  1. There are a few more images that can be found over at ... http://photobucket.com/cp2011kingsr
  2. Now that it is the off season, and there is no more riding coasters and eating elephant ears, I have time for my other hobby: digitally developing all of the images I have taken this summer. This past weekend i finally was able to get to my Opening day pictures. I am going to go ahead and post some of the pictures I took, and later this week I will add the events of the day, which was maybe one of my most memorable days at Cedar Point. Hope everyone enjoys the pictures, and be sure to check back later for the TR. (This ladder has special significance to Mrs. Kingsrattler and I that I will explain in my trip report later.) You have to love Cedar Point's Midway Arcade Coaster's Fries sign was having some issues Everyone decided they wanted to groove along with the Johnny Rockets crew
  3. Kings Island should bring back the skyride in the form of US Thrill Rides' SkyQuest (what is going in at the Indianapolis Zoo)
  4. ^ But, Cedar Fair has brought us Firehawk and Diamondback (well and WindSeeker if we want to throw that into the mix). Diamondback is definitely a signature attraction, and will be for years to come. Firehawk, well it could be argued either way. WindSeeker may not be a signature attraction, but it is definitely a spectacle to see, especially at night.
  5. I couldn't agree more with this. The biggest thing the future CEO brings is finance experience in the amusement park industry. Something that past CEO's have lacked. I perceive a future CEO who is not going to delve so much in the day to day operations, but will be bigger picture guy, a vast difference from the current situation. Not to say one completely benefits over the other, I for one, am young in my years of experience to make a judgement. But I can't help to be excited to see a different model being used at one of my favorite park chains.
  6. This is definitely one of the better sets (not that any of them have been bad). I never realized that Surf Dog was right on the edge of the park like that. Guess I never really paid much attention. To look at the first picture, it seems amazing they were able to squeeze the First Aid Add-on in there. Thanks again kind sir!
  7. I just wonder what the attendance will be like the next couple years, knowing that in 2015, Harry Potter will be there. Will people thinking about a trip to Universal, put it off a couple years in order to be able to experience "it" also?
  8. ^ and ^^ Maybe the costs of "refurbishment (see upkeep costs)" was getting the better of the ride, and it is costing more to maintain than seems appropriate to keep it open.
  9. I agree 100 percent, and do not bash them at all for doing it. It's a great and enchanting world, and I can see why they would want more people to enjoy it. Best of luck to Universal, for I do love their parks.
  10. A great financial decision? Most definately. I can not disagree with this decision at all. Will it make as much (if not more with it being on the west coast) of a killing as the one in Orlando. You can bet on it. I love seeing amusement parks expand. And, I, for one have been a strong supporter of Cedar Fair's carbon copying lately of WindSeeker, etc. But this, to me, seems to kill the magic of being " The World of Harry Potter" because its not "the" anymore, its just "a world of Harry Potter". Don't get me wrong, it was a wise decision, and will reap benefits for Universal. But in my little selfish "fantasy world", the magic is ruined with two Wizarding Worlds of Harry Potter.
  11. While Mrs. Kingsrattler and I really enjoyed Jaws, I have to agree with GYK that it is an outdated movie, with outdated technology. Universal was created to show the magic and technology behind movies in an enchanting form of rides. Compared to the technology used in movies today, the Jaws ride is nothing magical, and I suspect Universal has a very good idea what to do with the land area.
  12. ^Maybe it wasn't known as a tunnel back then, therefore wouldn't need to be "tunnel'ish"
  13. ^In the early 90's, you could have probably come close to being able to list all the domains on the entire internet. Having Mot.com would have been no big deal.
  14. ^ Definitely had to just look up sundry. Read enough posts by terp, your vocabulary will double in size.
  15. ^ I am willing to pay to stand in the cold and see Christmas lights if it also involves seeing komodo dragons, elephants, and the sort. (Festival of Lights at the Zoo)
  16. Come on, who doesn't want to win a giant tortoise by playing bank - a - ball?
  17. GYK, the part where you basically said King's Island had nothing other than rides, all the Beach has is Water slides and a wave pool Very comparable.
  18. ^ Kind of like The Beach, and "sledding" down a water slide?
  19. A park I'm somewhat surprised that they don't have a winter event, is a park that calls Santa Claus home.
  20. This is like a double.. we got four pictures today! I believe I have some free time this weekend to go through my Cedar Point and Kings Island pics from this season, and get some posted. Be looking for them standbyme
  21. Some of those trees have really grown up. For me its hart to imagine that The Racer used to be the edge of the park. Thanks again standbyme.
