  1. Happy 10 million, DT (or as I prefer to call it, Drop Zone)! Though I'm now partial to Delirium (it's so relaxing!) it is a good late 90's staple of the park and always a thrilling ride. However, I've often been afraid of being stuck at the top, which thankfully has never happened. Here's the 20+ more years of thrills!
  2. I saw the announcement video this morning and here were my overall (intial) thoughts: -I was most excited about the PowerSplash coming to Six Flags over Texas (also, Aquaman was a great movie!) -Lots of flats and waterslides... why all the water attractions (even for Cedar Fair)… I mean, I get waterparks are a big draw, but for two companies to be focusing on mostly water park additions for 2020 (barring Six Flags' coasters, Orion, the Michigan's Adventure addition and the aforementioned SIX flats, of course), that seems a little interesting... -On the topic of flats, the Air Race going into Six Flags Fiesta Texas looks really cool and unique -Is Discovery Kingdom's coaster new or used? I only ask as it wasn't long ago that Rajun' Cajun got moved from SFGAM to Six Flags America. -I had already known about Jersey Devil, so I guess it looks cool, I guess; finally a custom Raptor* On that last note, I thought about how it was cool how all these insane "dreamed up" coasters are coming to life. For example, some claimed TTD looked like an exaggerated coaster brought to life. Also, El Loco reminds me of that toy coaster/slide toy that ran at K B Toys at the mall that did a bunch of crazy turns and went upside down. Finally, some could say the same about Raptor track's single rail design (as when drawing a roller coaster, some only use one line to represent the coaster). Just something I found interesting *Upon watching Coaster Studios' review of the coaster, it actually sounds cool, but not sure how much I'm on board with the Devilish themeing (thought they'd go for supernatural theming as I believe the Jersey Devil is some sort of paranormal/cryptozoological thing). In any case, it looks unique and cool and the upon seeing the Coaster Studios video, the whole ride reminds me of something Cedar Fair would do (which is a good thing; a standalone coaster with non-DC theme). Also, finally I don't have to California or Texas to try out these things (but to be fair, Railblazer looks really cool and I'd love to go to Fiesta Texas for more than just their two RMC's).
  3. Where is this button you speak of? Is it in the elevator or on the platform?
  4. Sorry to double post, but I just saw that Falcon’s Flight video... please tell me that’s not the actual ride lol... that looks like something made in a game like Planet Coaster or Ultimate Ride. And what’s with the unbanked turns and insanely high hill on the cliff top... I get that’s it’s a concept video (I guess), but, uhh..
  5. The park itself sounds interesting, almost like a modern version of an ambitious “edge of the millennium” theme park concept, but a few questions/comments: 1) What is a hydraulic boom ride (and how does it differentiate from the Drop Tower)? 2) I’m curious about the water coaster... will it be the Intamin vertical lift type (or launch?), a water slide, or something like the Liquid Coaster of yesteryear (a modern counterpart could have been Shoot the Rapids in a way)? Or could it even be a single rail suspended coaster Roller Soaker/Nickelodeon coaster (at Hershey/Carowinds, respectively)? 3) The Aeromax sounds like those rides where you can control the rotation of your craft (forget what that’s called) 4) The rainforest theme sounds cool 5) Why Saudi Arabia? As someone else said, lots of theme park projects in that area have either been shuttered or are struggling due to over expansion- what makes this project any different?
  6. Thanks for posting that commercial, @decyferite! I now get the origin of “Tastes Great... Less Filling”. I think I’ve shared this story before, but @Magenta Lizardand I tried to get that started on VF during the Passholder preview night; it was hilarious!
  7. Hey all, I went to the park from 9:30ish- 7:30/7:45 and had a blast. I was mainly there to ride stuff and see my final shows of Country Flashback, as I'll be headed up to CP for Labor Day. After getting to the park, I bought a pair of sunglasses as I broke a pair breakdancing at Island Nights (because of course I did lol). I then ran into Don before doing Diamondback and Mystic for ERT. Diamondback actually wasn't that bad, but I still don't like that floater air (sat in Row 5, I think). By the time I was done with Mystic, it was after 10, so I headed to Backlot (which has the best soundtrack in the park) and then Flight of Fear. I want to apologize for overreacting about Flight of Fear's roughness on posts after last Friday's trip. I strongly believe the roughness was the row I was sitting in as today's ride was a little better (I was in Row 3 today and Row 2 on Friday). In addition to the 2 Premier launch coasters, I rode Zephyr, Delirium, The Bat (which was fun as always; I also heard "Lucky" by Britney Spears in line, which was really cool), Train, Adventure Express (where I ran into some fellow coaster enthusiasts in line), Vortex, Shake Rattle and Roll and Mystic Timbers. I also saw three shows of Flashback Country, which was great! I wish I'd seen it more times this season as I really do love the show, as I heard some of the songs from the show as a kid as my parents like country. Also, I think that some of the singers are really talented and the live band is a really cool element of the show. In addition the rides and the country show, I visited the Petting Farm today and noticed there were some new animals that showed up, like these sheep with black heads (white bodies) that were mixed in with the goats. There was also this black donkey that I hadn't seen before. Finally, I ran into some friends during my visit, including @gannersdaddy.
  8. Thanks for the close ups @collin.klopfstein; you're the real MVP! I went up on the (Effial) Tower today and was so excited to see track (and yes I got a picture, but Collin and others did a much better job). Also, yes the park was pretty busy today. The first hour was alright and then it got packed! I plan on posting my thoughts in the general KI thread.
  9. I was gonna post a meme with a picture of Spongebob introducing Squidward to everyone (from the episode “Dying for Pie”) and say “Me when I take a friend to Kings Island”, but I couldn’t find that specific GIF.
