  1. Ohio Governor has said he is considering shutting down Ohio bars and restaurants in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19....
  2. And that impact will likely trickle down into amusement parks and other venues and will adjust our normal going forward for years to come ....
  3. And just like that, we see the first curfew in this country as a response to this situation.... Residents in Hoboken, New Jersey, must stay in their homes from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, a daily curfew that’s among the first and most far-reaching such measures taken in the U.S. The response to this situation is like the game "follow the leader", once one community or business does something, the others start to follow and copy....
  4. This is what we are hoping to prevent by taking these drastic measures... https://www.yahoo.com/news/italians-over-80-left-die-151225888.html
  5. Speaking of August, it is rumored the NBA will announce if they don't start play by August 1st, the season is done...
  6. Count the Cincinnati Zoo as an outdoor place you cannot visit now..they closed too...
  7. Walmart is the next store to cut hours...
  8. I don't know how widespread it is, but there are many college age students in my subdivision that this has happened to. They are trying to get waivers to finish the term early because even though their universities have gone to on-line classes, they cannot do that while at boot camp. Watched a mom crying last night as her little Johnny got picked up to head to boot camp a year early...
  9. Many college students that were enlisted to start boot camp next year just had it moved up to between Monday and end of month....wonder why... You were not around for the Cincinnati riots of 2001 when curfews and stuff where implemented. It can certainly be done easier than you think...will there be pocket areas of less populated that can get away with more, absolutely, but in highly populated areas they simply close everything and bring in the Guard...
  10. And Kroger just changed their hours to 7am to 9pm or 10pm (news channels are conflicting closing time at the moment (WCPO says 9pm; others say 10pm))...expect to watch the others follow suit...
  11. We are in unprecedented times that nobody has experienced and thus no real history to go by. What is happening now could not have been predicted 3-4 months ago, or even on Monday this week... I think most are optimistic that things will return to "normal" soon, but it is simply a guess and "normal soon" is a relative time frame. I think there would be a stronger likelihood that schools in Ohio probably will not go back to in-person learning this school year if the current projections and peak times hold true or go longer. Tokyo Disneyland and Universal Japan were going to re-open this weekend, but have since pushed it back through "early April or beyond", but Shanghai Disney Resort partially reopened Monday. Their closure length will be the closest we have to a "history" to go by. It is way too early to speculate what may happen here. If the closure is long enough (say until mid-July), the parks may decide to scrap the year as the opened weeks wouldn't justify the expense. The Cedar Fair parks with Haunt and Winterfest may decide to re-open because of the extended schedules, but we are just guessing at this point. What they do about refunds, etc. would be determined at that time...
  12. Nobody ever spins the truth or censors information
  13. Apple Stores are now closing...one of the first "retail" types to do so...
  14. Wow...all brick house with no siding and only one car garage...oh wait it looks like maybe it was a two car and they converted it into living space....we never see that here
  15. For those that missed it earlier in the thread...with numbers and graphs to substantiate the information....
  16. Record heat and wildfires out of control hasn't killed it.... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-50817963
  17. And yet it was Summer in Australia and just turned to Autumn...why do they have cases then...
  18. And that will probably include giving away the gate like we have never seen before...
  19. Maybe they can add hours to each operating day, like midnight or 1 am closings (cross threading LOL knowing that will not happen due to noise...)
  20. Miami U just followed suit for rest of semester that ends mid May. Museum Center and Art Museum closed.. This will be the new normal for awhile....
  21. Not all, but yeah most end before K-12. Miami goes until mid-May. Many districts are notifying their staff to assume they will not return this school year... Latest projection is this thing peaks in May...most schools in Ohio end late May and why start it back up for a few weeks... If we shut schools down for three weeks for 4 confirmed cases, do you really think they will re-open in 3 weeks when we have thousands of confirmed cases...
  22. I know that - I posted the Governor's order here LOL... I mean K-12 out the rest of the school year beyond the 3 weeks like the universities are starting to do as I mentioned in that post...
  23. University of Cincinnati just canceled in-person classes rest of term. Spring break extended until Wed, March 25th with online starting up on Thursday the 26th. All students need to be out of dorms by March 25th and UC will reimburse pro-rated for rest of term on room and board... I suspect we will see that happen to K-12 as well beyond the initial 3 week order...and will trickle into when amusement parks open...
  24. Imagine the foresight Cedar Fair had to make this the year of the giga EDIT - it was funnier when I typed it, but apparently budget isn't allowed before giga on this site LOL...
  25. And look how quickly it has changed...
