Which of these discontinued/extinct coaster styles would you like to see come back with modern technology? Which modern manufacturers is best suited to build a defunct one’s models. I got this list from Airtime Thrills YouTube page but thought it would interesting to see KIC members take on it. Would any work in The Vortex spot? Arrow - Suspended Chance Rides - Toboggan Intamin - Accelerator (Hydraulic Launch) more intense than LSM Intamin – Pre-Fabricated Woodie Intamin - Space Diver Intamin - Suspended Catapult Intamin - Swiss Bob Intamin - Wing Rider Morgan - Hyper Coaster (Superman) Schwarzkopf - Compact Multi Looper S&S - Woodies (should they try again??) TOGO - Ultra Twister TOGO - Looping Mouse Zierer - Launch Tower Coaster

Well I am jealous you got so many rides. Back then I couldn't drive yet and didn't have season passes. So my only opportunities was with youth group or family day outings. I got to ride it once and then it shutdown that day. All other times the ride was down the whole day. Actually I do not remember when season passes started. I started getting mine in the mid-90's after getting married.

King Cobra was a big hit when it first came out. But since it lasted several years and you got to ride every year over that time, the novelty wore out. Where with the The Bat you almost feel like one of the lucky ones to have ridden it just once. And survived!! The wild swinging was fun and just something totally different being suspended. If I remember right they blamed inferior steel for dismantling King Cobra. Or maybe they just wanted room for Action Zone. I know there's a whole thread somewhere about why KC got removed. I missed the old theming of that area but loved the new rides they put in.

I didn't mean to make light of a situation like that, I really thought it was just kids talking. Had to be very frightening to those riders and I hope nobody was hurt.

The Bat lore lives on. Always heard the story from "someone" who knew "someone" that rode The Bat and then the front car fell off. That's why it was always closed.

Little bit of sad news is that Robbie Knievel passed away back in January.

Am I going to far out on a limb to say I think they should just incorporate The Viking Ship into the Adventure Port area? Give it a matching paint job and update the queue then call it the Pirate Ship or something. I would guest if there are cargo ships, then there are pirate ships.

Backlot Stunt Coaster Special Effects Removed
rlentless replied to Italian Job 2005's topic in Kings Island
Honestly, I don't believe it will be removed and relocated until it meets EOL. So maybe just surround it with trees and vegetation so we cannot really see it unless you're in front of it or in line. idk I don't remember why Paramount decided to place it there. They just wanted a coaster to match their movie and had this big piece of land without having to expand the park. Or some other grand Paramount scheme never completed. It is a fun ride and I enjoy it, it's just somewhat misplaced. I am still mad that Carolwinds got out glider ride though. -
Kings Island is recruiting hard at the area schools this week. Maybe they did this in the past but I just don't remember it. The article says they will hire students on the spot. Kings Island hosts job fair on-site, will be at area high schools all week https://www.journal-news.com/news/kings-island-hosts-job-fair-on-site-will-be-at-area-high-schools-all-week/C6UYMIGAMNAR7OHVW64NNAZGWY/

Just asking . . I am not close enough to be "in the know" for Coney Island. I would love to see all the rides come back. But is the new business model profitable? Was the ride maintenance and employees a money pit for the bottom line? I am sure it was more than just ride operators, some other staff would have been let go too to cut costs. I truly miss the idea of going down and walking around the old park. Seeing the sites and sounds of people enjoying a full lineup at the park.

Ohio Has A Brand New Theme Park With Roller Coasters, Rides, And Restaurants Yes, a little bait-in-switch here. I saw this headline in Facebook thinking a new amusement park was coming. But to find out they are talking about "Adventure Port" at KI. Gotta say I am excited about this new themed area and anticipating a home-run by the park. https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/ohio/brand-new-attraction-oh/

If I had my way I would pick building a new attraction in The Vortex spot. It would just make a nice backdrop for the park. I would like a multi-launch coaster but a huge RMC would look good back there. I just like seeing large Woodies and still miss the huge drop hill of SOB . . but not the painful ride experience. It just sat there looking ominous over the park when you came in. That being said I would like a new coaster and revamp of AZ too. I cannot put my finger on it but the whole area just feels disjointed to me – idk doesn’t make sense. Then The Vortex site could be the return of Swan Lake, trees, walking path, sit-down restaurant similar to the Outpost at KD.

Because I like water features, I always wished the park went up to the Little Miami River. Not sure how much of the houses you would see on the other side, guess it depends on how high is the ride. But I envisioned something like ziplines, walking trails, maybe even horse rides. I know it's silliness for CF parks but I would like it.

I just hope we do not have to look at empty spots where Invertigo, Congo Falls or The Bat now sit . . Drop Tower too. What is the longevity of those type of rides? Because now we have to look at an empty lot where Vortex sat until something new comes along. That one seemed to happen before the park had planned. My guess they found fixing the support structure was just too cost prohibitive. I just don't want to see anything removed until there is a replacement plan.

Just curious where do they take roller coasters and other rides for off season maintenance. As a casual observer I see they have buildings 1) up front by the gate, where they also have offices, merchandise warehouses, maint bldg’s?? 2) Buildings behind The Racer. 3) Buildings housing the trains. Not sure if anything else is maintained back there. Do coasters go to one area or do they maintain them by proximity? Does each coaster have it’s own building, or do they share the same building? Does the same crew do all the maint? Or do the specialize in woodies vs steel vs flats. Some of my favorite KI pictures or videos is seeing the off season maintenance of techs breaking down rides and rebuilding them. That would be an awesome off-season tour to see the maint buildings.

A City Walk area like at Universal.

Racer apparently getting more track work done this offseason
rlentless replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Great news . . happy to see the The Racer continue getting more love. -
I remember looking at the compass was one of favorite parts of riding the Skyride. I was a strange kid.

Bring back the "Enchanted Voyage". Seriously I know that would never happen. I just wish we can bring back more water features to the park. I feel like we have lost so many over the years and I know that sounds strange since we have a huge fountain in the front entrance.

I know alot of people would say not to disturb the sanctity of The Beast. But I would love a skyride going back in the woods and even go over part of The Beast would be great. That also takes away from using the skyride to get from one end the park to the other. But hey, the skyride at Lesourdsville Lake just took you over the lake and back and it was fun.

Adventure Express Enhanced - What do you want to see?
rlentless replied to beastfan11's topic in Coming Attractions
I would love for the mist to come back but I thought they removed it because it prematurely rusted out track. I guess they can use non-misting type of foggers but not sure how cost effective it would be for the long term. I love AE but I remember the year it opened and I went to ride the new coaster that year. I was loving every moment and then the final lift hill, the music, the statues with the arms swinging, the lava being dumped on the train. I think they even had droplets of water dripping on you (not sure about that one). The doors opened and I thought with this huge buildup we would be dropped in a deep dark tunnel or something. But no, the just opened back to the queue line. I thought "What the crap, that's it"!! Like I said I love the ride, rode it dozens of times. Just that first time I was expecting something amazing after the final lift hill. -

I think we will get the 48 person version like this one. -
Kings Island Announces Adventure Port for 2023
rlentless replied to Coasterteam's topic in Kings Island
Whatever coaster design is chosen it will be an already proven, reliable people eater. When Terp was still on the forum and Banshee was announced, he felt it some of KI's criteria going forward. I think by what we have seen that is still true today.
