Also, there will always be heat expelling from the smoke stack whenever a locomotive is in operation, whether it's sitting still or moving. The "puffing" you're referring to is when the engineer pulls back on the throttle allowing steam to go through the cylinders and eventually into the smoke stack. To stop the "puffing" the engineer will push against the throttle so that no steam is pushed through the pistons and the train will just coast, (similar to taking your foot off of the gas in your car.) If I know locomotives correctly, and I do, I expect the engineers normally push the throttle all the way in and let the train coast into the station then open it back up slightly if needed to reach the water tower and the wheelchair ramp.

Kings Island 2017 Discussion Thread

They have ride videos, or at least they used to, on Sheikra. They would show random clips throughout the course of the coaster then showed the parks with the guests. -
Well would you have rather gotten the Vekoma SLC?
-
Greg Shied was asked why Mystic Timbers didn't have any inversions on the ride. He said that with the experience the park has had on inverting wooden coasters, they wanted to stick with the classic look.
-
Another thing to consider is that Vortex was featured on Insane Coaster Wars. I think that's a pretty impressive feat considering that a nearly 30 year old coaster from a defunct company held its own against 3 modern B&Ms, even if it didn't win.

Phantom Theater used to be a Fearfest attraction. They took out half of the cars to out space between riders and would change the music to something more scary. Also, if I recall correctly, they had scare-actors placed throughout the course of the ride. https://KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/24647-history-of-the-haunt/

The Lagoon amusement park built Cannibal themselves so I don't think that's a viable option https://rcdb.com/11579.htm

If it means anything, the ridership on a lot the coasters has gone down if you look at the picture above. Maybe a fresh coat of paint might attract riders back!

*If* Backlot Stunt Coaster was removed....

I'm thinking a low to the ground 70 mph launched reaching a max of 100ft . What are you thinking of? -
It was designed as a platform for a pumpkin patch during Hawlofest and it was just used as a platform for haunt. Unless they are bringing Tombstone Terrortory back, which I highly doubt since MT occupies the area, the platform has no apparent use that I can think of outside if theming.

Vortex is still the 5th most ridden ride in the park according to the rider count as of 2014. It's actually one of the few that still passes the million rider mark. I don't know if this information hold up is considering this was back in 2014. https://KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/30475-kings-island-rider-counts/

Kings Island posted a picture of the Les Taxis on Facebook today and I didn't realize how much the GP disliked them being removed until I read the comments.- 89 replies

I'm really craving a B&M Dive Machine in the park. I know that our park doesn't really need one, and we probably won't get one any time soon, but I enjoy them and they offer 90° drops and an indescribable experience.

Knott's Berry Farm- Boomerang closing!
SonofBaconator replied to rhyano's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Its been floating around off and on for a couple of years. Almost similar to the rumor of KI getting a giga has been floating around for a while. http://www.coastercritic.com/2012/09/knotts-berry-farm-2013-roller-coaster/ ^This is where the main rumors were started before it was announced that a wild mouse would inhabit the pace of the now defunct Perilous Plunge. -
Thought Mack and B&M are both extremely reliable and innovative, I'd rather stick with B&M for a giga. B&M already has 2 gigas under their belt so they have more experience than Mack in that respect.

If the rumor is true, the supposed Dive Coaster would be nearly the same height as Xcelerator. However, I don't think Cedar Fair would add a Dive Coaster exceeding 223ft since they just made Valravn a year ago. -

^I'm a sucker for a Dive Coaster and I think that your prediction is pretty spot on based on the info you've provided. Honestly, Knott's is a perfect candidate for a Dive Coaster since they are landlocked all around. -

I think it would be a nice for those who do go to Michigan's Adventure. They haven't had a coaster since 2008 so I think that something like a boomerang would be a perfect fit. -

So like Fury 325 with a Mako color scheme? That's a good look. The colors blue and green standout to me the most

I'd add a Mack launched coaster called "Wolf Pack!" Placed somewhere in Action Zone, it would fit in perfectly with the spooky theme. I did take some inspiration from Maverick but I tried to make the under the station launch seem like the train's going into an abandoned cabin and I added two extra inversions.

I zoomed in and it looks like a sheep to me #whatswiththesheep

Like animals, some types of ride designs have become more and more scarce as the years go on. B&M sitdowns, Vekoma Flying Dutchmans, Vekoma Invertigos, etc. What are some endangered rides that should make a comeback?
-
Double Post Didn't Greg Shied say that it takes typically two-three years to plan a coaster? I thought I remembered him saying that in an interview after the announcement of MT. Wouldn't that mean that after the release of a new coaster, they immediately look at the next one they want to build? The only thing that would contradict my claim is the gap between Diamondback and Banshee.

I think bins are just another thing for ride associates to worry about when they are loading riders. Take that worry away and operations will be more efficient.
