Very clever… they used the design but not the name.

Speaking of last night, I had a great time! It was good to catch up with you @silver2005; glad you are feeling better (also, we must have visited Diamondback on two separate occasions as they were hauling when my friend and I rode)! My first run through of Slaughter House (a few minutes after open) was amazing... EVERYONE was on their A-game and it was probably one of the scariest visits ever (and SH doesn't usually scare me)! That being said, I still love Slaughter House; what a great crew! Also did Xtreme Skyflier for the first time at night. While it wasn't much different than during the day, it was a lot colder due to the speed my friend and I were going. I also enjoyed saying hey to people I knew working at the park. I got the full Coney Maul dance party experience and it was epic! Of course I breakdanced... "Funhouse" by P!nk was a perfect song for that area... that section of the park really is "filled with evil clowns" lol. Speaking of scarezones, I once again loved the green face paint of the hooded aliens in Alien X! I think my favorite mazes overall thus far are still Slaughter House (for the people) and Chaos (for the theme). And speaking of mazes, this week I realized that perhaps the walk down stairs to get to the main level of Madame Fatale's is intentional as it reminds me of the walk to exhibits like the cave at the museum (or at least, how it used to be; I haven't been since they re-did Union Terminal). If so, this is genius! EDIT since I didn't see a specific thread dedicated to NyteWalkers...: Saw the 10:30 show last night and I was not a fan. The talent was great, but there was barely a storyline. Also, how does Doja Cat's song "Vegas" have to do with Halloween? Maybe that had to do with the story because... On the other hand, my friend loved it precisely because there was no story to follow. EDIT2: The only other maze I did last night was Chaos, and that was interesting. Oddly enough, one of the places I got scared was in the same place I did Sunday lol Also, we had a bit of a logjam towards the end of the mirror maze, so I started dancing along to the music with all the strobe lights going!

Good stuff (I too love Slaughterhouse and thought Killmart is good this year), but let's agree to disagree on the dance party! While it may seem out of place on paper (doesn't match Haunt's "scary" atmosphere) I think it's cool and something different! Looking forward to spending more time on the dance floor tomorrow night. EDIT: I would also (partially) agree on CHAOS... it had a very strong theme its first year (as a sleep experiment gone wrong!), but it's kinda devolved into a "Sci-fi/aliens" theme this year (however, apparently there is some semblance of the original theme as one of the scareactors's lines said "ready to sleep?" when he popped out Sunday). That being said, I still enjoy Chaos for the cool sci-fi theme it does have (even if that goes by the wayside the deeper you get into the maze...).

I understand! Speaking of which, I enjoyed seeing the sliders in Rivertown last night; are you guys (and gals) always in Rivertown? Also, I tried to figure out which one was you (as some looked familiar), but I didn't know who was who...

That's pretty cool;; thanks for sharing!

Got back from Haunt and had a good time. I'd never been on a Sunday night before, so that was cool. Did all the mazes, plus Slaughter House again at the end (I think that's my favorite overall Haunt maze, just because it's so familiar to me). For maximum scares, I would suggest going through the indoor mazes while it's still daylight (if possible) as the mazes seemed darker than normal when contrasted with the brightness outside. Went through Chaos and Hotel when it was still daylight (and I've done this before with Slaughterhouse and others) and it absolutely made a difference. Not sure if that would work with Madame Fatale's as the queue is indoors, but I feel like that idea would work for the majority of the indoor mazes. Also rode Zephyr, Shake Rattle and Roll (first ride this season!), Scrambler and Blue Racer. Saw Al and participated in the dance party in Coney Maul - I think it's really cool to have a DJ in that scare zone as it makes it a lot of fun. EDIT: There also seemed to be more fog in the scare zones tonight.
-
Cool! I feel like that would be weird... For me, I think the cold and snow might add to the scares. Because of the snow, @Snowball, did you take refuge inside a maze, or were you still outside?
-
Super random Haunt question, as I know it gets cold around this time of year... has it ever snowed during Haunt (or Fearfest)? And if anyone (on here) has experienced this, what was it like?

