  1. SFGAm would be the exception because I have family in Milwaukee that I visit every summer anyway, so I'll probably be able to go there in addition to whatever I choose for this trip.
  2. You know, now that I think of it, I COULD add two days at Six Flags St. Louis or Great Adventure into the mix. Basically, I'm open to any parks that could be driven to from Cincinnati in a day. Now that I've expanded to that, I know what Terpy will be recommending.
  3. I have not been to any of the parks in question. I rode the Southern Star at Carowinds. I know all about that experience. I was there with my sister and two (female) cousins, who wanted to kill me for the rest of the day. It wasn't what I would call "pleasant" but apparently to them it was painful in ways that nobody with a Y chromosome could ever understand.
  4. I think it works better here because you do not cross the train at all. You pass the bins on your way to your seat, and again on your way out. As opposed to crossing the train to the far side of the station, then coming back and taking your seat. So then, the question becomes, why couldn't Banshee's station have been designed like this? Not that it matters that I bring this up. For better or worse, there ain't gonna be any bins and that seems to be settled.
  5. Thanks! I'm working in Loveland at the same place I worked last summer (only this time I'm a real employee, not an intern), 10 minutes from KI. So even working a full 40 hour week, I plan to continue my weekday trips to KI, just limiting them to after 5 only. I know from experience that on a good day, I can show up at 6 and ride everything I care to ride, twice. It's a nice arrangement, I must say. Oh! And to add perspective to the topic at hand, parks I've been to are KI, Cedar Point, Carowinds, Holiday World, and Kennywood. I'd like to maximize the amount of new experiences. That's why I can't decide. Canada's Wonderland has more new-to-me RIDES, but KD and BGW have more TYPES of rides I haven't experienced.
  6. This summer, I plan on travelling to at least one theme park I haven't been to and I've more or less got it narrowed down to what I want. I'm torn between: A ) Two days at Canada's Wonderland (which would require me to renew my passport) or B ) A day each at Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens Williamsburg. This summer, I can do one or the other, but not both. I will give you any information that I think may be relevant in helping me make up my mind here: I prefer wooden coasters over steel, but only marginally. In terms of steel coasters, Arrow is my favorite manufacturer with B&M in a close second. I have been to Carowinds and KI, so many of the rides at KD would be clones of other things I've ridden. And last, but not least, while quantity of coasters plays a part in my enjoyment, I would much rather have variety. Also consider that I will probably be with my dad, who is on the larger side. He didn't fit on most things last year at Cedar Point, but he did fit on all the Arrows and woodies, and he was very close on many others and he has been losing weight. He doesn't mind sitting and waiting while I ride, but I'd prefer not to make him wait up if I don't HAVE to. This is a reward from my parents for landing a job offer before I graduated college (so anyone who helped in my resume thread, thank you, it paid off)
  7. The new Flying Turns at Knoebels is technically wooden, and it has more than one lift. It is the only other wooden coaster I can think of. Depending on how nitpicky you want to be, one COULD argue that The Racer at Kennywood is one wooden coaster with two lift hills If you asked many members of the general public, they might tell you that Adventure Express is a woodie with two lifts (don't laugh, I know MANY people who think AE is a wooden coaster)
  8. They could always just close down the Chicken Shack during Haunt to make room for Slaughterhouse. Lots of places sell Chicken Tenders and you can get wings at the Reds Hall of Fame Grille (I think). It wouldn't be a HUGE loss to the park visitors. However, closing down a location that brings in money for one that doesn't (at least not in a direct or measurable way) can be a very interesting and difficult decision. There may be a handful of people who wouldn't visit Haunt if Slaughterhouse went away, but would keeping that handful of customers be worth making less money from the rest?
  9. One could argue for the contrary as well. "Stunt Crew Grill" wouldn't make much sense if Action Zone were to become something else. "Chicken Shack" is generic enough that it could be appropriately placed anywhere.
  10. If the show is disappointing, wouldn't it be appropriate to provide constructive criticism?
  11. One of my best friends and coaster buddies was killed in a car wreck on the 4th of July, 2011. They hit a tree. None of the three young men in the vehicle survived. No alcohol was involved, just teenagers being stupid. I know how that experience feels. Drive safely, everyone. You aren't invincible, and no matter where you're going, it's better to get there a little more slowly than to get there in a body bag.
  12. I personally tried to forget that movie ever happened.
  13. If you're looking for X's, I would take Mr. Strait's advice first to keep things easy. All his X's live in Texas.
  14. OK, I found it. The wording in the FAQ isn't the best. There is a place for that, but it's kinda hidden. You log in and go to the "My Progress" link on your control panel and the link is there. It does not, however, say anything about how to have checks made out. Would donors want to make them out to "Give Kids the World"?
  15. I've just noticed that there's no offline donation option for people who wish to use checks or cash... A lot of people on my "potential givers" list do not like using credit cards online, so this could be an issue.. I suppose I could just have them give me cash or a personal check and then use my own debit card to donate in their stead, but something about that doesn't feel right to me... I should get in touch with Give Kids the World about that. Anyone know the proper email address?
  16. I do Let's Play videos on YouTube (Basically narrated video walkthroughs of video games). I have a channel with over 1,500 subscribers, so I posted a little video with the link to my Coasting for Kids page, as well as a link to the main website so that anyone watching who lives near any of the 11 Cedar Fair parks can participate, too. I'm hoping that some great things come from that! Let's blow this thing up this year.
  17. I once rode Diamondback on a chilly October morning when it was 40 degrees outside. It was an unenjoyably cold experience. I can't fathom any rider having a good time at lower temperatures, whether it is able to be run at lower temperatures or not.
  18. Ohh! ooh!, Let me guess the question! I'll guess it was, "Why is a raven like a writing desk?"
  19. I think that Cedar Fair SHOULD at least buy their brakes from a Sandusky company. I mean, we all know what happens if you try to save a few bucks with the brakes from the "other guys". Obviously joking, in case it honestly needs saying.
  20. I think more amazing is the fact that it has ever BEEN in the single digits in the Carolinas during the Carowinds operating season. Unless this happened during test runs or whatever.
  21. I like the jolt. I think it adds to the theme of the ride.
  22. They are disturbing the forbidden temple... NOW THEY WILL PAY!
  23. Yes, that's it. How did you get it to look like that? My page looks like something out of the 1990s, and I can't figure out how to make it look better. Mine just looked like that by default. In your account settings, you can choose a theme but none of them look particularly good...
  24. I always wonder about those fences. I feel like they wouldn't do much to prevent a deer from getting in there. Deer basically have giant springs for legs with how well they can jump.
