  1. Oh fine... I'll share my Kings Island couple story. See, back in 2010, I was at Kings Island for the first time since my early childhood. I had recently conquered my fear of coasters, and it just so happened that my quest to ride them all led me to the girl of my dreams. We met in Coney Mall. I knew it was love at first sight. Sure, she's a bit older than me, but she was still looking fine for her age. On top of that, I noticed immediately that she was wearing my favorite shade of blue. How can I resist a nice lady with good taste in colors, right? As soon as we met, she had me head-over-heels several times over. We were together the rest of the day after that first meeting. We were even together for the fireworks that night. I've been extremely happy to have her as a part of my life ever since, except for a brief period back in July of 2011 when she didn't seem to want anything to do with me. Or anyone else for that matter. She just barricaded herself away from people and refused to do anything. I never fully understood what was the matter, but a few weeks later, it was as if nothing had ever happened and there we were, spending nearly every waking moment together whenever we were both at Kings Island. Since then, the only bad time in our relationship was when her father Ron (who had become one of my personal heroes) passed away. It's been a turbulent relationship, but I don't regret a minute of it. And that's the story of me and Vortex. -homestar92, who suddenly realizes that he probably needs a girlfriend...
  2. OK! Those cars are looking darn nice. -homestar92, saying that again.
  3. I already published my link to my Facebook and told all my friends that if they can DOUBLE my goal, I'll sit on a wheel seat all day on The Racer. I hope I for my sake I don't regret that decision. But I hope for the sake of Give Kids the World that I do regret it... When you click the sign up link, there is a button to join a team. Just click that, search for KICentral, and then finish the signup as normal.
  4. This may seem like a silly question, but how on earth so I log back in to my account after I leave the page?
  5. This will be my first year doing Coasting for Kids. Is this the URL that I'll want to share? http://support.gktw.org/site/TR/CoastingForKids/General?px=1218234&pg=personal&fr_id=1236 No, there is a $25 registration fee that you must pay. Then, raise another $75 or more and you will be able to participate in the events. Even if you don't qualify for the events, you're supporting a fantastic cause.
  6. You are probably correct, but no layperson knows right now.
  7. Bah, Captian Fantastic. Raised and regimented. Hardly a hero. Sorry, I had to. Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy is among my favorite albums ever.
  8. Ermahgerd, we need this. Are you familiar with Xbox Live Achievements and Playstation Network Trophies? Let's meta-game Kings Island this year. I will get started immediately.
  9. My goal is to have FUN, at least SIX times over.
  10. The seat on the far right will give folks a good idea of the seat belt lengths. Now the question is, are these seats in what will become row 4, or is this a different row?
  11. I loaded the home page on a school lab computer that gets all data wiped every night, and the page loads fine for me.
  12. Yeah, I probably should have used a PM, rather than posting it here. Regardless, spam posts should be avoided. If you happen to stumble upon something that doesn't work quite right, make a note of it and tell the appropriate parties (read: Dane) through a PM. No software is EVER perfect, but feedback can always improve it. If you want to spam every last feature of software in an attempt to break it, look for a job in QA. It can be a lot of fun, particularly if you are creative. The difference is, QA people work behind the scenes and nobody sees their tests. Except the people who have to rebuild the testing database because the intern (who may or may not have been me...) was testing for SQL injections and went a bit "DROP TABLE" happy. I often sent them scrambling like Jan looking for those blueprints. Good times. -homestar92, who somehow brought this back on topic.
  13. I wonder if we'll see the same sort of pavement/pavers across Oktoberfest and Action Zone. I kinda like that they are distinct. I hope that doesn't change. Unless the powers that be want to send us a sign (literally XD)
  14. People on this site need to stop posting eBay links. My wallet will thank you all. I think I typed eBay correctly. They've changed their logo, so I don't even know what's correct anymore.
  15. People assume that Banshee is a straight progression of coaster elements, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective standpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, steely-wheelie stuff. Banshee will surely be an experience that you don't want to miss for a moment. I would recommend that when riding, you don't blink. Don't even blink. After all, the ride is fast (faster than you could even believe). Plus it's almost like a memorial now that the angels have the Son of Beast. And all I can say about this diversion is that I'm sorry... I'm so sorry... -homestar92, who managed to stay (relatively) on topic and discuss one of his favorite non-coaster hobbies all at the same time in this post that he is remarkably proud of.
  16. I'm sure we could suggest more ridiculous things. I never know when to stop.
  17. I just thought of another idea. LESS FOG. As in, if I remove my glasses, I should be able to tell that something has changed in my vision.
  18. Did the seats go away at other parks? I know in 2012 Carowinds was still running Spongebob, with moving seats. I'm not sure they ever got the DA movie. I'd be interested to find out. I notice that the Action Theater page on Carowinds's website is active, much like the Thunder Alley page on KI's website. The links have just been removed.
  19. Perhaps it's only bigger on the inside. EDIT: Looks like post 800 is a Doctor Who reference. I am OK with this on every possible level. Shocking, isn't it? Are you sure you're not going to mess up any "Timey Wimey" things? I can only hope that Banshee goes ding when there's stuff. Better still if it can boil an egg at 30 paces. Hopefully there are no hens at KI if that happens though... Some coasters go ding before a train launches, so it isn't out of the question.
  20. Perhaps it's only bigger on the inside. EDIT: Looks like post 800 is a Doctor Who reference. I am OK with this on every possible level.
  21. I often point to the right when visiting X-Base with friends and say, "This is where they'd put The Bathroom. IF THEY HAD ONE!" Suddenly I have the urge to utilize photo manipulation software to create an image to correspond with this... I believe that this is now a fairly odd post. EDIT: I believe the filter broke my ability to type "bathroom" preceded by "the" without capitalizing due to its first letters being "The Bat". May want to look into that, Dane Of course, bathrooms in X-Base would be a substantial enough addition that it would be worth a trademark and capitalized name.
  22. If that were the case, they'd need a picnic area. People gotta eat after all!
  23. Dinosaurs Alive! is all a matter of target market. Most coaster enthusiasts are NOT in the target demographic for the attraction. That said, I think it is worth doing at least once, if only to see how well they did isolating it from the rest of the park (unlike some parks that placed it under a 90+MPH giga coaster...). When I walk through that attraction, it truly does feel as if I've left Kings Island. And not in a bad way.
  24. I can't think of the countless hours I'm going to spend under that roof this summer, calmly waiting behind the gates for my turn and NEVER shaking them. Only hoodlums, ruffians, yahoos, hooligans, and no-goodniks shake the gates.
  25. One time I went to the water park back in its last season as Boomerang Bay. Then I didn't go again. There are my water park memories.
