  1. Very boring compared to years past. Was the first night when I went thru it, but, was so bad that I have not been thru again. Not much effort by the scare actors. Not having the chainsaw at the end really detracts from it. May give it a go again tonight, going to use my 1/2 price Fright Lane passes.
  2. I'm sure it is because they don't want 1,000 people out in the parking lot, tailgating, going back and forth, drinking their own beer and liquor, and, repeating said process 4-5 times during the evening.
  3. At that rate, if they are cutting out the middles, and bringing big chunks down, it will be gone by the end of the year, easily. I would imagine that the main lift hill will have to wait until after haunt is over.
  4. Never been anywhere here other than the forums since I signed up, so, cannot speak to how well it is updated.
  5. I was wondering if they would carefully take it down to recycle as much as possible, or, just bash it apart. Looks like bashing is winning thus far.
  6. Was good, for the first night. Didn't get into the Crypt, by the time we worked our way back to that area at 10:30pm, we didn't feel like waiting in the line. All the rides were walk ons, which was expected. Wolf Pack - Meh. Slaughter House - Decent...not even close to years past. Had our fake chainsaw noises at the ready...didn't get to use them. Chalk it up to first night, I guess. Walked on it, don't know if I will wait come later if it is that boring. CarnEvil - Decor becoming dated quickly. Time to re-do that one for next season. Urgent Scare - The best of the night that we went thru. Cut Throat Cove - Did that in the daylight, so, no real scare factor. Noticed some really awful attempts at English accents. A few sounded Austrailian. Massacre Manor - Other than the young man who could scream and sound dead on Harry Potter, a haphazard haunt, not worth the time to wait for it. Skipped Mysteria, as last year, was god awful. Skipped Club Blood, deemed it inappropriate for my daughter. The rest, we ran out of time due to Sat morning soccer, left the park around 11pm. Had a great night walking around the park, riding rides, having a few beers, and enjoying the atmosphere. The haunts, on the other hand, were a bit disappointing. Will need to get back, and get in line early for Madame Fatales thing. Only one I wanted to do, but didn't.
  7. Would seem to me to be a serious design flaw. If the ride malfunctions, there should be a way to complete the ride cycle without a 3 hour ordeal to get down. I would say that, at first blush, this is the beginning of the end of these rides...unless something as simple as a mechanical "crank", to get folks down in 10-15 minutes, not 3 hours, can be retrofitted.
  8. Will the half off FL passes also be valid?
  9. Great idea! Both of us had two slices of LaRochas, and a couple of coneys on Sunday. Every ride was a walk on until after Noon, even then, not much of a wait to speak of. We got out a little after 1pm.
  10. Lost in all that... Buy a 2013 Gold Season Pass for just $79.99 (or Platinum Season Pass for $164) Labor Day Weekend and get entered for your chance to win great prizes. Wonder if that will be as low as they go this fall? Would be nice to know, if so, I'll pick up three this weekend. Edit - It then says Get a 2013 Gold Season Pass at the lowest price of the season of just $79.99
  11. If the moon was made of spare ribs, would you eat it? I know I would, and I'd polish it off with a nice, tall Budweiser.
  12. You might be recalling the following post from the "new fun perks feature" thread. This was based, iirc, on someone being 50% there with 5 visits and no spending, but others replied saying they were over 10 visits and not at level 2. Right...I'm at 13 visits, I have spent many nickels in the park, and am 72.10% to level 2. Methinks this Funperks is a sham...but, better than a sharp stick in the eye.
  13. I'm a whopping 72.10% to the two star level. On 13 visits no less. I must not spend enough nickels.
  14. Even outdoor speakers wear out after years and years of all day, everyday service. The music back there is painful to listen to. Either replace the speakers, or turn it way down. Simple fix.
  15. Maybe Maverick can come back to throw Goose's dog tags into the wave pool...
  16. The only CIty BBQ I have ever had the misfortune to eat from is the one in Hyde Park Plaza. Have had their food, pulled pork, beef brisket, mac and cheese/slaw on three different occasions catered here at work. An absolute waste of good money, though the first time they brought it for free for fixing their delivery van, and the other two times were banks catering for our business. The brisket you could bounce off the floor, and was devoid of any discernable flavor. The pulled pork was decent, not good, but the sauce was just sad. Kraft? Bullseye? The vinegar slaw is OK, but of all I've had, would rank it last. The mac and cheese was, by far, the most tasteless dish of that type I have ever eaten. Kraft out of the box is better. There is a place right down the street here on Madison Rd, called BBQ Revue, it puts City BBQ to shame. Not my favorite, but, the brisket is done right, the pork/chicken is moist and flavorful, and the ribs are pretty good. The thing with brisket, as you will know if you've smoked one yourself, when it is bad, it is BAD. City BBQ's, all three times, was just plain bad. So much so that I would never spend a dime of my money in there, and it is a two minute drive from my work place, I eat lunch 3 or 4 days a week out, and I am a BBQ nut.
  17. There is more than enough demo work to keep the crews busy without disturbing the currently operating rides. The demo of the SOB track near AE and FD can be done during the days that the park is closed.
  18. Just realize that these places aren't hiring the "best and the brightest". In fact, just think of how stupid the average person is, and realize that half the people you meet and deal with every day are STUPIDER than that.
  19. Been told to visit Fat Matt's, but have yet to make the pit stop on my way thru. Perhaps this spring I will have the time, and be coming thru Hotlanta at the right time of day. I just can't fathom the idea of getting off the highway there. How anyone that lives there can deal with that traffic on a daily basis is beyond me. I would either have to take public transportation, or shoot someone on the highway.
  20. If you think City BBQ is good BBQ, than you simply have never had GOOD BBQ. The food I make in my backyard is far superior. CIty BBQ is bland, rubbery, and lacks all the mainstays of quality BBQ. Smoke rings. Homemade sauce. Their sauce is bottle sauce, their mac and cheese is frozen. I make my own ribs, brisket, pork shoulder, mac and cheese, my homemade sauce is still ever changing, but getting close to perfection. BBQ is subjective, but subjective or not, City BBQ is the most flavorless one will ever taste. Then again, folks still go to Applebees, Fridays, and the like, which are all cesspools.
  21. I have a 7 dollar Vortex t-shirt that I bought a few weeks ago. My daughter, on the other hand...Diamondback t-shirt, Diamondback hoodie, Vortex t-shirt, ride warriors t-shirt, couple of posters, a chicken hat, a towel, and other crap I'm forgetting.
