  1. Lots to catch up on! First off, War of the Worlds is a Paramount movie that came out in 2005 (another movie with the same title came out in 1953 and was also by Paramount). Second, we have a hashtag! Also, on that note, this teaser campaign is getting good, what with the petition site and that blog post. Speaking of the blog post, to put another way, Chad is saying that "The End is Where we Begin" Third, that Son of Beast box scared me as a kid, I didn't want to be in the park the day whatever was in the box got out! Fourth, @Maverick44, I like your idea about an S&S launch coaster coming to KI; I just hope it's much longer than Maxx Force! Also, re: the first 500ft coaster, I could see China being one of the first to reach 500 feet as they've really been building some interesting coasters lately. Finally, someone mentioned a telescope being a possible item that could be sent to the media along with an announcement invitation and it made me think of the Italy float during Carnivale, which featured a telescope.
  2. More like, Beheeym! (Who gets this reference?) Also, RE: Orion being a Winter constellation, what if the giga will be able to run during Winterfest... (jk) Also, kudos to @supertrooper who made that awesome poster, you had me going there for a second...
  3. Wonder why that other side isn’t running? You’d think each each side would swing out in opposite directions (like Meteor at Dorney or Skyhawk at CP)
  4. Nice! I see it now -MDMC, avoiding a one word post
  5. About that... I was at Island Nights Friday and while HiFi Honey abbreviated their second set due to the fireworks, I only got to hear a few seconds of “Footprints” before the DJ switched it back to whatever music was playing in between sets (while the fireworks were still going off!). I called that a bold move as the band was notified about stopping for the fireworks, but the DJ kept right on going lol EDIT: Not seeing the pic @upstop
  6. When I went last year, there were fireworks that went off close to the midnight close due to the beach party thing (I forget what it’s called). I know this as I got a fireworks ride on Blue Streak and so thought it was super weird that’d shoot ‘em off so late.
  7. So, just catching up and a few things: #1: LEONARD BERNSTEIN! #2: I like the name Paul; the Paul’s I’ve met are pretty cool #3: To the person who talked about the ‘60s space theme... Also, anyone notice the old style TV photo op during Winterfest (and to an extent, Tinsel Town in general)? #4: Shooting Star is definitely an interesting choice as it wasn’t even at the park, though it could be reference to CONEY Island, which was the original name of the Coney Mall area (IIRC). So far, the posters depicting non-coasters have been connected to Coney Mall in some type of way (with the exception of Bayern Curve). Speaking of Bayern Curve, what if we could be getting a new flat (well, a restored one) along with the giga? Just something to think about...
  8. Interesting stuff, everyone! I really like that Vortex poster (the blue reminded me of GateKeeper at bit at first) and looking forward to seeing all these posters plus the new one tomorrow night.
  9. I remember when Adventure Express had three trains. I think one of the block brakes was on the second lift.
  10. Also, the 300 pages means this thread has crossed the Giga threshold; woo! Also, I thought FOF still ran with three trains...
  11. @Hawaiian Coasters 325 : You know, I don’t think I fully appreciated Disaster Transport’s queue line. Yeah it was unique and cool, but it was more a themed waiting area for the great ride ahead. I don’t remember paying too much attention to the details (though I do still remember that “Dispatch Master Transport” sign in the queue.
  12. That’s what I was gonna say lol Anyhow, I really like that they got rid of the mandatory VR for Galactica. If I ever get to riding coasters far from home, I would be Happy to visit Alton Towers (for Oblivion, Wicker Man and Galactica) and Thorpe Park (for Collosseus). Also would love to get to Phantasialand in Germany because Taron and great theming. -MDMC, taking wordplay to the movies
  13. I also love Rougarou, which is why I’d love a floorless at KI. Now, I think this is a really cool teaser campaign that they are doing. That FoF poster was cool, but I still call dibs on the Invertigo poster (Unless there are cooler posters to come, such as King Cobra, Son of Beast or Drop Tower/Delirium)!
