  1. unfortunately no. The lines were just way too long. I will definitely ride The Beast here in a couple weeks though!
  2. Haha yes they do have the worst password...frankly they might as well not even have one period, especially if they are going to be that lazy with their password choice! Yeah, Fast Lane definitely helped yesterday. So many dirty looks on DB. I would've gave myself a dirty look too. I still can't get over the wait times of all the rides. I'd like to see a comparison of last years opening day numbers to this years. If I were to guess, I'd say at least double what it was in 2012, at least.
  3. My first trip report of any kind! Here goes nothing…. I woke up at 4:45 Saturday morning to drive from Mooresville down to Bloomington to meet two of my friends. Arrived there at 6 and packed up our drinks and snacks for the day and began our trek from Btown to Kings Island. It was definitely out of my way to travel this route, but I was able to enjoy a nice road trip with great friends, and to me that is what it's all about! We arrived at KI about 9:15 and I immediately noticed how busy it was, much more busy than this time last opening day. At this point I knew I wasn’t going to make ERT especially since I still had to get my season pass processed. This was my first year getting a gold pass, so I didn’t know how the process went. The line was packed but it seemed to go along smoothly. I wondered what the heck they had going on in the processing center. I only waited maybe 10 minutes in that line, and once I actually got into the process center, it took about 2 minutes to get everything done. It feels great to have a gold pass! I had a feeling that this year was going to be busy due to the 5k and decent weather, so my friends and I decided to go with the Fast Lane passes. I was very happy with this choice after seeing the wait times for every ride. We started off our morning with a ride on Diamondback. I was pleasantly surprised when I was my turn to get on and an older gentleman sat beside me to find out it was Gary Coleman, who has ridden Diamondback about 8,000 times now. It was very cool to speak to him. This inspired us to set personal records for ourselves for most rides in a day. The magic number we aimed for was 10. We reached it, and it was awesome. After a couple of rides on DB we decided to make a lap around the park and knock out some other rides. I hate to say it, but I did not enjoy my ride on Vortex, it just seemed bumpy and jolted me around the entire duration of the ride. I say the same with Adventure Express, both the rides just made me feel a tad sore. One of the bigger surprises for me was Flight of Fear. I loved that it was pitch black the entire time. I know last year on opening day it was still lit up. Not sure if it was changed during last season since that was the only time I was there. At 1245 I had the pleasure of meeting some of you, and it was great matching some names to faces. I wish I could have spent more time hanging with the KIC group, but there’s still a whole season ahead of us and I’m looking forward to more meet ups! I was happy to finally receive my shirt and have to say it looked even better in person. Definitely going to represent KIC next time I’m in the park by sporting the shirt. After the group photo, I went out the car and had some lunch. I ate a little and took an energy shot, cause you know, waking up at 445 in the morning isn’t easy, especially when you’re a night owl like me! After our little break, we went in and rode Drop Tower. It’s still so surreal that SOB isn’t there anymore. I’m so excited to see what’s going to happen with that open land. The rest of our afternoon was spent pacing ourselves and getting to our goal of 10 rides on DB while mixing in a few other rides here and there. I finally got to ride BLSC at night, and wow it feels like a whole new ride after the sun goes down! Our final ride of the night was Diamondback, and it makes such a great night ride. That last ride just felt like a dream and it was a perfect way to end our evening. I think by that last ride we were beyond exhausted. Thankfully I had got us a room at the Super 8 across the interstate. The room was actually pretty nice and well kept. I had a couple beers to wind down from the day, but once I hit that bed, I was asleep almost instantly! Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better day. Thanks for reading this monstrosity, and I hope you enjoyed it. Hope to see you all again soon!
  4. Great report! Wish I could've hung out with the KIC group more, but the meet and greet/group photo was really fun.
  5. I bought mine online as well, and I don't have a printer, but I wrote down the confirmation number. Along with that and my ID and such, that should be enough right?
  6. I'm really surprised at how the price of the food is relatively cheap for a sit down restaurant. It seems to match up with places such as Chilis and Applebees. I just had it in my mind that it would cost 15 bucks for a hamburger and fries, I'm very relieved that's not the case.
  7. Well I just wasted about 25 minutes strolling through the park on street view. No regrets! Haha
  8. That is too awesome. Perfect weather. The temp has gone up and the chance of rain has decreased as well!
  9. I've always had the thought in my mind about a situation like this happening, but if I go to the park or any other place with this fear, to me, that means they win. I won't stand for that. You will see me on opening day, and every other day there with a worry free attitude and a big smile!
  10. Whatever the weather may be, it's going to be a great time. Honestly, I welcome a mid 60 degree and cloudy day.
  11. It's FoF for me, with Backlot Stunt Coaster coming in second. I just get so immersed in the FoF's atmosphere, I mean how can you not? Though it wasn't a coaster, if you asked me back in the early 2000s I would tell you Tomb Raider the Ride was my favorite. That was indeed an immersive experience all around.
  12. Is it possible I could pick up mine in Indianapolis since I live close to there?
  13. These look great. The design just really pops! I'm ready to order!! haha
  14. Another member of the Koch family dying too young. Thoughts are with their family.
  15. Looks like they really want to improve the park. I may have to make a trip this season. Think I'll probably enjoy the water swings the most out of all that haha
  16. Haha I could see the bioshock inspired design in a tank top form for some reason. I like the overall tweaked design of the KIC logo. I could see this on a gray or white shirt with maybe a little vintage faded touch to it. Either way, I'm buying whatever is settled on!
  17. So much appreciation for what those guys do to keep the rides running every season. I'll never get tire of hearing about the behind the scenes workings.
  18. Great pics! My favorite was definitely the shot of Freedom Tower. Just jaw dropping to see that structure!
  19. If they ask you what your greatest weakness is, make sure to follow it up with a way you are improving that weakness. Like it was said above, just go in and be yourself. Sometimes it's not only the answers they are looking for, but more so, your attitude.
  20. Great pics! I can't get over all that prime real estate where SOB sat. Can't wait to see the plans for that area.
  21. A nice sunny 75 degree day with light crowds and short lines.
  22. Enjoyed the video as well. It's amazing how quickly a park goes to ruins without any upkeep. Could you imagine what KI would look like after a couple years with no upkeep?
  23. I think I'll just stick to the regular Fast Lane pass, I'll just save The Beast and Firehawk for the end of the night. Last year I only rode each once anyways so it doesn't mean much to me unless I want to marathon those two. I fear that as the season progresses we will see more rides added to the plus list.
  24. I love Drop Zone at KI Kings Islan, it is 1 place in my heart.
  25. Seeing the ruins of Six Flags New Orleans makes me sad. It was closed not due to money or struggling from other parks coming in near by, but mother nature's wrath. I wonder what will come of it. Also, you couldn't pay me to walk through any of these parks at night....creepy!
