  1. If Ty's not on the site anymore, I'll add for 2013. 2013: Two new mazes, a scare zone and a show were added this year. Board to Death: (Coney Mall Arcade) A board-game themed maze with lots of blood. board by Diamondbacker, on Flickr Delta Delta Die: (Coney Mall, next to Dodgems) A sorority themed maze where the girls are out to get you. Backwoods Bayou: (Between Diamondback and Backlot Stunt Coaster) A fright zone themed to New Orleans and the Swamp. Ed Alonzo's Psycho Circus of Magic & Mayhem: (Kings Island Theater) A Halloween remix of the regular season show. Also new is the Scream Like a Banshee contest, where on Friday nights parkgoers will be challenged to scream their loudest for a chance to win Banshee Media Day Passes and a trip to Knotts' Berry Farm in Los Angeles, CA. Returning Attractions: Wolf Pack, Club Blood, Slaughter House, Urgent Scare, CornStalkers, Madame Fatale's Cavern of Terror, Tombstone Terror-Tory, Holiday Horror, CarnEvil, Freak Street, Cemetery Drive, Nightmare Alley, Graveyard Shift, Hot Blooded, Blood Drums. Cut-Throat Cove, Massacre Manor, Mysteria and Madame Fatale's Dead Inn Feast did not return.
  2. I'd assume they'd want a woman to win the contest, since the Banshee is technically supposed to be a woman... That would be just weird for a guy to be in alot of makeup and costuming to look like a Banshee.
  3. I'm really excited for Haunt this year. I hope to hit all of the mazes I didn't do last year: Club Blood, Urgent Scare, Holiday Horror and CarnEvil. The new maze that I'm most excited about is the Board to Death. Delta Delta Die looks like it's just another Club Blood type of thing, but I'm definitely willing to try it!
  4. Kyle on The Beast, give him a raise, man! He was great on and off mic. Invertigo's crew is just lazy and unenthused. Diamondback's crew is really nice (spent an hour in the station with them during rain on announcement day), but they could be more efficient.
  5. I only have a few that differ from things already brought up: Adventure Express: move the spears in the first tunnel again. I thought they used to move, at least. Also, maybe some of the track can be redone. It's getting a bit rough on some of the turns. Racer: I don't know how much they could do with the queue, but I don't like seeing one half of the queue not being used. Flight Deck: Re-open the museum under the station. It would be a nice break between coasters. Invertigo: As the train goes up the second hill, I would love for it to stop a few seconds, just to build suspense.
  6. Has there been anything saying slingshot was leaving? Just asking, because there was some speculation for it leaving because it didn't make it into the ride renderings. When I was looking at the webcam earlier compared to the renderings I thought that it was in the way of Banshee's first drop.
  7. Looks like the final brake run is almost finished. Any word yet on Slingshot's status for next year?
  8. Those 6 people don't want to look to the future, they want to stay in the past. KI absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one, and the SOB crumbling shown in the teaser perfectly symbolizes what this new ride will do to the stain of that mess. This is perfect for KI, and I don't think many people have noticed how the theme relates to Kings Island, which makes it even more unique. This ride will be great, but I hope they keep some of the Celtic gravestones and fog and use them as theming for Banshee. Also, right as you start to drop from the first hill they should play that screech. Now THAT would be awesome.
  9. I was just so happy with everything tonight. The announcement and all of the different videos and pictures were so amazing. I really love how they updated old Banshee logo and gave the name a Kings Island twist by making it based of off Missouri Jane. Here's to a packed Action Zone in 2014! This ride will be nothing short of awesome. But if that screech is going to be in the new advertisements for the ride, I'm going to be freaked out everytime I hear it.
  10. Weighing in on this: I think that by renaming Flight Deck to The Bat, there would be be a merchandise boom, it could go really nicely with the Banshee, and repainting it bright orange and black would go well with the new bright color scheme that has seemed to take place in Action Zone with Invertigo and now Banshee. Maybe a possible renaming of the area to something like Adventure Village.
  11. He said wing guys, that's definitely why it's gonna be a wing coaster named The Bat and you'll all be wrong! This post is filled with sarcasm, just so you know. When have I ever said that it was a wing coaster named The Bat? I was merely reporting what Greg posted via Twitter. Is that a crime? Just because you don't believe that it's going to be a wing coaster named "The Bat" doesn't mean that others believe the same way some of you do on here. Numerous people have posted here with quotes from the park's twitter and yet that's okay, but I post what Greg said and it's not? Makes total sense. Forgive me for sharing something that I saw in relation to the announcement tomorrow. Forgive me for sharing something I found humorous. I'm so sorry that I interrupted the decoding in a way that you didn't like. I'm not really sorry. I'm sorry about that, I was trying to make a joke. I didn't mean to come out like that. I thought the tweet was funny too. I don't want to ruffle any feathers. I'm just trying to keep this lighthearted. Let's all be friends.
  12. I voted for Banshee. I'm really just excited that we will have a coaster in AZ that will be giving great rides for years and years to come! I must say though, that logo for "The Bat" that was posted was pretty neat. Hopefully it can find some use in the future.

  14. I'm still astonished this topic beat the epic SoB topic. This topic devoured the SOB topic and still has room for dessert!