Nickelodeon Celebration Parade!
MDMC01 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
@Hawaiian Coasters 325: Thanks for sharing! I remember seeing this parade go by while working in Food Service (It's Fried/Midway Treats and Eats to be exact)! That was a long time ago... EDIT: Also, Fun Fact, the individual who made the last post before the thread was recently revived is one of my best friends! EDIT2: Superchick was on the soundtrack!?!?! That's awesome!!! EDIT 3: Also Jump5!!! This is an awesome mix! -
2022 & 2023 Additions and Improvements Notice
MDMC01 replied to MrSourNinja's topic in Coming Attractions
Yes and yes. I know there have been some times where I've only visited the park for a show (the last showing of "The Boyz are Back", the waterpark event in 2019, seeing Skillet this year and Crowder in 2019, etc.). Also, on ride theming, I'd like to think that if the next coaster were to go in Vortex's plot, that would be the time for Backlot to get a refresh. I would love to see the ride get spinning cars and a retheme - it would be like two *new* coasters. Finally, there was a comment made above about Rougarou not being enough of a reason to go to Cedar Point... I'm one of those people that would go to CP just to ride Rougarou, thank you very much (especially now that Wicked Twister is gone)! I think Floorless coasters are really unique and would love to ride more (I've only ridden Hydra and Rougarou thus far). Also, I love Rougarou's intensity; it gives the ride character. When I ride Banshee in the back row, it feels like I'm on Rougarou (which is ironic because the original (planned) name for Mantis was Banshee). -
There's a finale this year? I'll have to check that out next time I go!

I went last night and had a good time. Because I got there a bit later (8:45-ish), it was starting to get crowded. Hotel St. Michelle was my first maze of the night and first (non-Hallowtween) maze since 2018 (I had wanted to start with Chaos, but the line was super long). I really enjoyed the maze's location and theming (especially the jazz music playing out front). I was in the back of the group, which was fitting as this was my role when I was in Urgent Scare in 2019. I then did Slaughter House and while there were some changes from past years, it was still good to be back (as I've said today, it's still "comfort food" to me, pun sorta intended lol). "Chops" is great! I then did Killmart twice; the second time through was a lot scarier. Afterwards, I did Chaos and it was interesting. Booked it down to Cornered and saw a familiar face while walking through. The maze's location was sorta random imo, and I think the second half was better than the first half. That being said, I think I liked Field of Screams better (and not just because I worked there in 2019...). However, I then walked all the way to Madame Fatale's and that was alright (I was starting to get tired by this point), however . I then did Slaughter House and Hotel St. Michelle again before leaving. Like my trip through Slaughter House in 2018, I went into Hotel St. Michelle by myself and I'm pretty sure I was the last "group" of the night (not unlike that one night where I was one of the last inside Backwoods Bayou many years ago). Before summarizing, I want to talk about the new Scarezones. Alien X is awesome; the While it was strange walking through the old Pumpkin Eater pathway with no scareactors (I thought it would be a dead end for some reason...), I enjoyed the placement of the new Pumpkin Eater and thought it was well done. Overall, it was fun, but different from years past. I do plan on going a few more times during the season and I may even try to go on a Sunday night!
-
Same, in more ways than one (I was the last one through Hotel St. Michelle last night and the only one in my group lol)
-
Yeah, I didn't see "Al" tonight...
-
As I said in the other thread, I'm just looking forward to getting back to Haunt as I haven't been since 2018.
-
Good stuff; super pumped for tomorrow night! And yes, the sliders in the background were great - I loved when one of them did a cartwheel! I haven't been to Haunt since 2018*, so I'm super excited to get back to the park! I'm planning on at least going through Chaos, Hotel St. Michelle and of course Slaughter House. I'd also like to check out the new location of Cornered if I get the chance. *In 2019 I was a Scareactor in Field of Screams

For those feeling nostalgic, here's the ride list on the old website (courtesy of Internet Archive) with the original names. Enjoy! https://web.archive.org/web/20050308050704/http://www.thebeachwaterpark.com/rides/adults/ Also, according to the website, Volcanic Panic opened in 2004... EDIT: If you click "Park Map" on one of the web pages, it will automatically download a PDF of the 2004 Park Map!

Can't read much of the article because of a paywall, but my two thoughts are finally!!! and That's sad. I've had some good times at Beach when I was younger including riding a lot of the slides and being excited for Volcanic Panic, which was new for 2005. Although my last experience at the Beach was lackluster (Beach Mountain was expensive for what you got, which was one sledding hill), it is sad that it is finally closing. That being said, I am glad that a decision has been made as it's been SBNO for years. I wonder if any of the slides will be going anywhere.

That’s pretty cool!

So was the cake float in the parade automated (did it move on its own) or did it have someone driving it (in front of the float)? I am curious as in the above picture, it looks like it's moving down the road by itself lol

Top Thrill Dragster Incident
MDMC01 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That wording caught me off guard… I thought it would be leaving for good, but maybe not… If it were to be retired completely, I wouldn’t be surprised. However, it would be strange not seeing that huge structure at the park any longer. Also weird that their two back to back launch coasters would get the axe (?) within the same two years. Different circumstances, I know, but still… -
That's pretty cool. Also, I was wondering how the 90's/2000's pins would work as the park was owned by Paramount at that time (because the names of the rides have changed over the years).
