^500 foot ozone coaster?
-
If anything, under the new management, I could see them opening earlier, but not any later. But what do I know? Well quite a bit actually, but nothing pertaining to the mind of the new CEO to be.
-
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. If anything can be said nice about the 2011 picture, asphalt was replaced with (aging) pavers. Thanks, Standbyme!

It's nice to see your work getting recognized standbyme Nothing like spreading the King Island love around to more eyes.

First was Behemoth, than came Diamondback

Is that The Beast, or Son of Beast, or just some non descript roller coaster, around the 20 second mark? -

It is a very thrilling ride.. to someone who is not an enthusiast, who doesn't think going 300 feet in the air while spinning is natural. I went with some people from my small group at church to Cedar Point this last year, and they had no problem riding all of the roller coasters (sans Top Thrill Dragster) but were freaked out from the time they saw, through the time they rode, and from the time they got off of WindSeeker. -

I think everyone is putting way to much bushels into the basket of " the new ceo is going to bring theming to the nth power". Just because he came from Disney, which is a highly themed park, does not mean that is what his plans are. For all we know, he may not even like all the theming at Disneyland. He's a financial guy, that's why he was brought on board. Since 2006, he has been working in non amusement park companies. To think he will better Cedar Fair because of his financial and business prowess is a safe bet. To bet on him being a theming genius on the other hand is a little risky. -

^ Because 2007 was such a long time ago. -
I would have loved to have been around when you were taking that picture. I can just see some child, "Mommy, why is he taking a picture of a pole?" This might be the first picture I have ever seen of the Keelboats. That does look like a lot of fun. Thanks once again standbyme.

I love the fountain. It's such an awe-inspiring entrance for a park between the fountain and the Eiffel Tower. I don't really think there is any park that captures that magic of an amusement park when you enter the way Kings Island (and by default, Kings Dominion) does. As a side note, I'm guessing back in 1974 the women's restroom was split in two, as the building that houses the Men's restroom does not exist? That's one of my favorite parts of your pictures is finding the things that are not like the other, but that blend in so well.

Cedar Point Woodcarver

I have spent many hours this year, just sitting and watching Mr. Koerner carve. He is magnificent, and a joy to watch and talk to. -
^ My main reasoning for liking shorter url's is our mobile centric world now. The less typing i have to do on my touch screen the better. Even if i go to google, I still have to type out "Kings Island", where as ki.com is three button presses (for those wondering my phone has a ".com" button)
-
^ And who doesn't love some graeters ice cream? Thanks for the picture. Its amazing to see how similar, but how different a building can be over the years.
-
I think ki.com would be perfect. The shorter the url the better.

^In which lies the problem why i'm so uncomfortable on the b & m version. I spend so much time pushing up with my legs my calves and knees hurt afterward, which is a very unenjoyable experience when you have to walk around for another 8 hours.
-
^ Thanks for the info! And sans a few that live in India, what we think of as lions do not actually live in a "Jungle" They live in plains and grasslands
-
^ and ^^^ I've always wondered (going to show my age, or lack thereof) were King Cobra's seats more comfortable than b&m's man-hating seats? I wasn't tall enough to ride it before it go removed
-
You mean this thread is better than the flavor of the month "insert ride here*" thread? *Names and places are left out to protect the integrity of the thread.

^ I also looks like the trees along the southern fence line towards Stunt Grill are also the same trees, all grown up. On another note, was TimberWolf alive back then?

Great Coasters announces Big Fun

Shoot, at 3 million, why doesn't Cedar Fair just put one in every park. Seems like a successful ploy so far. -
^ Thanks Hendrick! I think my favorite thing about that pic, is once again, seeing the age of the rocks, and how much they have weathered.
-
Thanks once again standbyme ( and I'm sure I will be saying it again!) As for things in the park that are still original, there are some areas of wood on The Racer that still look original, haha. Namely, standing in line for WindSeeker, above the old Action Theater Entrance, one of the flex points has two pieces of wood that just slap together as the coaster goes over that part of the track.
-
^ That display for Adventure Express is awesome! I also wouldn't mind seeing something like this in the park. Maybe, if we cross our fingers, the new entrance to Soak City will have something of this stature.
-
But yet it still looks like the tower. What does that say about France? haha. Thanks once again for the pictures.
