More on the triotech rumor http://www.latimes.com/travel/themeparks/la-trb-cedar-fair-dark-rides-20150415-story.html "Cedar Fair rival Six Flags, long known for its themeless steel parks"- Best statement I've ever read

Still praying for functioning headlights integrated at some part of the ride

I'm really curious to see what type of Triotech dark ride we might get. Ouimet said that the goal was to have one at every park.

Cedar Fair Coaster Trends
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Would it be wrong to assume that parks like Valley Fair, Dorney Park, or even Michigan's Adventure would receive hand-me-down rides from other, bigger Cedar Fair parks looking to expand in the future? -
More than likely a light. This is what a traditional lumber mill looks like. Notice the train tracks http://www.123rf.com/photo_53250094_stock-vector-lumber-mill-sawmill-building-3d-lowpoly-isometric-vector-concept-illustration.html

I honestly think they'd only get rid of a ride if something was immediately going to replace it within the next year or so. I don't know what they would fit in the Congo falls space
-
Gosh I haven't seen that video in years. It makes me happy to see Lew Brown operate the locomotive that was renamed in his honor.

If Banshee and Mystic Timbers are any indication of how coasters and theme can coexist then we're in for a treat. However, I feel like a lot of the coasters' theming was decided by the park as opposed to the Cedar Fair company. The theming just seems more KI than it does Cedar Fair. That being said I don't know if other Cedar Fair parks will follow suit. Each park is different after all.
-
I'm no expert but I've heard that Adventure Express only has about 20% of its original theming. Can anyone elaborate? @TombraiderTy
-
I wouldn't doubt it because B&M does call them hyper coasters. However, Carowinds calls fury a giga and I'm assuming Wonderland does the same for Leviathan.
-
I always associated hypers as airtime machines 200+ feet. Though dives can reach over 200ft, they offer different elements and have little to no airtime
-
I always thought Banshee was themed really well. I can't imagine riding it without the wail at the top of the hill
-
I never did either. I'm assuming that a complete circuit coaster counts because the lift/launch is different than the drop where shuttle coasters lift/launch and drop on the same stretch of track. If that makes sense.
-
That would be a strata coaster.

Been browsing through the forums and found this thread in with some mothballs. Arguably our best themed coasters are (in no particular order) Mystic Timbers Flight of Fear Banshee Adventure Express Backlot Stunt Coaster I'm not hating on coasters such as The Bat, Diamondback, or even The Beast but the coasters I've listed above have incorporated some type of theming into the ride experience. In all honesty its hard to chose the best themed ride so I'll let you decide.

I'm 6 foot and that doesn't happen to me

Welcome to KIC and apparently the coaster community! Like what Kenban said a giga is the name given to a roller coaster that exceeds 300ft, similar to how a hyper coaster is a coaster that exceeds 200ft. Gigas are known for their height and speed. Most gigas are low to the ground after the first initial drop, though Steel Dragon 2000 has plenty of tall airtime hills. Examples of gigas would be Millenium Force, Intimidator 305, Leviathan, and Fury 325 to name a few. Gigas are quite rare in the coaster world compared to hyper coasters or even inverts though Cedar Fair has cranked out 3 in the past 7 years. Kings Island is the last main Cedar Fair park that hasn't gotten a giga coaster yet. Here's two examples of giga coasters made by two completely different companies Fury 325 made by Bolliger & Mabillard Millennium Force made by Intamin

I honestly thought the same thing before we got Mystic Timbers

I've said this on another thread but I'd love to see a Pony Express type ride added to the park somewhere in Rivertown. The actual Pony Express ride itself doesn't take up that much space at Knott's and it would give people the sensation of riding a horse. Though this isn't likely, if they could install a coaster like Mystic Timbers in such a tight space I'd like to think they could do anything if done well.

I wish we got some string lights overhead on the midway to give it a more fair feel.

What are Kings Islands Plans after Mystic Timbers?
SonofBaconator replied to louisvillecards1's topic in Coming Attractions
The only area that could use some expansion is X-Base. It's not the worst area in the park but it could be so much better -
With the more recent changes to Candy Apple Grove at Kings Dominion as well as the changes made to the County Fair section of Carowinds it would only be fair to speculate the same for Coney Mall. Though a popular section of the park that holds a good chunk of the park's flat rides as well as some great coasters, the charm that initially filled this area has dwindled over the years. What do you think? Do you think Coney Mall will get some type of overhaul in the coming years?

I wonder when the midcourse tunnel will be constructed
