Yes!!! I have wanted this for a while. It would certainly make the coaster more enjoyable (though for some reason, I've really started to gravitate towards BLSC this season...)
-
Speaking of which, I got curious and found this video... That looks super awesome (which LOTS of spinning!), but today we have similar spinning coasters like Spinning Wild Mice or Gerstlauer's spinning coaster.

Ok. I actually did not know that blocking was the only reason the lift slows (I literally thought it was for anticipation purposes first and blocking second* lol). Thanks for the info! And though I have seen a train on the second lift (or going down the second big drop) while ascending the first, I didn't pay much attention to the timing; I'll do so next time I ride. *I have been stopped on the lift before, so I knew it had something to do with blocking, just didn't know it was the only reason...

I understand lift hills do slow down and speed up due to block sections, but is this (only) reason why the first lift slows down all the time? I thought it was primarily to build suspense and anticipation...

Oh yeah, and then wasn't there one about the (potato) burger buns too? I feel like these short featurettes may be back to back. Speaking of food on FunTV, I really like the LaRosas's 50th spot. I think I did it's job when I was at the park a few weeks ago as I got some breadsticks before getting in line for Beast lol!

Berlin and A Flock of Seagulls Perform at KI
MDMC01 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I was at the Skillet show and it was awesome! They played a good mix of older stuff (oldest songs were from the Comatose era, and they played a surprising amount of that!) and the new stuff and did a good job bouncing between eras (though their last 3 albums are all newer to me, so...). Though I really wish they'd include some of their really old stuff (or just have "throwback shows" that play the oldies (Collide and earlier)), I did appreciate the diverse selection of songs from each album. I especially enjoyed hearing a few songs from Rise (including the title track as the second song on the setlist after opening with "Whispers in the Dark"!) as I've come to really enjoy that CD since re-listening to it last week. Also, I thought they'd have more songs from Victorious since that concert cycle may have been impacted by the pandemic (Victorious came out in 2019) and they only played two songs from Dominion as well. However, that one released this year, so I'd give it time before they put more of those songs on the setlist. Only disappointing thing (IMO) is all the guitar solos. Yes, the crowd went crazy, but I feel it got old quick and the parts where everyone rocked out together made it feel like just about every song was their last. Also, I realized I'm just not that into their song "Monster" anymore... Finally, I bought a t-shirt (did you know those Timberwolf Concert shirts are printed on-site?) and a CD/book combo (to get Dominion, you had to buy the book too) because, to quote myself: "I need some new Skillet in my life". If you'd like, you can see their setlist here: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/skillet/2022/timberwolf-amphitheater-mason-oh-43b2e33f.html -
Blog: Identical twins share Phantom Theater bond
MDMC01 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
That's a cool article! I've seen them quite a few times at the (Kings Island) Theatre over the past few years for Cirque and also ran into them once before Phantom this season. -
What is on your Made to Thrill poster wish list?
MDMC01 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
That'd be interesting! It's Fried! and St. Funnel were my first locations for my first job at the park. -

I second the above; I would love to have a King Cobra poster! Also, a Haunt poster representing all the major Haunts over the years (Slaughterhouse, Trail of Terror, Chaos, Urgent Scare, etc.), would be cool. -
Lost Island’s Suspicious Coaster Logo
MDMC01 replied to ThrillKingsFitzy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes, but I agree the logo is suspiciously similar (except it's green)... Upon another glance, it seems different enough, but also similar (especially the track that is the logo's tongue) -
Article: Twins star in Off the Rails at Kings Island
MDMC01 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Did not know they were twins... also, I did not know they used the boys' real names in the show (I always thought the "kid" actor made up a new name every show as I heard "Kayde" one show and "Liam" another show). I'm actually split between this and PT:Encore as my favorite show(s) this year. I like this show because of the high-energy "pep rally" feel and I like PT:Encore as it's something different and also Larry (the puppet Usher)! -
Finally got to ride at night with the new track and it was amazing! It seemed smoother and faster, but still had that bite to it in places. I understand why many people hold a Beast Night Ride in such high regard!