  10. From what I’m seeing, I like the Minebuster RMC POV better. Also, I’ll be sure to give that trash can thing a try In all seriousness, I’d do it once for the credit. I was more referring to the similarities being the unique riding positions. Also, I think Time Warp would be harrowing for me because of the potential claustrophobia, not to mention the allegedly painful ride experience.
  11. I love the Surf Cincinnati name idea! Can we also get all the old WaterWorks attraction names back, please (except for Bonsai Pipeline... I think SIX has that one)? As for the future, here is a wish list of stuff that I’d love to see come to KI as well as things that would be cool, but are not as high up on the list... a B&M Floorless Interactive area like a Forbidden Frontier (and a climbing structure please!) MOAR flats! DZ and Delirium are great, but we need some cool unique ones... how about Sledgehammer, a Top Scan or another Top Spin? FOF improvements (it’s too rough, perhaps a repaint or TLC will cause it to run better) Ground up RMC (Hybrid or T-Rex; first option would be most likely, but T-Rex would be unique) S&S launch coaster... should be long and fast (and possibly go out to the woods and have some theming), just don’t have an unusual brake run like Maxx Force. *On that note, I think something like Steel Curtain would be a fantastic replacement for Vortex when its time comes A Water coaster or something else cool (like a mini-funnel or a half-pipe slide) in Soak City. Finally, re: the parking lot getting replaced, I would LOVE that, but I’m not sure when they’d have time to do it all at once since the season no longer ends after Haunt. Now, they could work on the Soak City side during Winterfest and do the rest afterwards (or break it up over a few years, perhaps).
  12. If Rustbucket is talking about the Skyrush/Flying Aces (In Dubai) restraints, then yes, they need a redesign. If Skyrush’s restraints were redesigned, it may change my opinion of the ride for the better!
  13. @lifetimecoaster: My old cargo pants had zippers, but my new ones have buttons and deep pockets (I’ve successfully ridden Banshee and Diamondback this year). Though I originally wanted another pair of zipper pants when my old pairs broke down (both zipper issues, IIRC), I like my new button pants and it’s really nice to go through the no-bag line at the metal detectors.
  14. I got a mental picture of watching people on the webcam and it reminded me of The Hunger Games... “May the odds be ever in your favor” Also, how crowded is The Point on Labor Day weekend?
  15. There is also the factor of once you get said game cards, you might lose it... I had somewhere around 600-700 points on a game card (was trying to save up for a Nickelodeon plush or some other thing- I think it was a mini bowling set) and I lost it during that Passholder Ride Night in Action Zone. At the start of one park visit, I went to the Coney Arcade and asked a manager if they could look up my debit card (to try to put the points back on) and they said I had to buy a new game card
  16. So, I too wear cargo pants, but... I’m probably (unfortunately) going to go with a locker my first few rides on Orion, just to be safe as it seems to be more “extreme” than the other KI coasters (do note my stuff has survived Banshee, Diamondback, and IIRC, Xtreme Skyflyer- the last is not a coaster, obviously, but I think I left some of my belongings in my cargo shorts during the ride). And at this Point, I also plan on getting that roaming locker for my CP trip (as I did last year) as I feel a lot of their coasters are more extreme than KI’s (namely Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Valravn, Steel Vengeance and Rougarou; Wicked Twister and Maverick are possible maybes). Also, I totally thought that RCDB pic said “Coaster through the Clouds Shambhala” (as one name) when I first read it lol. EDIT: Though on second thought, my stuff might be fine in the shorts. Thoughts?
  17. Speaking of fountains, I didn’t see the Royal Fountains go at all during the fireworks show Friday Night (IIRC, they were working earlier in the day).
  18. Could be, but I’m not sure. Sounds like I’ve heard that music somewhere before, like generic music for a YouTube video or something. Also sounds like “Fireflies” by Owl City. Also, that train looks super cool (and long!).
  19. When I saw the "I've been in line for 4 hours" post on the side of the main forums page, I assumed the OP was talking about Steel Vengeance; then I would have said ride it out. How far are you in line though and is this your first ride on it? Those factors should determine whether 4 hours of waiting is justified. Also, how many people are getting out of line? If it's a significant amount, your wait when it comes back up may be shorter than you thought! Just my $.02 on the subject. Update since he posted he got out of line: This post is mostly irrelevant now, but these are good probing questions for any enthusiast to ask in the future when waiting in line for a ride that is 2-9 (also, how bad do you want to ride?)
  20. Sorry to double post, but I just figured it out... you text “HeyFunTV” to the number and get sent to link to an online survey where you can give feedback on FunTV.
  21. The discussion of texting security re: smoking outside the designated smoking areas prompted me to think of this: While in line for DT one time, I tried to text the “HeyFunTV” number (54040) with my suggestion and it came back with a message that said “The keyword you’re trying to use is not available on our short code 54040”. Perhaps this is because I have a flip phone? EDIT: Or maybe I should have just texted “HeyFunTV” and waited for a prompt?
  22. I’m going up Labor Day weekend and this is one of the things I’m most excited about! Also Rougarou; I miss it so much!
  23. I heard they are bringing Paddlewheel back; I actually discussed that with someone while in line for Backlot yesterday. As far as what I think CP needs, I think they are missing a B&M Flyer (and maybe a GCI, but KI does have Mystic Timbers). I really like how they’ve concentrated on non-coaster additions this year to make CP a more well-rounded Park.
  24. Raptor is way louder and it's super annoying (at least, as of last season it was... I'll find out in two weeks...). On the other hand, Rougarou's roar is awesome and fits with the theme (a beast on the bayou). I would love for Orion to have that B&M roar, but I also understand the implications.
  25. I rode Phantom Flyer... er, I mean Linus Launcher last Sunday and that was interesting... I can only imagine what Time Warp feels like...
