  1. Woah woah woah hold on... Why would they refurbish Vortex's sign for its 30th anniversary if it was just going to be dismantled a year later like you predicted? Last time I checked Cedar Fair hasn't gotten rid of any of their Arrow loopers and there's no rumors circulating that they will. Even though Vortex is older and rougher than some KI coasters, it can still hold it's own against the newer coasters that are being built today. The area that houses the petting zoo won't go. It's too useful as a stage, a possible haunt location, or as a current home for some petting zoo animals. Demolishing Dinosaurs Alive would bring excitement to most but that doesn't mean its going to happen over the next two years. Why do people even want it replaced by a giga? There's plenty of land to add a mega-sized coaster without taking out another attraction. This isn't Cedar Point. Out of the 700+ acres the park currently owns, if you combine the main park with the water park, only 397 acres have been developed. Also it seems like they've made Field of Screams a permanent haunt location as they're trying to establish more long lasting haunt attractions that don't require much setting up or tearing down so that's a no-go on removing the dinos. Even if Dinosaurs Alive was demolished in favor of a giga it would be a poor choice of location. The land that Dinosaurs Alive currently sits on is extremely rugged which would make it extremely difficult to lay footers down as opposed to just picking a different site for the coaster all together. Cedar Fair hasn't removed any of their water rides, with the exception of Shoot the Rapids, so why would they scrap Congo Falls?
  2. I chose my location for the Ferris wheel because it would be within close proximity to Dodgem and the carousel. The reason why I think a dark ride should be near Adventure Express is simple. I am not a fan of the Crypt building and would rather just see it knocked down because it sicks out like a sore thumb. If a dark ride was put in the little "Triangle" between Racer, FOF, and Adventure Express, then KI would have more room to work with as opposed to trying to fit a coaster into a pre-existing building. Plus the extra building would cover up that giant empty space making up what I previously called the "triangle." They could install a building that could house a dark ride and still have enough room for a maintenance road.
  3. I have a request. Do you have any pictures from the K.I.&.M.V.R.R from the 70s-80s? I've saved a lot that I've found online but I'd love to see more!
  4. I drove by the park today on my way to Great Wolf Lodge to get my girlfriend a Valentine's Day gift and my spirits lifted. The lack of leaves on the trees gave me a perfect view of MT and it fits in so perfectly!
  5. They can always build another dining shelter can't they? Also I was thinking of originally putting the dark ride in the old Crypt building but the building itself isn't large enough to fit a coaster like Wonder Mountain's Guardian. It could fit an Iron Reef style attraction but not a coaster.
  6. I tried to mimic this concept when I was thinking to find a way to realistically tweak Coney Mall and this is what I came up with.
  7. I think Coney Mall needs somewhat of an overhaul. Yes the pavers were a good step in the right direction but they can certainly do more to up the wow factor.
  8. You can also see the truck in the blueprints right at the ride's entrance. Notice how windy the path gets between the ride plaza and the beginning of the straight section of the que line. Maybe #theming? Also you can see the locker building in the upper left corner so the building that was shown in the photo above isn't a locker building. It doesn't even seem like a photo building either because it isn't part of the exit.
  9. They aren't going to get rid of Timberwolf, it brings in extra revenue when the park books singers or hosts events such as music in the park. Scrapping Timberwolf would eliminate the opportunity to host large events or have singers perform in the park.
  10. I honestly thought GWL was enough but perhaps if KI offered cheeper rates they could add a campground. The question is where would the campground be located if they decided to add one? Maybe acquire some land by The Beach or find some space across the highway.
  11. I'm sorry but it seems like you're criticizing the Cedar Fair chain as a whole for it's choice in B&M installations yet you praise B&M's from non-CF parks. Everyone has their own opinion on coasters but your's seem extremely bland and lack any explanation. Therefore saying a ride sucks and not saying anything else to back up your claim is an invalid statement.
