  1. Or they just decided a different angle would be nice to create some variety. Not everything has to be a clue. Y'all are reading into things too much.
  2. Four-week wait for everything at Kings Island.
  3. Racer has gotten very rough over the last few years. It needs to be completely retracked from start to finish on both sides. If Topper Track is deemed to be the best way to retrack, that's perfectly fine with me even if it would result in it becoming a steel coaster. And as far as the ACE Landmark, it can't be rescinded. It's a recognition of historical importance, nothing more. It's possible that the plaque may be taken down if it is deemed to no longer be the same coaster (possible only, since there really isn't a precedent that I'm aware of), but the award would remain on the books. It is the ACE Coaster Classic award that can be rescinded because of changes to the ride (as was the case with the coaster at KI now known as Woodstock Express).
  4. If you read the source I linked, you'll see that it clearly states that no people had ridden by the time the decision was made. Only water dummies had ridden.
  5. For Tony Clark's sake, Maverick did NOT almost kill people. What you just described is called the initial testing process successfully doing the job it was designed for. There's a reason new coasters are tested with dummies before humans get on, and that is to make sure there are no flaws like that. Humans, even employees, do not ride a new coaster until it has been confirmed safe. Maverick was thoroughly tested with dummies, a flaw was found, and that flaw was fixed before humans ever rode it (source). At no point did it endanger people. It's a negative mark against Intamin, yes, but don't try to claim that It almost killed people. Reserve that claim for Shoot the Rapids, which actually did almost kill people.

  7. 1) The Super 8 is not great, but it's not terrible either. It''s about average for a cheap motel. The problem with cheap hotels/motels is that people come in expecting things that you only get at more expensive places, don't get those things, and then leave reviews calling the place terrible for not offering those things. I stayed there once and didn't have any problems, though nowadays I prefer the Microtel Inn across the road if I need to stay overnight near the park (not often since I live just 45 minutes away). 3) Mystic Timbers usually won't be too bad as far as wait times that early in the year. That said, ride it during ERT if you can, then ride it again after dark. Front and back seats are both good; back offers more airtime, while front offers the best view of the ride as well as the shed. I can't help you with Valravn, since I haven't been to CP since 2014. 4) Near KI, just the usual suspects. Waffle House across the road from the Super 8 and McDonald's on Kings Mills Road are both open 24 hours. There's a Taco Bell nearby, but I don't know what time their dining room closes (though the drive-through ought to be open plenty late enough). South of the park, I'm not really sure what options there would be in that direction. I know there's a Steak 'n Shake at the Fields-Ertel exit, but I've heard negative reviews of that place, so I wouldn't recommend it. Again, can't help you with CP.
  8. True. It has gotten quite rough to the point that if I'm not careful, it can leave me with a headache.
  9. As PKIVortex said, the price of the special bring-a-friend days varies from year to year, but somewhere in the vicinity of $20 is a reasonable guess until we get an official announcement.
  10. Typically you purchase the ticket at the ticket window that day. They scan your pass to confirm it's valid and hasn't exceeded the limit for the day (if there is a limit), then sell you the ticket. If the friend is paying for their own ticket, you can go to the window together and they can pay after your pass is verified.
  11. I believe you just invented this season's chant. I'm totally using that. Move over, Diamond Stack. Diamond Black is here to take your place!
  12. That article cites exactly the source I thought it would: the TEA's annual report. Those numbers are highly suspect and I would not trust them at all. As I said, Cedar Fair does NOT release actual attendance figures for individual parks. Therefore TEA's numbers are nothing more than wild guesses, since they do not have access to any hard data at all. Put bluntly, they're bull****.
  13. Also, precisely where are you getting those attendance figures? Cedar Fair does not release attendance figures for individual parks. Any such numbers floating around out there are estimates or guesses by outsiders, and are likely to be highly inaccurate.
  14. For some reason, the mental image I got from reading that post was marijuana on a charcoal grill. I'm guessing that's not what you had in mind.
  15. Last walk ever through Dinosaurs Alive? jcgoble3, starting to catch on (but not likely to use these obnoxious acronyms anytime soon)
  16. So get rid of Invertigo? I can support that.
  17. I did the timeline feature Note that this is not available in Google Maps satellite view, or even the Google Earth website accessible only in Google Chrome. For the timeline feature, you specifically need the Google Earth Pro for Desktop program. For anyone interested, that program is available here: https://www.google.com/earth/desktop/
  18. I'm pretty sure the Reds Hall of Fame Grille used to have those back when it was a table-service restaurant. I'm not sure if they still do.
  19. Hopefully tent sites. jcgoble3, not a fan of roughing it but more than willing to do so when it saves enough money
  20. Whether you have to re-process depends on whether you changed pass tiers (Gold to Platinum or vice-versa) at the time of renewal. If you did change tiers, you will have to re-process to get the correct color card. If you stayed with the same tier, no processing is required. I believe (but I may be wrong) that the season pass processing office can exchange your card for a newer card at no cost, provided you have the old card with you (if not, then there is a fee for replacing a lost pass). This can be done at the same time as photo retakes. @stashua123 or @ohiocolts ought to know for sure.
  21. Which is exactly what he did AND admitted to it in the spoiler box at the bottom of the post. In other words, it was a joke.
  22. I'm 5'6" and I do it too, because I know @Magenta Lizard's story and don't want to be featured in Part II.
  23. Holiday World beat us to that: https://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2018/02/02/podcast-dippin-dots-gal/
  24. As I said on Sunday: So yes, not having Beast on ERT is the way it should be.
  25. ^ It depends on what you define as a "seat". The motion simulator seats were removed during the 2010-2011 offseason to prepare for the upcharge dinosaur movie. Those seats, at least as of December 2011, were sitting in the backstage area between the parking lot and Planet Snoopy. I'm not sure if they've since been moved or disposed of, though I suspect they have, given the amount of time that has passed. Anyway, the removal of those seats left the theater without any true seats, just the long benches that ran the width of the theater that were behind the motion seats. So it depends on whether you consider those benches to be seats. I personally don't, but others might.
