What’s one practical attraction you wouldn’t mind having two of?
rlentless replied to SonofBaconator's topic in KI Polls
I guess it's not "too practical" but I would love to see the train go more around the entire park instead of just the back. Something that would serve to move the GP from one side of the park to the other like the SkyRide use to. Even go by the front gate somehow without disrupting IS. Something more practical is the return of "The Rotor". I loved that ride as a kid but my 50+ year old body probably would not like it more than once a year now. -
I know this is an unpopular opinion. While KI has a world class line of roller coasters and Orion fits that category. We were just not going to get something the exceeded MF. Sorry, it is just how I see it . . right or wrong.

What is the meaning of name Craig? rock, rocky Origin:Scottish. Meaning:rock, rocky. Craig is a masculine name of Scottish, Gaelic, and Welsh origins. Coming from the Gaelic word creag, this name translates to “rock” or “rocky.” It also comes from the word “crag,” which describes a steep, rugged cliff that makes for a stunning sight on the Scottish coast.

What ride did KI make the biggest mistake in getting ride of
rlentless replied to Beasttamer's topic in KI Polls
I definitely agree with the Swan Lake removal . . although I love Diamondback. So I thought the return of Swan Lake in The Vortex spot would be nice. Theming with a flat or two, restaurant, shops like they have done with Adventure Port. Not sure of the theming but something to match Rivertown. Then concentrate the next new coaster to be in front with the replacement of Invertigo, Congo Falls, etc if they are close to retirement. Trust me I'd love to have a new coaster in The Vortex spot. But I think some year soon that Invertigo will not pass inspection and be SBNO. I don't think they can build two coasters in both The Vortex and Invertigo spots quickly. Then we'll be looking at another empty area for a few years again. -
Just gotta say I was able to visit the park on Friday for my first time this year. Obviously I missed the opening of a couple rides this weekend. Got to see Drop Tower start new cycles late in day. But I really love all the updates done so far. The park looks great and I lover the atmosphere. Cannot wait until everything opens up and the remaining theming is complete . . referring to Adventure Port. But just all areas of the park look great. Had the Pub Burger at the Brewhouse and it was very good. Stayed away from Grain and Grill until those issues iron out from comments here on KIC. But love the new updated street front of that building. I know some may disagree but I think the next theming upgrade should be the kids area. Starting to look a little dated . . just my opinion. I do not have small kids anymore so great stake on my part. We mostly go there because my wife likes buying all things Snoopy in the Boutique over there. I want to support the park in buying food and merchandise. Love my home park.

If the budget had to go into theming, then I am fine with the 24-seater. Maybe they expect lines to be lower after the initial opening. Plus we do know how much of the budget is going to AE. I am anxious to see what improvements they made with it.

I had thought we already decided or confirmed months ago it was the 48-seat model. I just really hope the article listed above was a misquote. KI always installed the larger people eater rides in the past. Like our giant spinner that pulled itself apart.

I just hope they all stay open until a definitive plan is in place for their replacements. Otherwise, as others have said, it will just be an empty lot (or bldg.-Crypt) for several seasons. Who wants to walk around and see empty lots and buildings? I wish we can fill in the somewhat empty spaces behind ET. Doesn’t have to be rides but just trees and vegetation.

Trade Backlot Stunt Coaster to Carolwinds for Mountain Gliders (aka Flying Eagles).

How would a ride pass system work? Meaning when someone enters the Orion line for example, they have to scan their season pass or daily ride pass. The system knows based on amount of people in line, it takes 45 minutes. So at the point you enter the loading area you have to scan your ride pass again. If it says you been in line for 10 minutes, then you line jumped and removed from the line. I understand there can be many exceptions. But if people know their time in line is being monitored, they will less likely line jump. The first ride pass is free if you don't have season passes. If you lose it or need a new one, then it costs $5 or something. I have a game card in my wallet to load more money on it when I want. So it should not be too much of problem creating ride passes. Not every ride would need it. Just a thought.

Didn't get to go this weekend but did anyone notice a huge difference with parking lot? Nicer??

Is it pressure treated wood? If so, painting it too soon can actually cause the boards to warp, plus you run the risk of major paint adhesion issues. After a few months, give it the tried and true moisture test. Dribble some water on the surface, and if it soaks right in the wood is ready to coat.

I think the moved the camera up to get the entire Eiffel Tower in view.
-
Yes, I hope it is a fountain too. KI bring back more water features.

I agree with the "shooting" aspect. If it is a secondary dark ride in the park, then fine let us shoot at things. But the main dark ride should just be a 'ride'.
-
Wasn't this the same camera we had from a weather or news channel a couple of years ago? When Orion was being built?

It's a huge investment in those building just to tear them down. But I agree something should be done with them. I always wonder what the decision makers in their "War Room" (planning) of what ideas come up to do with them. If anything ever came close to happening.

Ride operators (and other KI employees), thanks for making the experience a great one for the GP.

Looking forward to the new season and seeing changes they made. It goes by quick so enjoy every moment, even if things aren't exactly right. They have new team members and crews but things will iron out. We are very lucky to have a world class amusement park like Kings Island so close to home.

Kings Island fandom page says it was remodeled in 1986. https://visitkingsisland.fandom.com/wiki/Dodgem

It seemed to have happened in 2001 when the over the shoulder restraints were replaced with lap bar restraints. Not 100% sure on this.

Let's put it in the TRTR building.