  12. I'm not ruling out Intamin possibly returning to the chain. I would actually prefer the company to do some smaller work for Cedar Fair like shuttle coasters and flat rides. I mainly say this because honestly, I think Mack is going to dominate Intamin when it comes to intense launched coasters in the coming years.
  13. Since it was announced that CGA will be getting a LIM steel coaster that'll be 200+ feet in the future, the question has to be asked- "Is Intamin coming back to Cedar Fair?" The last time Cedar Fair worked with Intamin was back in 2010 when they added Intimidator 305 to Kings Dominion and Shoot the Rapids to Cedar Point.. After 2010, Intamin has been notably absent from the Cedar Fair chain as B&Ms and GCIs started to be built in multiple parks. Though Intamin has produced great rides over the years, they haven't necessarily been labeled as reliable. Sections of rides like I305 and Maverick have been re-tracked after being built either changing elements or removing them all together. Also Shoot the Rapids had an accident that injured several riders. Is it possible that Cedar Fair is bringing Intamin back? Or is it possible (but extremely unlikely) that Wicked Twister at CP might move to CGA?
  14. I think if it were maintained better and changed up a bit people might like it. I just feel like anymore the "nightlife" at the park as seemed a tad dismal, but that's just what I think.
  15. I really want to see the return of Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular. Ever since its been gone the park just seems way more dark and desolate.
  16. When you sketch coaster designs during your class lecture..
  17. I agree maintenance shops are important but in all honesty stuff has to be removed or relocated whenever a new coaster in built. That's the only place in the park that I could think of that would make some sense if they were going to put a giga somewhere. Everyone wants X-Base restrooms and more attractions but the only way to do that is to compromise the maintenance area.
  18. I completely agree and there are still tons of spots around the park where people can go unseen. I think people have to stay vigilent and report anything suspicious to park personnel.
  19. I made some renderings on what I think a giga in X-Base would look like. The coaster in this concept runs along a straight, relatively flat section of land that would require minimal tree removal and would over all be a more economic choice. I didn't really factor in any specific turns, except after the first drop, to convey the overall shape of the ride. Also notice how Dinosaur's Alive hasn't even been touched. I'll provide a more detailed rendering soon. Thoughts?
  20. I would love to have Scooby back but Snoopy isn't a bad substitute. I do wish the park used him more in advertisements. I always thought Snoopy was more of a mascot for Cedar Point than he was for Kings Island.
  21. I think you'd have to fight Mr. Six to get old Scoob back...
  22. Apparently this little girl and this man initially met at the park but she left unharmed because he wasn't who he said he was. However, later on they continued to chat on the app which lead to a second meeting where the girl split off from her group and tried to confront the man for lying to her and that's where things went south. http://www.wlwt.com/article/man-charged-with-rape-unlawful-sexual-conduct-with-minor-at-kings-island/8658300 All you younger KIC members please listen to what I have to say. I was fourteen when I started to go to Kings Island without parental supervision but I still had to check in with my mom every hour or so through text. I think teenagers need to be more aware about the dangers of meeting people online. I'm sure there's hundreds of cases just like these that haven't been reported yet. This little girl didn't even bring it up until the police found out this man was talking to her. The fact of the matter is that you can't trust anyone you meet online. For all you know, I could be a completely different person than what I have set my profile as on here and no one would know, though some of you know what I look like from running into me at the park every now and then. Apps that are used to communicate with people are an extremely risky place to meet people; you don't see their face, you don't know what they look like, where they're from, or what they really want. If you have a messaging app that isn't Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram than you probably don't want your parents to read what you are saying otherwise you would be using your text feature on your phone. If people you don't know are messaging you on something other than on text than they probably don't want your parents reading it either. I'm not saying to not participate on forums like this one but I am saying to be careful. A lot of things, even things worse than rape, can result from meeting someone online.
  23. Just another example of being aware of who you talk to over social media. Absolutely terrible http://www.wlwt.com/article/man-charged-with-rape-unlawful-sexual-conduct-with-minor-at-kings-island/8658300
  24. I wonder how MT will hold up as a night ride. Will it be completely dark between the second drop and the shed?