  14. Out of the 4 Cedar Fair parks I have been to*, it is a toss up between KI and CP. I think KI has the best overall lineup, but Cedar Point has some pretty fantastic coasters that KI does not have (Steel Vengeance, Valravn, Dragster, Rougarou, Maverick, Millennium Force). As for the other two parks, Dorney has a mostly solid lineup, but their Wild Mouse is garbage and Steel Force is really good, but (IMO) not quite at the same level as Hydra, Possessed, Talon and Thunderhawk). It would be nice if they added that rumored GCI, but overall, the lineup is solid. And finally, we have Michigan’s Adventure. While I remember the coasters being decent, the only standout seems to be Shivering Timbers. *Not counting KD and Carowinds since I went there during their Paramount days . But if I did include them, Carowinds (as of 2003) would be in third place and KD would probably be 4th or even 5th, only because I didn’t ride much there. The three coasters I did ride (Anaconda, Volcano and Avalanche) were fun though.
  15. If Invertigo is in fact leaving, it would be a little sad as it is one of the last of its kind. At the same time, I would love to see a floorless coaster go in that area (Congo Falls would probably have to be removed too). As for the Larson Looper, put it somewhere else in the park, like Coney or Oktoberfest.
  16. Finally got through to reading all this. I got so excited when I saw the posters! Can't wait to see them myself on Friday before Island Nights! I've been listening to hype music and I'm just so excited for this thing! Also, I find it interesting that it says that 18% of specimens were at the latitude and longitude reference point on the Firehawk poster. Could this be a nod to its former life at Geauga lake (that for 18% of its life it was in another location)? This is so cool and oh my gosh I'm so hyped right now!!!! EDIT: Also, I call dibs on a poster (right now, the Invertigo one but it is very early in the teasing phase; FOF, Banshee, or The Bat (1993)'s posters may look cooler)!
  17. A Son of Beast reboot coaster would be cool. Also, I got really excited when I thought the MF logo was in the fireworks; that would have been so cool to have it “written in the stars” like that (quote from Ledger’s song “Cosmic”- I love that song!)
  18. That Millennium Force video is one of my favorites on YouTube. Do they sell DVD copies of it somewhere?
  19. Instead of "happy little trees", I guess he makes "happy Lil Gigas"! Also, anyone at the park seen any teasers? It would be cool (and telling) if the teasing started today as it is the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. On a related note, I wonder if there are any references to the moon landing during any of today's performances of Gravity?
  20. As of the 2017 season (my last season at the park and the one when I mostly did restrooms), bathroom assignments were similar, but different. I-Street is front gate and Festhaus; AZ is Invertigo/Banshee/Oktoberfest; Coney is WindSeeker/Backlot and Rivertown/Snoopy are grouped together. Picnic Grove and Soak City are it’s own thing. Speaking of the Picnic Grove, I’ve only been assigned there a handful of times and it was fun, just because it was somewhere different that I didn’t get to go a whole lot. -MDMC, a little surprised he still remembers all of this!
  21. I used to love “Family Matters as a kid! I remember I laughed so hard when Steve knocked down the Christmas tree Also, “Did I do that”?
  22. Just out of curiosity, was it Gold, Silver or Bronze that was removed from the track?
  23. I didn’t mind this change until it said $1 gets 2 tokens... that means you pay $.50 per shot when you used to pay $.25 per shot. Now, if $1 gave 4 tokens, I’d be fine with that... wonder why they didn’t keep the original exchange rate (but obviously with tokens)?
  24. Not sure if I responded to this thread yet, but... I would love to see a floorless coaster at the park! I know we have Vortex and Banshee, but I think it would be really cool; I think the layout could be such that it feels separate from those two coasters. As for where to put it, I’d say remove Invertigo (and Congo if we must) and put it in that plot of land. Also, I think it would be really cool if Backlot got spinning cars... it could start freely spinning once it gets to the top of the helix and then and then maybe stop spinning at the helicopter scene. The only refurbs that would need to be done are new trains and a wider clearance (in the tunnels), plus maybe new paint and a new sign if they wanted to rename it (I recommend painting it brown and calling it Rivertown Rambler).
