It was explicitly said during the live announcement that there would be no roar.

Gatekeeper looks awesome! First impression: I really like how it flips upside down before you go down the first drop so that you feel like you're diving toward the ground. One of my favorite first drops on anything I've ridden is Firehawk for that reason. The keyhole elements look great as well. After not making it up there this year, I absolutely HAVE to make a trip to CP next year.

There's so much potential for them to create an amazing coaster of just about any kind with all the dips and hills. I hope we get news or hints of what's to come like they did with Dinosaurs Alive. How long before it was announced did they start doing the clues? A teaser was "leaked" on March 9, 2011 and was taken down almost immediately after being posted here (I personally suspect Don intentionally leaked it to trigger speculation here on KIC). The teaser was then re-posted on March 11, and the announcement was made on March 18. However, they played with us earlier in the winter on Facebook, using a photo of a footprint in the snow (January 28) and a drawing of the path (February 4).

Yet another great report from you! Sounds like a good day. Glad you had FUN!

The last two posts demonstrate what I consider to be the single largest problem with the current implementation of FUN Perks. The current implementation forces you to select your reward based solely on a three- or four-word description, and only AFTER you make that irrevocable choice are you shown the full details and fine print on the voucher. I understand that the program is still being tested and modified, but this IMO needs to be fixed ASAP. They need to ensure that people can know exactly what they are getting before they make a choice that can't be undone. To not do so is deceptive at best.

I have no comment on the other discussion here, but I will confirm this statement. FOF did not come to its usual complete stop at the MCBR when I rode it last Friday.
-
^ I've seen temporary fencing and bag check stations set up occasionally, but not always. There was nothing of the sort set up last Friday, though.

That's what I thought. I just checked for Saturday the 18th, a single FL pass is $70.... Wait, it's gone up again? It was $60 for a single pass on Saturday 8/4. Anyway, when we bought five FL passes on that day, two on FUN Perks coupons, the two on coupons rang up at a flat $25 (not 50% off the actual price of a single pass as the coupon claims), and then the three non-coupon purchases rang up at the then–three-pass price of $50 each. So passes purchased with the FUN Perks coupon are not counted toward the quantity discount.

Great report! I don't think there's any such thing as a bad day at HW. That rough already? It was running relatively smooth for a woodie back at the beginning of June. Pat Koch would love to hear that! I love that place also! How close are you to being eligible for your driver's license, where do you live, and what car will you be driving? I want to know so I can avoid you. I prefer raw footage. There's something to be said for just listening to the ambient sounds of an amusement park: the roar of a coaster train going by, the screams of riders, etc. That's just my preference, though.

Sounds like a good day! Two notes: 1. The Flight Deck stop could still be due to the blocking system if it was only 10 to 15 seconds. The other train may have just been slow coming off the brake run. I don't know whether the computer automatically moves the train forward or if the driver must hit a button to do so; if the latter, the driver may have simply been distracted for a few seconds. I've never seen it stop for that long, but it's short enough that at least in my mind it's still plausible it could have been the blocking system. 2. The orange Diamondback cups were only sold at the park in 2010. A different set of cups is sold each year, and AFAIK the surplus from one year is not sold the next year. If you're really attached to that design, you might be able to find one on eBay, otherwise you'll have to repair it yourself or buy a new, current cup.

^ What time did you see Backlot up yesterday? It was down every time I looked at it, but I left early.

The "guy in the green shirt" was me. Glad you had fun, and congratulations on riding Invertigo for the first time!
-
Take it with a grain of salt because 1) it's hearsay, as I did not hear the ride operator actually say that, and 2) normally ride ops will not elaborate beyond the generic "mechanical problems". However, as I said, I could personally see that the fire effects weren't working on the test trains, so that goes in favor of the guest I heard it from.

I read all the way through it. Great report! Also see my post on ohiocolts's report for today.

Glad you had fun! I wouldn't recognize him if I saw him. That's exactly what I did! If you saw someone in a green 2012 Holiwood Nights shirt, yellow shorts, and dark blue fanny pack, that was me. They ran empty trains for a while. One guest walking away mid-morning said that she was told that the ride was down because the fire effects weren't working, and I could see from observation that they were indeed not working.

Don't forget that neither Congo Falls nor the log flume have seat belts. IIRC, CP's Iron Dragon does not have them either.
-
^ I know they can do fewer than six. I know I saw occasional groups of four the first weekend of June (when the temperature was only in the 60s), and I think I might have seen a raft with only three on it. However that was with no lines. With a line, they'll obviously want to fill the whole raft.

I hardly ever use it, but here's mine: https://twitter.com/jcgoble3 (My preferences are set to send me an email every time somebody follows me, so try not to fill up my inbox. )

Is that artistic license, or did Coney Mall go back way further relative to The Racer's turnarounds than it does today? EDIT: Come to think about it, The Beast's brake shed is not too far behind The Racer's turnarounds, so it couldn't have gone back too far...

TheCrypt, I listened to that for 10 seconds and couldn't take any more without wanting to rip my hair out. I did find the song list through Google. I'll go with either "Living in Fast Forward" or "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". Probably "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". -

*looks them up* "Stronger" is rap, and Motley Crue does heavy metal. I absolutely CANNOT stand either of those genres. As for tuning it out, how are the speakers arranged? If they're set up right next to your head so that they blast it directly into your ears, then I have no chance of "tuning it out". I refuse to force myself to be subjected to such torture just to get a credit. -
But is credit due? Last time I checked, you don't get credit for an F.

Universal, SeaWorld, and BGT tips

What type of music is available? Rock, rap, blues, country? If I don't like any of the options, can I ride without music? I normally only listen to country music and usually can't stand anything else. If I have to listen to something I absolutely don't like in order to ride, then perhaps I will have to reconsider whether I want to ride it at all. -

^OK, thanks. Getting into a slightly different subject, any seat recommendations for the various coasters at these parks? -
I can see the future...100% yes! I had actually in fact never though about it while we where walking past the crypt me and my mom she said they might add a haunt. The park stated, I believe at the same time the removal of the Crypt was announced, that the building would be used for a Haunt experience.
