KICentral Day Group Photo in International Restaurant
thedevariouseffect replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island
Also don't forget my funnel cake idea haha...I hope that takes off too -
Muse--Madness...woot

1. Beast Night 2. Beast Day 3. Vortex 4. DB 5. All the other coasters...I only ride them usually once in awhile
-
I still laugh when I see the Hangar 18 over there on FOF...Being on base I find it amusing haha, if only there was one, I'd feel alot cooler about being stationed back in Ohio haha
-
For some reason as soon as I saw the powerful thing I thought of this lol
-
Lol...speaking of Congo falls, never knew that was another intamin in the park, I always thought it was another Arrow design like Snake @ CP...learn something new everyday
-
Taken slightly the wrong way. Basically now anyone can ride certain rides. So it's ok if you're big, you can ride Gatekeeper in the fat seats...This country is big enough as it is and it's just crazy...It shouldn't cater to unhealthy lifestyles, it already kills me enough seeing huge people in the motorized scooters in the parks because they're too big to walk on their own, it just doesn't stop
-
I understand catering to a vast audience...but this just lets waist sizes get out of control honestly...I've seen people on GK @ CP in the extended seatbelt seats that barely make it...that's sadly one of only probably a very small amount of rides they can actually ride

The Most Ridiculous Thing a Ride Operator has told you.

I used to say "please don't shake the gates, this ride is like our baby and you're shaking it, shaking babies is bad, you wouldn't want us to shake your babies would you?" -
Any pics of said area?
-
darn I figured it had some special stuff at least going on =/ So is all of that contained within the checkered top piece of the tower basically?
-
Seriously...ride Maggie sans trims, excellent ride. I've had that priviledge only a few times and it's worth it every time. Dunno how someone doesn't like maggie, it's an icon, it's a classic, and it still rocks...Never have I seen this opinion before but ah well
-
Corkscrew is a fun ride if you know where to ride and how Anyways, least favorite ride is KI WindSeeker, CP WindSeeker is a great view especially at night, no moon makes the lake look like black glass right under you, def +. Roller coaster has to be Italian Job...it does nothing for me post launch. Close second was SOB, great ideas and concept, bad bad bad follow through

Then post here and let us know the magic

I was ganna say hopefully he takes notice of this thread, I didn't find info elsewhere on the forum so I'm sure if posted here future people may enjoy his reponse. I get that it's probably elevator driven or possibly winched up, would be odd why as counterweight would make more sense . Magnetic braking slows to halt aided by hyraulic/electric pistons on bottom to cushion fall and act as failsafe possibly. Ride unit attaches up top on both sides via a clip, four outer prongs contain motors to move gondola. As for motor placement, height detection, when to drop, ect. overall mechanics I'm at a blank. I could tell you anything about Power Tower or any S&S combo/turbo/space shot towers but never had great in depth with intamin gyro drops

I do like millie in the back, but usually my group likes front so I'm not too choosy. See Maverick in the front is great, but I love getting yanked over that hill and the first camelback, you can't beat that airtime and jolt. Front through, beautiful look at the drop and still get airtime and the launch is great. I'll ride both, but eh, if they had equal wait we wouldn't be complaining. The back though is almost never a wait for me. I do agree with raptor unless I want the full visual but honestly I'm ok with not having it Gatekeeper is TOTALLY a back row ride, no doubting that, especially left side. Right is good but left is more thrilling Man...can't wait for KI/CP trip this weekend...fffuuu -
Yeah got that because those are the long white strips you see running from about halfway down to base. It also has a failsafe shocks (I believe failsafe) at the bottom of the ride under the gondola (four of them)..Biggest thing I'm looking for are internal mechanics, computer, what top of tower design is like, ect...I'm a technical kinda person lol dunno why but this stuff fascinates me. You don't wanna know what it was like working power tower at Cedar Point. That thing is a technical masterpiece
-
So just because I love this kind of stuff and wondering if anyone has had access to see it or a better understanding. Has anyone seen inside the tower or understood it's mechanisms & how it works. I get how it's picked up & dropped, & have a general understanding but does anyone have a good technical understanding of an intamin gyro drop?

As long as Fort Kinzel signage doesn't return

Cedar Point Tips

I waited five minutes for station wait during ERT got three runs and was done. Millie got first car row two in 20 minutes, Still had 5 min of ERT to go get in line for something afterwards for 1000 opening. Mav front is nice, it's fun and the launch is best experienced in front, but as for airtime and being tossed around the back is the best for that. Millie, I don't justify front...at all, one row back makes no difference to me. Plus front line wait for millie is always ridiculous and for no reason -

Front seat on Maverick isnt where it's at though...Back seat everytime -
I just ride the rides, I don't count how many times I do them haha. I've probably ridden the arrows at CP more than many enthusiasts, hell corkscrew more than anyone, at KI, I've marathoned rides on off days to put good numbers in...Do I care though, no Keeping count of how many rides you do on something over a season/lifetime makes no sense. For individual trip reports per day or weekend or whatever, fine. But over a long period and to that number is ridiculous. They may be great people as I'm sure most enthusiasts are, but it is somewhat odd. Is riding DB 9xxx times totally necessary or rewarding. I honestly would probably get jaded and bored with it at that point, which sucks honestly. A few rides at CP with me don't have their luster anymore because of me working them, I can't imagine just being a guest riding it over and over. I will say though I don't think it's stuff like that that gives us a bad name. It's the creepy enthusiasts who know/state/go off about everything constantly and especially during interviews or do ridiculous stuff (SRB @ CP), or trashy (SR2 @ CP). There are those enthusiasts that are awesome like Mr Segway...Favorite guest @ CP of all time

Resort gate for ERT in the AM, don't go through the front, it's hella packed now. Resort gate doesn't even have running of the bulls now. Just a few hotel people & enthusiasts/random people. I knocked out Maverick four times and millie once during ERT while everyone was in the front of the park for GK -
I went to the park yesterday afternoon, There are two triangle shaped footers back there and the CAT vehicle you see behind slingshot in a different spot now (guessing it drives the steel down into the ground or has some sort of auger, dunno, not relevant honestly. Also use Top Gun to get a look from the backside, the quick second you get to go over in that area does show you a different view of everything that's quite different to see from that angle. Now I will say though, that drop into that area and the nearby terrain will make for something quite exciting if this is indeed used.

I apologize for any typos or whatever, this was frantically typed on my tablet before getting ready for a party I'm about to go to...hope you enjoyed the read, possible pics or more details later but I'm running late and need to get moving haha, have fun everyone, thanks for reading and if you're at the park today have fun