  15. That's strange. I just did that on my iPad and it did the same thing.
  16. My viewpoint on this recent issue is best displayed by this quote from this user. During the offseason, we become like a family, a big group of coaster lovers that comes here to have fun and talk with friends, some who they have never even met. During the summer, more people start getting active on the site and we become separated. That's why we meet up during the summer, because we all want to get away from our computer screens and meet the people that we've been sharing laughs with all winter. I have stepped away from the screen mostly during the two summers that I've been active on KIC because of this same reason.(This summer was somewhat different, as I was really tired of the overloading of the 2014 thread.) Everyone on here has had a few mishaps, but it's just part of becoming a tenured forum user. So don't fear, my friends: we have great moderators and awesome people here at KIC, and we should be proud of that. I'm really excited to meet you guys on Thursday!
  17. I know that I'm about 20 pages late on The Bat topic, but did anyone else notice that Don tweeted about The Bat like 2 weeks ago? Looking back, it was an interesting diversion. https://twitter.com/KingsIslandPR/status/361536368184279041
  18. Hey gang, After a two-month forum hiatus (You know, summer can get in the way of a person's forums use), I'm back with a nice Photo Trip Report. I went with my school's Glee Club to Austria and Italy this past June, and took about 300 pictures with a subpar phone camera. I hope you enjoy? http://www.flickr.com/photos/76097690@N03/sets/72157634287348276/ Here's a few previews: IMG_20130611_124708 by Diamondbacker, on Flickr IMG_20130618_124130 by Diamondbacker, on Flickr IMG_20130619_162036 by Diamondbacker, on Flickr I hope you enjoy! Here's a full report of all of the things that our group did: http://eldergleeclub.wordpress.com/ We went to Graz, Corinthia, Florence,Venice, Montecatini and Rome. What a big trip! P.S: Has anyone else just stopped reading the 2014 forum? I couldn't believe the amount of pages in that thread, with most of it being hopeless speculation and "clues". I'm going to try and actually wait for the announcement for once in my life. It will be interesting!
  19. I could do the Ferris wheels, but if it really was THAT, then I would get a littly queasy.
  20. The ride ops on Beast last Saturday looked like they were having no fun at all. I tried to give one of them a high five, and he grunted at me. I wished a good day to another, and he sarcastically said, "You too." Maybe they were all out late Friday night?
  21. Today marks one month until the end of Hart's extended walk-away period. Seeing that it's been more than a month since we've seen any signs of life at all from Hart, I'd say that the project is on its deathbed and barely surviving on life support. He has to decide if he wants to stay onboard or abandon ship. If this falls through, it's a loss for the community of Louisville and Lexington. When I was at KI on Saturday, I saw so many people wearing Louisville Cardinals or Kentucky Wildcats gear. Now, this doesn't mean all of those people are traveling from Kentucky, but what an inconvenience to travel two hours to the closest amusement park. In its heyday, KK was almost competing with KI for guests. KK was never KI at any point in its lifetime, but a park with high-caliber rides and a good waterpark passed for entertainment in that market. When the Hellevator incident happened, though, the park's stature made a rapid decline, eventually leading to SIX's ride removal and departure from the land. The Project is a very long shot. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what June 27 brings us.
  22. I believe souvenir cups are one of the very few items that can be left in the station on Firehawk (the others being flip-flops and prescription glasses). Maybe it changed for this year? I'm not sure, but the employee at the front of the line told me this. Maybe he was misinformed. "The customer is never wrong, but not always right."
  23. I LOOOVE me some orange chicken at Panda Express in the Festhaus.
  24. Wow, what a great day! I rode a good amount of rides for such a heavy crowd, and I made some new memories! I went to Beast first, and I was glad to hear it roar once again. Then we went to Rivertown Pizza to say hi to my friend who was working. After that, we rode Vortex, Adventure Express, Flight Deck, then Invertigo happened. We had to wait two hours, with most of the time coming from the train breaking down and letting all of the Fast Laners who had lined up cut in front after it was back and running. We were able to hit the Reds Grille in time to watch the top of the 9th, and our service and food were very good. He made a few minor mistakes but was very apologetic and thanked us for being so nice to him. (He earned a nice tip.) After this, we tried FoF, but the line was 2 hours long, even though the outer part of the queue wasn't filled. We were going to get on Firehawk, but I didn't want to pay for the locker to put my souvenir cup in. We just went to DB and waited a good long time for a great ride through the drizzling rain. It was so much fun. One thing I wanted to talk about was all of the weird things I saw today. There was a good amount of children there tonight, but most of them were middle schoolers with iPhones and their friends. I even saw one middle school "couple" holding up the DB line by macking on each other. I rudely clapped in their ears to get them moving, as there was about 30 feet of open space in front of them. I know my actions were rude, but really? Come on now, you're barely 13. Also, there was a short pause today in Boo Blasters. During that pause, I noticed that some of the props used in the attraction are timed to the music. It was creeeeepy... I also sang 'Happy Birthday' not once, not twice, but three times today. One was in the Reds Grille for a boy's 13th birthday, and the other two were led by a loud 18-year old for people in the DB line. I saw more sweatshirts than swimsuits, let's just say that.
  25. We're leaving now after a great night ride in drizzling rain on DB. We had an interesting wait, though, as a guy in line was giving high fives and leading the crowd in singing happy birthday to the birthday people in line. What a great day! In depth summary to come later.
