Dive is the new Invert?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
@lifetimecoaster dives are already "kinda" wings as half of the seats are not over track. I'm saying "kinda" loosly. Skyrush at Hershey Park for example is considered a wing. -
Ohio weather might be different than that of Virginia or the Carolinas. Plus it might all depend on which coaster each parks' maintenance departments think are the best to run in cold weather conditions.

Dive is the new Invert?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
An argument could also be made for flyers since its rumored one will come to CP -
That's pretty much been the rant/controversy of the whole thread after the blueprints were released. Grab a baconator and have fun reading all 182 pages

Changing the topic to names, which ever name PR hints at the most is the least likely to happen. KI heavily hinted at the new 2014 coaster being The Bat and 2017 being Splintercat when instead we got Banshee and Mystic Timbers.

If Cedar Fair got another park
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I know this is a stretch but I would actually be happy if Six Flags Great America was part of the Cedar Fair chain. Its the sister park of CGA so it would seem fitting. Imagine if Kings Dominion was owned by a different chain than Kings Island. I know this will likely never happen as Six Flags Great America is one of their "B" list parks but it would still be cool to see both Great Americas under Cedar Fair's control. -
I think they did. Look at the video from 2008 vs 2010 and you can hear a noticable difference After 2010 they were pretty loud. Sometime after that, around 2016, they got quiet again- similar to 2008. 2008- quiet After 2010-loud

Besides Steel Vengeance when was the last time we've seen vertical construction prior to the announcement? Diamondback?

Why do we still have the FH trains? Are they not compatible with Nighthawk or are they keeping them out of nostalgia?

Kennywood adds Steelers coaster!
SonofBaconator replied to Creed Bratton's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Do they charge admission or are all the rides still pay to ride? -
They still could- tallest hyper coaster. It could also break in park records- tallest coaster in the park, steepest, fastest coaster, etc

Kennywood adds Steelers coaster!

We need a wood park chain- Silverwood, Kennywood, Dollywood -
Part of me feels like they did that so people would get a general idea for the coaster. Before the blueprints were discovered, people were thinking of things like a giga and other outlandish attractions. Seeing the blueprints hit people with a dose of reality. This time around it happened too early
-
Marketing and admissions I suppose. They want people to go to the park see the land cleared and get hyped.
-
I kinda agree with him. Now granted if nothing was revealed until the announcement people, namely enthusiasts, would loose their minds so I'm glad we got this dose of reality. Still, it's not as fun as it used to be. Speculating Banshee was the best. Nowadays, however, I have more fun speculating smaller additions because I know enthusiasts and the news media won't be swarming city hall looking for answers. Ignorance is bliss

Dive is the new Invert?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I've made it known that Dive Machines are my favorite style of coaster so I wouldn't be upset if more came our way. They're the perfect coaster for parks since they are GP eaters and they can fit in tight spaces. Its a stretch but World's of Fun deserves something big. I also wouldn't be suprised if Carowinds or Great America received one in the distant future. The next thing I would want to see them do is closer to 100ft and have it chock full of inversions like a true looping coaster. I would love for KI to get one but I don't see that happening anytime in the near or distant future; at least not until the amusement park world has become saturated with them. -
People will still say the blueprints are fake

I'd drop this 2020 coaster in a heartbeat if CF said we'd be getting a coaster like Maverick instead. Maverick was easily the best coaster at CP until SV came along. Short, steep, and fast

Closure of Dinosaurs Alive and opening of lots of land.
SonofBaconator replied to upstop's topic in Kings Island
Double post. With the blueprints and land clearing, its interesting that only about 10-20% of the DA land is being used. -

This is a bit of a novel so grab your popcorn. My friend first sent me the blueprints when they got leaked and I'm not going to lie, I was disappointed. I thought this layout was going to dominate anything we've ever seen, trump Fury, MF and other gigas across the globe. Then when people started calculating the hight as less than 325 and later even less than 300, I got even more disappointed. When I saw that the length was less than Diamondback I just got angry. How could they do this to us? We've waited patiently for years and this is what you give us? Then I realized something After thinking, I think this coaster, based off of the blueprints provided will be just what the park needs. Think about it, "the world's tallest hypercoaster" "the only hyper coaster with a 300ft drop." That's something that can't be taken away from us. People getting mad that it might be 4 feet short of 300 saying "why not more?" forget the potential of a true record breaker. As I've said on this thread before, I'd rather have the tallest hyper than the shortest giga. This is something we can claim as our own. If we were to get a giga at that was say 330 or 350 ft, someone would eventually beat us and we wouldn't hold that title. We still have a 300 drop which I'm happy with. In terms of length I was a little surprised at how short it was, especially the fact that it's shorter than Diamondback, but when you think about it this ride is going to haul the entire time. Would I like it to be longer? Yes. Would I like it to be taller? Maybe. Would I want things changed on it? Personally yes, but other people might disagree with me on what I would like changed. At the end of the day it's still a coaster we could be Michigan's Adventure, Valleyfair, Worlds of Fun, or even Dorney Park and get nothing. We've gotten more in the past 10 years in terms of coasters than most Six Flags parks and most parks in the chain. I think this coaster is going to be extremely underrated when it comes out and there might be some hidden surprises at the park hasn't shared with us yet. They're not even acknowledging that anything's going on so this addition could bring big things for the park in ways that people wouldn't even think about. Personally, I think that the straight out and back layout leaves a ton of room for future expansion as opposed to having it go all over the place. I feel like when they decided to design this coaster they were thinking of the future. My two cents

@DustinTheNow I really like the white track with a red underbelly and blue supports- very patriotic. This is my favorite one and you should do this color scheme Hit trophy if you want this one

For que/station music- I want something dramatic. This is what comes to mind when I see the concepts for this ride. The only part that would have to be edited out is the avengers theme towards the end.
