from this website. You can try troubleshooting steps that vary by browser, or you can try another browser. If this is a Windows computer, I would advise scanning for viruses/spyware. I normally get each newsletter twice - once to the e-mail address I supplied when processing my season pass, and once to the address I signed up with via visitkingsisland.com. This issue only came to the former address. I would suggest using the "contact us" form on visitkingsisland.com to let them know that this newsletter didn't arrive and that you want to enter the contest.

I clicked jcgoble3's link first, but I went to the newsletter link to actually register. Hopefully clicking to the registration page prematurely didn't mess up the entry? For anyone who is wanting to sign up, the subject of the e-mail is "Register to win a winter tour" - check your spam folder if you don't see it. Remember to enter with the same e-mail address you use for the newsletter. Even if you don't remember subscribing to the newsletter, you may have opted in when buying/processing your season pass or registering for FunPerks. It took about 2 months after buying a season pass before I finally started receiving them. P.S. Jonathan: perhaps you should remove that link to prevent any registration mishaps?

The only rides allowing on-ride photography are KI&MV RR and the Eiffel Tower.

Yes, the choice to use these locations as Haunt attractions has been questioned repeatedly here, and answers have been given over and over. To briefly recap: both mazes are highly popular, Haunt comprises a significant portion of the operating season, and the existing structures are well-suited for the purpose. You can certainly disagree about what's there, but the park has plenty of compelling reasons to keep them. Personally, I'd like to see more use of the vertical space in the Madam Fatale's maze. The high ceiling could be more of an asset.