Nice! Speaking of Dippin' Dots, I am so bummed they don't have Vanilla Dippin' Dots at the park anymore. I remember I used to get them at the stand near the front gate (and I'm sure other places) like 10+ years ago and I always enjoyed them.
-
That would be great! I enjoyed Berlin and am looking forward to seeing Skillet next Saturday.
-
That is correct! Ironically, when the ride first opened, I liked the “wing seats”. I guess that interest turned to fear of falling out as I’ve gotten older (as I feel so exposed riding in the wing seats, especially on the left side). And even when I’m not in the wing seats, I think the ride is meh (especially compared to Orion!); the first half is nice, but the return trip is a bit meandering. The only reason I rode Diamondback on my last visit is because I won a Front of the Line pass lol

I've been able to enjoy this show from three different vantage points in the park (Front Gate - June 5th, Brewhouse Patio - July 3rd and in line for The Bat- this past Saturday), and I just want to say the show looks good from anywhere. Sure, the lasers and projections are visible up close, but the show does look good (so far) from different angles. Though the surrounding (rain)forest hid the drones (couldn't tell what the shape was, but I still saw the blue lights in the distance), it was really cool to be able to see a good deal of the show from The Bat's queue (actually, I feel remote the setting added to the experience!). I also got a fireworks ride, so there's that.
-
Hey @IndyGuy4KI, do you have any pictures of those "snakes"? Also, yes, I do remember how secluded White Water Canyon used to be, and I, too enjoyed the walk back there. I wish there would be some sort of nature trail put in at the park, like when we had Dinosaurs Alive (yes, there were animatronic dinosaurs, but it was also a nice nature trail). It would be really cool it if it used the old Son of Beast queue (well, the lower portion), but then split off and went under Banshee into that untamed area where Lion Country Safari used to be.
-
I was going to say... I'm assuming they are putting the second train on
-
Oh no lol
-
Not a fan of Diamondback, but good for her! I wonder when The Bat (or even Orion)'s next milestone will be?

That's a bummer the blasters are out of commission (for now). Last year, I had a blast (pun intended) using those to soak unsuspecting riders while waiting for the next showing of Busker Jam. Also, I can certainly imagine the Tower operators job is a whole lot of fun! On July 3rd, @malem and I took advantage of the midnight close to ride White Water Canyon at night. It was just the two of us, and it was pretty mild until we got to the operator tower. As we passed by, I wondered if the person was asleep. They were NOT!!! All of a sudden, the geyser on my side rises up and gets me soaked, and then the left one hits us too. I was freaking out ("Bob Saget!!!" lol), and the right one hit us again. Except for me trying to process what just happened, the ride was pretty calm after that. We came off soaked, but it was so much fun!

What was Bean Boozled?
-
I did experience a rattle once when I was sitting on the end of a row (I don't remember which train it was, but I'm pretty sure I was sitting in the back as Row 8 is my new go-to row on that ride). It wasn't headache inducing, but it was enough for me to notice it.

Berlin and A Flock of Seagulls Perform at KI
MDMC01 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Yeah, I figured. I remember Spritsong in High School their sets were a mix of Collide and Comatose (with "Best Kept Secret" as the last song that one time I saw them at The Underground) and some songs from Awake as time went on. -

Not sure, but I was there and they (Berlin) rocked! Didn't plan on going to a concert today (other than Hi-Fi Honey, which was actually the show I was intending to see before heading over to Timberwolf) but someone graciously gave me a free ticket. I was not born yet when these guys had their heyday (I came in to the Flock of Seagulls starting their last song, "I Ran" with "Anyone remember 1982?" and I was thinking "I wasn't even born yet!" ), but I rocked out just the same. I really liked their song "Animal", not for the lyrics, but the music - the techno/synth reminded me of Blood Drums ("Savage") and old Skillet and I loved it! It was a pretty good show, but they ended with "Highway to Hell" and that rubbed me the wrong way. Otherwise, they rocked! It also helped that I was able to sit with some people I knew - I ended up meeting with two people from my church, so that was great to see them. Also, fun fact, that was my first big-name concert since 2019! Speaking of church, hoping to go see Skillet at the park in a few weeks. I don't know a ton of their super new stuff (I only have their first CD up to 2013's Rise), but I love their old stuff. I would be so happy if they did any of the following older songs (which they probably won't, they just released Dominion this year): "I Can", "Gasoline", "Saturn", "Paint" (from their first album), "Locked in a Cage", "Take", "Whirlwind", "Dive over In", "Scarecrow" (from Hey You, I love your soul), "You take my rights away", "I trust you" (from Invincible (2000)), "Earth Invasion", "Kill Me Heal me" or "Stronger" (from Alien Youth). Despite that probably not happening (unless they pulled out "Saturn" or "You are my Hope" for old times sake), I know I'll enjoy whatever they play as they've always put on a great live show.
