  1. All ohio schools public and private shut down at least 3 weeks after school ends Monday. Most major sports have suspended including basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey.
  2. Summary of other park responses: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/how-disney-universal-and-other-theme-parks-are-responding-to-coronavirus-205923602.html
  3. Didn't see this posted anywhere here (or I missed it)? https://www.cedarpoint.com/play/events/just-for-fun-weekend
  4. One could argue if they had the event then someone wouldn't feel the need to trespass.... ...um wait yeah someone would still do it...
  5. Um a couple weeks ago a scientist in California developed a vaccine within 3 hours after getting the live virus in his lab.... https://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/california-lab-coronavirus-vaccine-3-hours But being developed and brought to the market is a different timetable - maybe 18 months...I don't see parks opening this year...
  6. Actually he is taking a step up LOL - probably less responsibility and more pay!
  7. Oldschool75 would fall under one of the members that we should not question their credibility and thus you shouldn't request him to name a source.... as posted from another thread ....
  8. Absolutely keep posting your stories here. Even the rare incident where you may have been called out for being "wrong", I am sure at the time the information was shared with you or someone's recollection of it was accurate at that time. Plus, as a business, they can change course after something was told to someone, even after it is put in concrete it can change (looking at you relocated rides LOL). Paramount literally tossed out (like in the dumpsters) a lot of history of the park archives when they took over, so stories from you and others documented here will be one way it can be preserved the best it can! Plus, every time an employee leaves or retires, another databank of historical knowledge disappears.
  9. There is a newer second circle location on this map - was he by chance flying over your house so you could wave at him
  10. So let's explore this corporate world case study... Studies show that one of the top complaints employees have is that management micromanages and are too hands on and employees want to be left alone to do their thing and get their job done the best they know how. Many employees reported during the Kinzel era he was too hands on and micromanaged. People may not like him, but he did grow the company and helped usher in the new wave of record breaking attractions.. It is being reported that Lindner's ownership was very hands off and these were not good years. So can one infer from this that KI had the wrong people in the wrong positions at that time if this era is considered "generally not good years? If KI management was left to run the park as they saw fit, this statement implies they didn't know what they were doing. If Lindner micromanaged would this have changed anything? Is the takeaway that corporate needs a micromanager CEO to get things done? Or is it that CEO's need to have the right people in the right positions and give them complete autonomy to run it as they see fit? Or is it somewhere in between? I also recognize this is an over simplification of the issues, but it would make for an interesting case study when looking at all the details and parameters and metrics associated with these era's, but these are high level take aways from these statements...
  11. This statement cannot be stressed enough! For everyone, especially the youngsters that haven't been through the corporate world cycle yet, just because an employee tells you something doesn't mean it is 100% the truth. The reality is a lot of times people are required to provide the corporate response or the appropriate response deemed acceptable at that time. Examples that come to mind: At the time, Thad Matta having a press conference in front of Xavier saying he has no intentions of leaving Xavier and basically proceeds to go thru the backdoor of the building into a limo waiting to take him up to Ohio State to be announced as their head coach. At the time, Brian Kelly was in the midst of a run that could potentially place UC in a national championship game and says he is committed to Cincinnati and not leaving, yet had taken the job at Notre Dame. I still think if he had been committed and not focused on the Notre Dame job and put together a more convincing victory at Pittsburgh they would have played in the National Championship game. Countless people saying they are not considering running for public office and then run for office. Countless companies that tell their employees the company is doing well and the next week lays off half the staff. Firehawk is dismantled and until the teasing campaign started, when interviewed by the media, KI staff would say they do not have immediate plans for the site. Same is probably true about Vortex. Kings Island saying they don't know what is going in the Theatre this year. The list from corporate America or even daily walk of life can have this list go on for infinity. Even more so for an interview for something that is going to be published, whether it be for a radio station, news story, magazine, or book, etc. Being completely truth-telling generally involves personal risk for loss of job or reprimand or some other course of action, so when someone is being interviewed, they will have their guard up to not accidentally share something their employer doesn't want them to say. They will generally error on the side of caution and not be as open or say as much. It is why many corporations have instituted a "no comment" policy for all of their employees but the designated spokesperson. The truth of the matter is Shaggy or BoddaH or anyone else with personal relationships with higher ups at KI probably will be told more than what that same employee would share to the general public or someone in the media. It is human nature... It is also very possible to be told something at that particular time that was true, but something changed and they went in a different direction and because you are not an employee and not "in the loop" you were not aware of the change. It doesn't mean what you shared is false or inaccurate.
  12. ^this is an enthusiast site not officially affiliated with the park. Others would have simply said that and would say call the park for more information. My post was simply pointing out it wasn't for individual purposes to save that person from bothering the park. If that person was with a group they should have been more clear.... This site is full of assumptions...
  13. They had these types working at WF - people working in street clothes with handwritten name tags. Easy to spot... This program isn't something you sign up for as an individual. As others have pointed out, it is for groups/organizations and not some individual random enthusiast wanting to volunteer for a day...
  14. And when the Jam comes to KI we can read FB posts about how people cannot believe they tore down Vortex for Monster Trucks
  15. They better change the artwork as Vortex is operational in it
  16. It's all good - I wasn't picking on you - just trying to make a point on if we are in the season where the TOS is being enforced or not. I suspect the pictures above will be disappearing soon so snag a copy before they are gone lol... I knew the moment several months back when it was posted that it was wrong and tried to diplomatically point it out by bringing up the confirm the source clause in the TOS and some other publicly available information but was shot down as how dare we question someone with such insider knowledge...
  17. Modified original post to add clarity - by second poster I didn't specifically mean you - just that the same another person questioned the source too and that same another person then questioned how is a member supposed to know the difference between a well-respected with insider information or not...
  18. Question here - are we back to not confirming sources again. You may recall several months ago, someone (we will call original poster) said that Sky High had the contract to build Orion and take down Vortex. Another poster asks for a source. Original poster basically said it is well known he has connections in the industry and doesn't need to post his source. Moderator posts that members are not to question information shared by the Mod team or by well respected members of this forum. The same Another poster from above questioned how is a member supposed to know who the well respected members are - is it based on "reputation score" the site assigns or is there a list somewhere? Discussion died at that point. So the question is are you one of the well respected members with industry connections that we are not to question your posts or are we not confirming sources again? I don't think you can both be correct, so who is actually taking down Vortex?
  19. Um, the city doesn't own the cyclones...
  20. And why discount it if they have they have demand? - if it is discounted it means nobody is paying for the event so they lower it to increase demand - it's called dynamic pricing.... Similar to other paid attractions already at KI that adjusts it's price based on demand.... On many nights the attraction remained at $40 all night and on other nights it incorporates dynamic pricing principals...
  21. That would be when Banshee opened..and it was all day on Good Friday...and then Saturday was a ghost town..
  22. I doubt they would do media day on a Saturday...the whole intent of media day is to do it a day before the park opens to build up hype to drive attendance the next few days...
  23. Um, April 11, 2020 is a Saturday...
  24. It was mentioned earlier these homeowners reside in the township and not within City of Mason boundaries, so they do not have the ability to vote in new leadership at the City....
  25. Shaggy posted earlier that the contractor for Orion has the contract to demo Vortex.....
