Crème. Brûlée. Cookie. That is all! (dang that was good)
-
Wow. Didn’t realize there wasn’t even water/waste lines. That’s dumb. They could’ve made the center a mini “bar” with that and like you mentioned even had a drink machine. Seems like a lot of build for little useable infrastructure
-
I agree that it could surly have a better use. It seems so dated (do people even buy airbrushed stuff anymore? Must or it wouldn’t be there) but I agree that making it part of AdventurePort seemed odd (especially if they kept it airbrush instead of making it more of an “outpost explorer” themed shop…unless it had been a “travel supply” shop themed to outpost 5! Maybe it could find a new purpose if they reworked that entire area around the pond with VikingFury to open up the path around to Festhaus and clean up the queue.
-
That could even be an exit point as well at close if needed.
-
unless they made a dedicated "exit" at the far RIGHT when looking at this - switch the exit turnstiles to the side by guest services which might make sense anyway as a main exit side. At full close all of these lanes could swap to exit only. The long median leading to the "main" security point could use a "cut" in it about halfway down to allow access to both check in sides easier. Or maybe the lane in the center could be dedicated exit. I think this set-up could work, and I like that it opens up the entry plaza - could maybe even make the entry plaza a little nicer since the crowd would be pushed a I bit further out. I would maybe push these checkpoints right to the end of the path before you get to the plaza to use the full length of the walkway leading up as a queue line

I like that they are also using this to tie into (at least in name) to adventure port. Wonder if it will tie in visually in any way or just be general “adventure” in the park.
-
That must’ve been you last Saturday LOL. I had never heard that before. I was like “how has that suddenly become a problem?” I think with Adventure port and the new VIP area there, there’s going to be a lot more traffic in that area and this will be more of an issue. A new wooded path though the “forest” would help with flow.
-
Still don’t understand why they don’t turn that area into a mini bier garden. The bar is there, the food is right next door at Festhaus, and that could be such a nice little themed area with overhead banners/flags. Even if they reworked the queue to VF to make the path through the trees a connecting path to the other side and moved the entrance to the ride to that path so it is shorter. The switchbacks could accommodate any queue since they never seem to be used any that could be a nice little wooded walk connecting the two main walkways. That way there would be more through traffic access to the new bar area. Seems like such a wasted space. Even if they made more of a permanent mini stage (like the have at haunt) for a few small local acts to play in weekend evenings.

Actually it’s in adventure port, which is on international street in the parking lot of Kings Island town center which is located in Cincinnati by Louisville Tennessee. Got it??
-
Yeah. Seems to big to just be one of the other. There looks to be another standard small op booth of the other side. Looks like they just combined both needs here into one structure. which side is entry (from Adventure Express plaza or off the midway?)There is an area of switchbacks behind the trees by the smaller booth and it also looks like there’s a bit of queue along the far side of the ride deck I’m sure there will be some “hidden temple” type details added as this looks like a trailer plopped there now. Still looks like sone interior work to knock out first.
-
Agree. They missed that moment. Wish fun fireworks and 50 the new logo transitioned to the OLD instead of the other way. Of well. At least this is a really cool way of referring to to past AND the present together and
-
Saw that sat night. My kid said “is that a new logo?” No, my son… it is certainly NOT new. Love. It. And I even like the way it frames the new one. Nice job KI.

They aren’t messing around. Tons of security tonight and I’ve personally seen 3 groups of 2-3 kids each “held” be security (like sitting at a table while they “guard” them waiting on parents to show up (from ‘inside the park’ lol) and I’m overhearing chatter on security radios as I walk around describing what groups are wearing so they are coming out of the gate strong with a clear message. It feels less crazy tonight, but it might also be that it feels like Winterfest with no Christmas decorations LOL! It’s. COLD!

It’s going to scream “tropical” with all that lush vegetation filling all those planting areas in the ginormous sea of concrete. At least all the concrete will be hot to make it feel tropical. WTH is with that massive space with nothing to break it up?
-
Wow. Seeing those pics reinforced my belief that the park wasn’t really planning on this for this season. Maybe it was an idea that had been pitched, but wasn’t approved till late late in the year, or maybe this was a corporate initiative that they got dropped on them late in the game, but this sure seems a way off if it had really been “in the planning stages” when it should’ve been.
-
I thinks it’s future is it will stay where it is, be part of the Oktoberfest “mini land” off of international street and be just fine because that area can’t have any more “removed” from it and still be an “area”
-
Not impressed-the 50th is seeming less and less special now in hindsight. Maybe PTE I get, but the others seem like a total rehash. Oh well, at least they will taste good reheated.
-
That whole zone needs to be cleaned up a bit, but I actually don’t mind the flume being a “pivot ride” since the theming (except the old Snoopy at the end that looks pretty crappy) doesn’t alter the ride experience. If the whole area was softened a bit and the restrooms given a more “rustic” exterior I think it still works as a transition between the two areas. I’d still love to see the whole “camp Snoopy” retheme. That would really make it a non issue if that area just flowed (no pun intended) right into Rivertown with a more rustic look and feel.
-
Yeah, I think Aeronautica Landing is gonna blow right past this mini “retheme” but hopefully that project is a sign of the type of things they have planned for all parks in the coming years.
-
Disney does it all the time. I agree stamped and colored concrete would be better than pavers.
-
If AP path is closed, Action Zone can still have both paths (in front of and behind Festhaus) and it’s no more of a dead end than it always is, and the restroom and coney entrance are far enough to the right that if need be, the path could be open with the area to the left that is actually AP closed. I hope that area is closed so people aren’t walking through a half finished construction zone.
-
I agree that those options should be there, just not so prominently featured. When they r had special food items at Festhaus it’s almost impossible to find them on the menu or in the line. It’s pizza… they will seek it out like moths to a flame. No need to highlight it (unless it’s unique… and good)
-
And they are both there! Whew! All is still good with the world.
-
Thanks for quoting verbatim their press copy NOW when the teams come in to age and distress the bright colors into a sun-faded village through character paint, over washes and forced shadows it will be amazing. When the landscape crews come in with lots of “simulated tropical foliage” suited for a Midwest climate I’ll get on board with your argument. Until then it’s a bright, freshly painted building with a theme inconsistent room. Time will tell how it all wraps up.

I’m not pessimistic as much as hopeful. I’ve seen great things shaping up with Aeronautica and the Fiesta Village updates, and since they’ve proven they can do it as a company, I’m just holding them to the standards they’ve achieved other places (and even at KI) but then I see tattered and sun faded vines on the entrance to the “signature shed” on Mystic Timbers and I question their ability to deliver in the long run, and I see an old stained shingle roof on the center feature of the reimagined OktoberFest and I question how much funding is going into a total retheme. If holding the park, that I know can exectute to the standards that they’ve proven they can, get me an eye roll and a emoji then so be it.
